Re: ~*~*~ Multiple Loss Ladies 2014-11-18 ~*~*~

  • @PinkCamino Hey lady thanks for taking over. And thanks @HoldingOutHope for running it for so long! I totally haven't gotten to the yoga, and my MIL has the sewing machine so I have gotten nowhere. LOL Instead I have been shoveling the almost 3 feet of snow we have out there and singing my little heart out (as well as I can with pneumonia). Today we had our Federal Review at the childcare center where I work, so i am pooped. I had a 12 hr day. Kill me now!  :) So this is a post and run because my bed is calling ladies! I will be back to make this more personal tomorrow. <3
FX you feel better soon! <3

Hi, @‌pinkcamino We don't know. If we continue TTC and are successful, I won't be able to attend my top choice med school if I am accepted since I'd be due right around the start time. We agreed to TTC only if I'd be due during my four months off, but that window has closed now.

Met with my family doctor to request a beta (to make absolutely sure) and a scrip for an IUD, since I'd like to keep charting while TTA so that when we are ready to try again (sometime next year) I have a bunch of recent charts to reference to know what is going on. Things are very weird right now. My last AF was only one day and my temps are still way above last cycle's coverline (I'm CD11 now). The beta was less than 1.2 mIu so I'm definitely not pregnant, but my progesterone must be elevated. CL cyst? I think probably.

Plus, after two CPs in a row, I don't think I can emotionally take continuing to try right now, but I'm not quite ready to call to have that IUD put in. I really don't know.

((hugs)) I'm sorry your stuck TTA right now. I decided to go ahead and TTC while in grad school. I've spoken to one of my profs who basically comforted me and told me that there are things we can to if I do get KU. Have you maybe thought of talking to someone about your options when you're in Med school? There have been a few ladies who've gone on to have their rainbows while still in med school.

FX you get your AF sorted soon. It may very well  be a CL cyst. FX for answers soon!

  • You are more than welcome here. I hate that you are back but I want you to know that we're here for you with open arms.

Can I ask you what type of testing you've had so far? if any?

I've had a bunch of testing done, some as part of my RPL panel with my OB and some with my RE. All has come back normal, with the exception of the POC tissue from my D&C with my third loss, which was Turners Syndrome. I need to look over my records and compile them all in one place. I'll share them once I've done that. I'm sure there are some more things we could look into (aren't there always?)

  • Hi ladies!  Thanks for taking over the check-in @PinkCamino.  We all know it is a lot of work but much appreciated by all!  And the biggest thank you and hugs to you @HoldingOutHope for running it for so long.  You are absolutely amazing. <3

AFM: There is no insurance stuff to figure out.  IVF is absolutely not covered by either my insurance or DH's insurance for 2015.  We live in a state that does not mandate coverage so there is no way that we will be able to get coverage for it.  We have a meeting on 12/17 with the RE in which I plan to ask for a few Femara + progesterone cycles.  Even though I O regularly I have been talking to a few ladies here and on PgAL and they have said their REs have found that Femara can produce a stronger O and therefore better quality egg, even in ladies who O regularly.  If he does not feel that will help then we will proceed with IVF with PGD in the early spring using savings plus anticipated Christmas and birthday money.

QOTW: My favorite holiday is Easter.  We always get together with my family for a low-key gathering, we still get baskets from the Easter bunny with lots of chocolate :) , and it represents spring and warm weather coming.  Couldn't get better than that!

  • @Pinkcamino – thanks so much for taking over.  Can’t wait to get to know you better.

@HoldingOutHope – Love ya lady – thanks for taking such good care of us for so long.

@furrypaws – Poison Ivy down there… EEK!  What did he do?  Go pee in the woods with it on his hands?  ACK!

@frenchteachermama – I’m so hopeful that the surgery will be good for you.  Until then – good luck with those papers!!!!

@megrae12 – Sorry that you had that darned bug.  Sick isn’t fun.  I’m so hopeful for your grad school efforts though!!!!!

@mlal78 – FX you O earlier and that this cycle is good for you.

@RG1979 – I’ve got everything crossed for you.

