GTKY: Why is your kid crying?

Re: GTKY: Why is your kid crying?

  • @amoot890 - I have not asked recently. I did mention it at his 4 month appt that he used to roll tummy to back but hadn't been doing it anymore and they didn't seem to think it was a big deal. That was back in early October and he has since learned to roll back to front (which he does all the time) but he hasn't rolled back once. I don't get it! I am not sure if he forgot or what?? He is very strong when he is on his tummy (like you described), so I think he CAN do it, he just doesn't.

Also, I don't know the specifics of this but my mom is a PT and she mentioned that some babies roll early on because their relexes are less developed and as they get older and their reflexes become more developed, it actually gets harder for them to roll this way. DS rolled for the first time tummy to back VERY early (like 2 or 3 weeks) and did it occasionally up until almost 4 months old and then just stopped. So i don't know if that reflex thing has anything to do with it or if he just forgot?

My babe rolled both ways pretty early and then went through like at least a month or more long period where she just didn't roll. At all. Then she rolled here or there for a few weeks and now she rolls a lot. I think it's normal....wouldn't worry about it!
  • We are in the same boat of used to roll tummy to back all the time. Once she learned back to tummy she stopped the tummy to back and now just throws a fit until you put her back on her back and she rolls right back onto her tummy.
