Creative Name Ideas

We are expecting a girl April 4th. We have/had names set since before we knew we were expecting. Should this baby of been a boy his name would of been Hendrix and out girl name is/was Maddox. We have two other children Knox (boy) and Lynnox (girl). I didn't think anything of anyone using one of the names for the current baby so I told some friends and family what the names would be depending on sex. Well, being so open turned out to be a huge mistake. I had a friend recently have twins and use both of the names. We've tried to come up with another name that ends in "x" for our expected daughter but we are major brain blocks and I think a lot of it is because we were so set on what her name would be, a part of me still wants to use Maddox but the other part or me doesn't, there is no one in our town or surround job areas that share our son or daughters name, and I like that.

If anyone has any suggestions on a name for a little girl that ends in x please feel free to share.!

The only one off the table is Alyx due to a family members having the name Alex and Aly.

  • There's this guy who always comes into my place of employment to return stuff.  His name is Felixx Foxx and then whatever his last name is that is also similar.  Whatever floats people's boat, I guess.

  • I love Onyx! I also like Alyx (I think the "y" makes it more feminine).
  • How about just "X"?

  • If you like names that end in "X", please use a somewhat feminine name. Maddox means "Son of Madoc".

  • How about just "X"?

Or Xx! Doesn't get much more feminine than 2 Xs! ;) :P

  • Yes both of them lol, and when she told me she was going to use them I asked her to atleast not use Maddox because at the time we didn't know what were having but I could use Maddox for a boy or a girl and she never replied so I hoped she would change her mind, but she had her boys 2 weeks ago and still used them. I'm still real bitter about it. We use the x ending because my son is not my husbands and because he has my maiden name, we agreed it would be nice to have his siblings names end x so they all share something in common since they don't share their last name.

I love Pheonix, it's what I wanted to name Lynnox however my husband hated it with then and still hates it now :(
  • I see your user name contains troll, which happens to be exactly what you're doing. I apprecaite that you have nothing more valuable to do with your time than comment on my thread with ridiculous sarcasm. It's truly flattering. I hope you have a fabulous day and find something more productive to do with your time. ✌️

  • Might I add that while I do apprecaite some of the suggestions. I have looked at some of the forums online and don't particularly care for the name lists they have to offer. Yes and x ending is not common, but it doesn't mean that I want my daughter to have some ridiculous name like Xanax or Anthrax. I was hoping there would be some not absolutely absurd suggestions but I guess that was wishful thinking. Some names we've come up with, but just don't stick are

    Haddix- Haddi nickname
    Brennax- Brenna nickname
    Lylix
Rylix- Ryli as a nickname but Ryli is pretty popular.

So if someone wants to play around with some names and come up with something reasonable your suggestions are more than welcome.!

    Box, Fox, Cox.?

I totally see the effort and genuine help you put in there
  • Buttox

That's the one.! I can't believe I didn't come up with that. Thanks so much.!

The fact is, we know somebody who named her kid Fox, so there's that, but some of the suggestions were real, like I'm pretty sure Onyx is a name, and someone else in this thread thought it was great. How do I know if you're going to like Jynx or not? It's nms, but I bet you somebody has named their daughter that.

  • Cox is such a lovely name for a little girl. Maybe one day you'll have a daughter lucky enough to carry it.
  • What like list are you referencing.?

My sisters name is Brenna. And for the life of me I can't figure out how Brennax is pronounced. Is it Brenna-x or Bren-nax?
  • There have been some names offered up that are okay, but then the comments to a turn headed to Xanax.

If I weren't already frustrated as hell because I had a friend steal my names and not have any luck finding a replacement name I might find the humor in the names that were simply intended for laughter.

I'm not very good at writing them out to break them down into syllables. But I guess it would be more or Bren-nax.
  • Okay @Kessler111012‌ , I appreciate that you say you could find the humor if you weren't so mad at your friend. I'll stop teasing, but honestly, your style is very different from mine so I can't offer sincere help because I don't know what you would like and what you would think was a joke. (As an example, the girl names I considered were Felicity, Rosalie, Bridget, and Laurel. Nothing at all like Maddox and Lynnox)

Okay, so you're asking a group of strangers on the internet to brainstorm names for little girls that end in the letter "x"? And you're expecting us to not throw out ridiculous random words that end in that letter? There are no words than end in the letter x that would be pretty names for a girl.

All I can think of is Max because that's what we are naming our son.

Don't take the silliness to heart because you're frustrated you told a shitty friend "your" names.

  • What about Fairfax, Kendrix (Ken or Kenna for a nickname), Lex or Bellatrix (Bell or Bella as a nn)? Bellatrix is a little to Harry Potter for me personally, but it is an option.

Beatrix and Bellatrix are both beautiful names that end in x.

ETA: just please don't replace the "i" with a "y"

  • Felicity is a pretty name and we have two names that we don't mind (that don't end in x).

Yes I would like the name to end in x, but I don't want it to be Box lol. It would be easier for a boy, much much easier haha. So I guess we are looking for something that ends in x but would breakdown into a nick name but still not sound horrible on it's own if that makes sense

Well, thank you very much for the compliment. I genuinely appreciate that.

Can you beak that down in to pronunciation for me, please.? I can't figure it out.

In all seriousness, I like Kendrix! And it sounds like Hendrix but more feminine to me since it's similar to Kendra.
Kendrix was one that we liked for a boy before we agrees on Hendrix. I do like that and I will run it by my husband as a possible girl name.
  • Bee-jshoo. Sounds French. It doesn't have a hard X sound at the end, the X is silent. But still there.