AFM – Physcially I’m much better.  Emotionally I’m still a bit raw.  My inlaws were here when the last loss happened and that was awkward… and they are coming back Thursday so that my MIL can have surgery here on Friday and my FIL can have a biopsy on Monday… They’ll be staying with us for like 2 weeks.  EEK.  We see a new specialist tomorrow, an MFM at the request of my OBGYN.  So, we’ll see what happens there.  I’m also looking into reproductive immunology and such.  @HoldingOutHope sent me a great blog post about a doctor and woman who had success with similar history to mine so I’m curious to see where that leads.

I'm so glad you're being sent out to see a specialist! FX for answers and a solid plan.

Would you be willing to share that blog post?

  • @PinkCamino‌ thanks so much for taking over the check in.

Ladies, I apologize for not having personalized messages to you all. I'm only hone for about 20 minutes before heading out again.

So, our 5th IUI was a bust. I just found out yesterday that I didn't even respond well to the clomid, as my 7dpo progesterone level was only an 8, which is better than the 6 it was on letrozole

I have our ivf consult scheduled for next Monday. I'm just feeling so hopeless

    (((((hugs))))) I'm so sorry.

I don't know much about clomid but is it guaranteed that it'll raise your progesterone? Are the progesterone levels and indication of how you responded to the meds?

FX for your consult Monday, hopefully you'll be able to come up with a plan that you and your Dh are comfortable with.

@PinkCamino‌ my Re likes to see a level of at least 10 on medicated cycles. As far as I know, progesterone levels (may?) Indicate how "strong" the ovulation is...I guess somewhat reflective of egg quality? That's the way that I always understood it. I do plan on asking on Monday if my low progesterone levels mean anything
Who really knows what in the hell anything means....

  • So... the MFM appt was... interesting.  She was GREAT.  Really great.  She had clearly read my chart before she came in (I swear my RE never does) and knew everything, but asked me to tell her my history which I did.  She then let me know that she too suffered MCs (5 of them) before going on to have 2 children through IVF.  Her MC's, like mine, have no real explanation.  Ultimately, her recommendations were to do my best to destress (try Acupuncture), and move to IUI then IVF if IUI is unsuccessful.  She felt that moving to an RI wouldn't be a wise idea as they have had two patients who have been treated for "natural killer cells" that have wound up with irreversible liver damage and are now on the transplant list... So I think DH and I will take this cycle off and then do unmedicated next cycle because it appears that my O dates will fall over Christmas travel times so IUI clearly wouldn't work then and we'll start IUI in January.  I'd prefer a faster timeline because that's just how I am and, since I wanted 3 kids by the time I was 30 and will turn 35 in January and didn't accomplish that goal, I had hoped to be pregnant by 35... So, we'll just try and take better care of me and hope that this is all a bad dream?!?!  I still feel like there's something missing, but I'm being told there's not by multiple doctors so perhaps at some point I have to trust experts???

    Tagging those I know were interested --- @bookishmomma, @holdingouthope, @Cfearsy, @Sarcaztic10, @megrae12, @pinkcamino
((hugs)) I'm glad it went well. Out of curiosity why did you see an MFM and not an RE?

Um, yikes? That is super scary.

I was just Googling Dr. Kwak-Kim, an RI in Chicago, which is about a 3 hour drive from me.

  • @pinkcamino - I already see an RE... who I dislike :-)  His office isn't very caring and has a checkbox of how people proceed and it doesn't seem to be personalized care.  After my last loss my OBGYN suggested I see an MFM to just have a second opinion... My RE is the only one in the area that does IVF so if we have to go that route we are stuck with him or going out of town... Out of town is so much harder to plan for, ya know?  So, I see an RE, but this was just something different for us and it was good because the doctor was at least really good for us.

  • Hi lovelies :)  Thank you so much to @holdingouthope for taking care of us for so long and @pinkcamino for taking over- we appreciate you both very much!

I've been a bad bumpie the last few weeks and have been lurking but not participating very much. We had the one year anniversary of our first loss last weekend and I also had a friend's baby shower the same weekend.  I love her and wouldn't have missed it for the world, but holy hell was it tough.  The last time I saw her was when we both told each other we were pregnant and it was tough not thinking the whole time that I should have been 38 weeks pregnant.  I also now have my 2nd loss EDD looming next week and I just want this month to be over.

I should be ovulating next week, actually right around my EDD, so I just trying to be really hopeful that my sweet babies will be watching over us and maybe this will be our cycle.  It would make for a much merrier Christmas.  Ugh- I just feel like a Debbie Downer all the time lately (totally cried at the baby shower), so I'm not much in the way of a good supporter right now.  Love you ladies though and I'm sorry I can't do more right now.

