Is it ok to wax during pregnancy?

I used to wax very often before I found out that I'm pregnant. I'm at my 15 weeks now. I read from some website that it's not advisable to wax because of the increased blood flow and stuffs. Waxing might caused skin irritation and skin surface bleed....

But it's really uncomfortable letting it grow. Anyone tried waxing during pregnancy? Is it safe?

  • I would rather endure the pain than the torturous itch from not waxing. Hehe.

  • I'm a cosmetologist & yes it's safe. Just let them know you're pregnant some places have a "sensitive" skin wax.
  • I wax regularly and I loved getting waxed right before having DS. It made post partum vag care/cleaning so much easier. It does hurt a bit more than usual but eat a banana before hand it helps.

  • I wax and as long as I come every 4-6 weeks, it doesn't hurt that much.
  • Not dangerous, but it can be more painful, as PP said. You can practice your childbirth breaking techniques!

  • @SoyBoy‌ no clue, prob an old wives tale. But my favorite waxer told me it helps. So I do it. It's probably a placebo effect.

  • I've gotten waxed pregnant and non-pregnant before and it hurt like a mother both ways. No medical reason not to wax.

  • Warning Im about to go on another rant lol.

One of my no filter pearl clutcher friends sent me an unintentionally hilarious PSA blog post about how to "make your vagina look and smell delicious". Gross. I know.

Even grosser was the outdated and horrible unhealthy advice it gave. Things like "scrub your vagina twice a day and use a scented panty liner". Ummmmm nope. Not doing that. Sounds like a YI in the making. And one mentioned not eating certain foods like onions and garlic. Not doing that either. Sorry lol.

The best was when it told women to "wax their vaginas" in those words lmao!!! You can't wax a vagina. But you can wax your vulva if and when YOU choose. Oh it also mentioned putting YOGURT on a tampon and.... Well.... Yeah.

So sad some women can't take charge of their own vadge's. It's your vadge, do what you want as far as shaving but I get sick and tired of society making women feel like a) their vaginas don't smell good in their natural state and b) we owe it to our men and the world to make them smell better. So annoying. And causes a lot of sexual weirdness for some self conscious women.

    Ok. TMI soapbox done.
  • Worst pain of my life getting waxed during pregnancy! Would not recommend!
  • I did it a few times already and I'm okay. It's not that much worse, but I guess all people are different. I say give it a try once and if it hurts too bad then don't do it again.

Personally I hate shaving...And it lasts longer I'll deal with the pain lol
  • I still wax regularly. It is a little more sensitive but not horrible. I take Tylenol 40 minutes before my appt and that seems to help.
  • I got waxed this past weekend because I can no longer do laser while pregnant.  It sucks because I paid for all these treatments and now my choices are to shave or wax, which is basically undoing the laser.  While getting my treatment, I decided to try waxing my upper lip for the fun of it because I had never done it before.  What a mistake.  That was painful and my skin was so sensitive that it got chapped afterwards.  Never again.
  • Looking for a new spot(clean and sanitary) for waxing. Any suggestions for NY/ NJ locations??
  • Ouch! It hurts so much more now when I get my eyebrows threaded. I can't imagine a bikini wax.
  • Got a Brazilian a week ago and it hurt just about as much as normal. Feels so good to be smooth again!
