Final Name Decision?

edited November 2014 in April 2015 Moms
Now that a lot of people know the sex of their baby(ies), I thought it would be fun to share names. We did this earlier in pregnancy, but as far as I know not recently.

We were all set once again for a girl, but we are having another boy, and can't decide on a name for DS2. We still have plenty of time, but it would nice to refer to him by name, and just call him baby.

Have you made a final decision on a name already? Feel free to share names!

  • @redneckmomma25 I love Hollis. I worked with one, and he was such a sweet old man.

My only draw back is no nickname. I like nicknames and I kind regret that with my daughter Grace. There's only Gracie.

Ugh I've had a girl name set for years because I'm a crazy person but H wanted an Italian name for a boy. He wants Vincent which is fine but Vinny! With the Philly accent around here! *cringe*

Does he realize how difficult it is to find an Italian boy name that isn't as common as Anthony but isn't as ridiculous as Guido?! His dad's name is Giuseppe! Sorry all the Lorenzo's and Mario's and Giuseppe's of the world, but no thank you! Not for me. Too much like a pizza place or the cast of jersey shore.

Mmm....now I'm in the mood for some Boardwalk pizza..... Haha

Did you find out you're having a boy? Or are you just having trouble agreeing on a boy name if it turns out to be a boy?
I want boardwalk pizza all the time always and already eat way too much junk ): there's a pizza grill on every corner here ):

There's already an Alex AND and Nick in my family. The problem may be my enormous family taking all the good names already. We are thinking maybe Lucca? Or Dante, which everyone is gonna think is weird but I don't care :x

I have my a/s December 9. Every single person in my life believes I'm having a boy based on no scientific evidence whatsoever. My aunt said my ultrasound pictures from 15 weeks looks like a boy, whatever that means.

It'll probably be a girl (which no one will believe until delivery day) who we've already decided will be Eden Ann. Then there'll be no problem with names until maybe next time.

It feels weird to tell anyone my names because I've been superstitious and told NOBODY except H.

  • Yes, to the boy name (Michael). The girl name we have narrowed down to two names.

We still haven't decided if we are going to announce our names before the birth of the baby.

  • Love the two Amelias. That's our DDs name and she also goes by "Mia" :)

Naming this baby is proving way more challenging than last time as I had already "chosen" Amelia back in high school.

Currently we have a short list of:
Adelaide, Briar or Molly. I really like Claire as a middle name for all 3.

If you don't mind having two with an A name, I like Adelaide best of these three. It fits with Amelia best IMO.

  • I like Nico as an Italian boy name!

We have it narrowed down to Ronan or Henry, but we will wait to make a final decision in delivery. We continue to call the baby Adergoole around my family to cause panic. It's hilarious.

I'm on my way to work and keep hysterically laughing to myself picturing your family's reaction to "Adergoole"

What a surprisingly pleasant work commute. I must find a name to scare them all with now.

What about Alessandro? I have a friend with an Italian-born husband and her little guy is Alessandro, but goes by Alex.

    I have also heard Nico.

To add to the Italian name help I work with a few Italians and  and some of them have amazing names! one girl is named Natasia (which I think is beautiful) her brothers are Julian and Matthew ( her Dad is a Bruno)  a few Michael's and yes I have a Vincenzo  and a Rocco in the house as well.

I love all the frilly Italian girl names like Francesca, Guilianna, Christiana, Florencia.....total guilty pleasure.

  • @sleepeeps I LOVEEEEE the name Luca for a boy. I would have it on my list but we have a Lucas in the family already and it's just to similar.

We are debating between 2 names at the moment, August and James. I like them, but I'm just not ready to commit. I was the same with DS1's names (Charles). We never announced a name before he was born.

ETA: We have so many different "rules" that we need to fit to find a name. Be easy to pronounce in both English and French, not too long, not too many syllables (our last name has 4), not too popular, not already used by very closed friends or family, etc.
    I LOVE August and James!

James is very popular though. It's a major family name for us. But if you want something unique and also simple, August is awesome!!

I have a friend whose son is Matteo; his italian family calls him that but at school, he's Matt.

  • I think we have decided on Brianna for the first name but can't decide on a middle name.  We won't tell anyone IRL until she's born.  We both really like Arianne but have gotten bad feedback on it (it was in the running for my daughter as well) so I think we have ruled it out.

  • Traditionally we are supposed to name the first born son after the father, which is Julio.  Neither of us like that name so we are breaking tradition. We are going with Isaiah Alexander.

Haha my SO is all about the Italian names as well (we are both full Italian/American) and if its a boy we are going with Vincenzo. I absolutely love Vinny as a NM! If its a girl we are going with Sienna. We have our A/S next Friday and I can't wait!

  • We have had ours finalized for a long while.  Hayley Marie.  DH liked names that started with an H, for the longest time he wanted to name her Heidi Ann...While a pretty name, it sounded a bit too much like we were setting her up to be a future Maxim hometown hottie or something like that.  Thankfully we both loved the name Hayley, and we went with my middle name (and my mom's)

I voted yes, but we're not 100% sure. More like 95%, so I figured close enough! We are going with Tyler, possibly with a J middle name (Tyler James?) so that he has potential to be called TJ. I probably wouldn't call him that tho because I prefer Ty for short. I suggested MANY other names to my husband but he vetoed all of them. This is the first name we both liked, so we'll most likely stick with it!

My husband is James Tyler and often goes by Ty.

We are having a boy. So far the only name DH & I both like is Elijah - Eli. I always really liked Cooper. But that is not available for us as cooper with our last name is the name of a hospital near us.

I also love Luca for a boy with an Italian feel. Julian is also great and could be shortened to Ian.

  • SS - We have a first name picked but are stumped on the middle name.

    Due with #5 April 22, 2015. It's a girl!!!!!

Yes it was planned, yes we know what causes that, no we are not on public assistance, and yes we will be getting cable after this. ;)

Yeah my mom is one of 10 kids and my dad is one of 5, and most of them have kids, and most of them have kids. There are many names I love that have been taken already, so I feel your pain!! I love the name Eden for a girl. So cute. And I like Dante and Lucca also. Good luck with your decision!

    Thank you!!

I always loved Eden and then that pageant star came along and it made me nervous. But I'm happy you like it!