    BFP #1- 4/2011; DD Brynn born 12/2011

BFP #2- 7/13; EDD- 4/2/14; Lost DS at 20 weeks (11/16/13) due to cord accident

BFP #3- 3/14; EDD- 11/28/14; Lost DD at 15 weeks (6/7/14)- cause unknown

To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.

  • Hi PC and ML ladies.

PC, I wanted to let you know I'm mostly taking a break from TTCAL for a bit. Not in the right head space right now. So I am stepping away from all check-in's for a while.

I did just have my 3rd IUI. Not feeling hopeful <--  that's the bad head space talking.

Anyway, wishing you all well. ((hugs))

  • Hi ladies :-h I'd like to join the group if that's ok? I'm not sure why I haven't joined before and I look forward to getting to know you all.

The short (ish) story about me:

I will be 40 years old in June, I married MH 2 years ago on Jan 4th. We both come from other marriages where neither of us had children. My first marriage was 12 years and I was with him for 14 so I kind of gotten late start path TTC when MH and I decided we wanted a children.

Since our marriage almost 2 years ago I have had 3 losses. The first was in May of last year and was a CP. I only knew I was pregnant for 3 days before the MC started.

The second MC was a bit note rough and a bit of a roller coaster. It was twins, then it was, then it wasn't. They noticed one was not going to make it at 5 weeks. I had a MC with the second one 2 days before my 10 week u/s. This was on April 15th of this year and it was much harder to deal with.

MH and I said after the last one that we would try one more time or until May of next year, whichever came first. Enter the 3rd MC on Oct 16th which was another early loss. This one was hard as well because it's the first time I truly realized that I may never be a mom. It started the discussion with MH as to If we are going to continue trying. I'm not sure I'm ready to give up yet though.

At this time MH and I are benched but are open to talk to an RE to see what is going on before determining if we will TTC again. I have that appointment Dec 17th. I'm afraid of them finding nothing but also afraid of them finding something. :|

Anyway, that was not short(ish) by any means. I tend to have diarrhea of the mouth, sorry!

I'm sorry that we all find ourselves here but this board has helped me so very much, and that's thanks to ladies in this check in. I appreciate you all :x
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • Thanks for the welcome @ellebelle2384‌ :) Good luck with your RE appointment. It felt like forever away but it's coming up quickly!
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

Hi ladies :-h I'd like to join the group if that's ok? I'm not sure why I haven't joined before and I look forward to getting to know you all. The short (ish) story about me: I will be 40 years old in June, I married MH 2 years ago on Jan 4th. :| Anyway, that was not short(ish) by any means. I tend to have diarrhea of the mouth, sorry! I'm sorry that we all find ourselves here but this board has helped me so very much, and that's thanks to ladies in this check in. I appreciate you all :x
Welcome, I'm so sorry you find yourself here but we welcome you with open arms (((hugs)))
  • So... the MFM appt was... interesting.

@mrsg80intn ~ I'm not surprised that your MFM is against seeking treatment from an RI. So far, all of my REs have been pretty against the idea of seeking treatment from an RI. I don't believe there is much research on the long-term effects of IVIG therapy, so this is understandable. I wouldn't be OK with that type of treatment, either.

What I am interested in is the Doppler studies they do on blood flow to the uterus. Does anyone know of an RE who checks that? I haven't run across one yet, but that doesn't mean anything. I have toyed with the idea of seeing Dr. Kwak-Kim to have that investigated, as I have poor circulation in general.
As far as I know, the treatment would be a thinner like lovenox no?
  • Hi PC and ML ladies.

PC, I wanted to let you know I'm mostly taking a break from TTCAL for a bit. Not in the right head space right now. So I am stepping away from all check-in's for a while.

I did just have my 3rd IUI. Not feeling hopeful <--  that's the bad head space talking.

Anyway, wishing you all well. ((hugs))
No problem,, ((hugs)) take care of yourself. We'll be here when you are ready.

Yep! My REs have just been too conservative to prescribe Lovenox without proof that it's needed (which I understand). So if needed, I'd be willing to go elsewhere for diagnostics just to see if that could be an issue. I'm putting it on the shelf for now, but if I have another loss MH and I think we will set up a consult and additional testing just to see. It would be a shame to overlook something that has a relatively "easy" fix.
Absolutely. Are you taking BA now?
  • I'm sorry I missed a few checkins but it sounds like you guys have been so supportive of each other! We did our 3rd clomid cycle with a trigger shot (ovidrel) because I hadn't ovulated by the date they had hoped. So for now we sit and wait in hopes that a test in a few days comes back positive. We will have to wait and see. I'm trying to not overthink/stress about it!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! I am ready for a big thanksgiving feast!

  • @HoldingOutHope – I wasn’t too surprised either based on your info to me previously.  I’m interested in the blood circulation info as well and still may toy with the idea of seeing Dr. Kwak-Kim, but being careful in the type of treatment I receive in that I wouldn’t want to be treated for the Natural Killer cell issue if that makes sense????  I was told for me that Lovenox wouldn’t be necessary because my PAI-1 – 1 mutation is not a big deal and basically what almost anyone would have.  She recommended I stay on BA which I’ve been on since July and said that there are still clotting disorders that they don’t even know to test for and BA is helpful because of that.

I’m still not sure I believe this and my thyroid numbers having doubled between August and November around this last loss bug me too… The interesting thing to me was that the MFM also mentioned that she wouldn’t do genetic testing on my husband because in her mind what are they going to tell us that’s going to change our mind about wanting a baby together.  She did absolutely recommend genetically testing embryos if we went the IVF route.

In other news, my crazy MIL, when DH told her the “news” about no new info and needed to De-Stress, she said “Well Dr. Mom told you to distress moons ago, too bad you didn’t listen”.  And now I get to deal with her coming to my house for two  weeks starting tonight… Cue the stress.

As far as your other stuff and what the MFM said, I am glad that you like her. I am sorry that you had no new info. Did she give you recommendations on de-stressing?

  • @megrae12 - She mentioned Acupuncture as a solid idea which I was already considering so now I will consider more strongly... We're in the process of looking for someone now.  She basically felt like anything I could channel my stress into.  So, DH and I are talking through ideas of how to minimize my stress (you know, since work is so calm and all...).  I am also contemplating Hot Yoga again (thread on the main board to follow for opinions).  I liked it, but am a little concerned about the excessive heat and TTC... but maybe that's just a boy thing to be concerned with?

  • Holy moly I'm late!
    Thanks for the checkin @PinkCamino‌!
Things are going smoothly in the TTA world. Just trying to keep myself busy. DH and I are going camping for the Thanksgiving holiday. Then for the Christmas holiday we are headed up to the mountains and after we get back we go drunk beach camping with my cousin for New Years <:-P it is a whole lot of little trips to keep me busy. In January I'm supposed to go back on the Lupron for 3 months, so this is a nice way to wrap up a pretty shitty 2014.

  • Hi PC, thank you so much for taking over the check in, that is so awesome of you!

Sorry I'm wicked late and not too exciting.  I have not been on here much and it's been a rough few days.  I'm pretty much still bummed about my cat and a little embarrassed about how much it's gotten me down.   He was just such a huge presence in my life!

On the topic of TTC nothing too exciting there either, just waiting to O which won't be for another week at least!

Feb. 2014 all clear again to TTC!  Will start progesterone supplementation with the next BFP just in case.       Oct. 2014 more testing just because, thyroid and autoimmune panels = normal.  Diagnostic U/S = no abnormalities.  Will keep trying for 3-6 more months, doctor still optimistic!

  • I am at a complete loss. We just completed our 3rd cycle of Clomid and my doctor only wanted to do 3 because it's so tough on your body I'm told. We had 3 ultrasounds (beginning of month to start clomid, mid cycle check, and when I still hadn't ovulated another one 2 days later followed by a trigger shot.) We had sex the 2 days before the trigger shot and 4 more times the week of the shot/ovulation. Plus sex a billion other times in the month.

I don't understand how 1 F-ing little sperm didn't make it through. We could not have timed it any better. With my first pregnancy I got prengant 2 months after trying. After the D&C we gave ourselves 3 months before we started trying again and again got pregnant 2 months later.

I know 3 months is not a long time and I shouldn't be upset, but I just cant understand because it was timed so well.

I'm sorry for my vent. I am just sitting in my classroom on the verge of tears while my students drive me nuts.
