TTC After a Loss

~~TTCAL Newbie Check in 11/18/14~~

Welcome to TTC After Loss. I'm so sorry for your loss but am happy you have found us. ((hugs)) This board is full of brilliant and kind women who have experienced the hardship of losing that which is most precious, and I hope you find great comfort and support here in your journey!

For those of you so new that you don't know the routine, this is a check-in for newer members of the TTCAL Board. Please feel free to use this space to ask those "newbie" questions that feel intimidating to ask on the main board and I will try my best to get you an answer.

**Please don't feel that you have to provide individual feedback to all of the posters ahead of you. Many do and it's great, but it's most definitely not required to be a part of this check-in. I'd just hate to think people might feel intimidated and not post because of this. All posts and responses are welcomed!**

Please take the time to read the TTCAL blog to answer any questions you may have regarding our board etiquette, TTC, miscarriage & loss, and much more: https://ttcalblog.wordpress.com/ If you are a check-in regular and get a BFP, please PM me so that I can add it to the weekly check-in with a warning for other members. If I don't get a PM, I will not mention your BFP on the check-in.

Finally, if you haven't done so, please post your introduction on the main board including your story.

***If you do not see your name, it’s because you didn’t check in last week, just join in this week and I’ll add you!***

Weekly Update:  How are you doing?  Post an update including any news, thoughts, or questions - let me know how things are going for you! If you don’t see your name, it’s only because you didn’t check in last week. Feel free to join in this week!

@jordangoodnight—Anything new with you this week?

QOTW -

How do you feel about snow? We live in Ohio, and yesterday I woke up to about 3 inches and it kept on coming down all day (total of 4.5 inches)! But, it totally made me feel like decorating, so I can't complain too much. Andplusalso, we get some amazing pictures like these :)

Re: ~~TTCAL Newbie Check in 11/18/14~~

  • @rslh10, thanks for the tag. How are you this week?

I'm doing okay.  I've been having good days and bad.  I'm cautiously excited about my appointment today.  I really just want to get back to some kind of normal and start trying to move on from this experience.  I've been sticking with my temping and started taking OPK's.  Newbie question: I know that a faint line is considered negative.  But does a faint line mean that I might get a positive soon?

Also, FYI, I changed my screen name.  I was previously Scout336.  My avatar and siggy are all still the same.  I haven't been Scout336 for very long, so I'm not going to add a note to my siggy.

QOTW: I love the idea of snow but I live in Texas so I've only seen real snow a handful of times.  As fun and pretty as it looks, I'm kinda glad I don't have to live in it.

  • @rslh10‌ thanks for the check-in!!

So far so good with the charting! Sometimes I get a little confused since I am new to it but everyone has been so helpful :) !! Not sure long my LP's normally are since this is my very first cycle charting, so I really don't know much about my cycle before this.

QOTW: In general I dislike snow. I like snow for the holdiays Christmas Eve- New Year's Day and then I'm over it. I'm in chicago and last year we got hit bad!! I'm really hoping it's not like that this year. What I really hate more than a thing is the how cold it got yesterday (20F plus the wind ) and is supposed to be today! Burrrrr!

  • @rslh10 Thanks for the check-in.

Yeah, this chart is all over the place. I am temping when I wake up, during the week that is 5:15 and on the weekend it was 6:00. Is that too much variation for the weekend days?

I hope it is just silly because of this being the first cycle. First AF was really odd and unlike any I have ever had. We'll see what the next few months bring. We were benched for three cycles, so it looks like February when we can try again. I am ok with that. It gives me time to get used to this and my cycles obviously need time to regulate if this chart is any indication.

QOTW: How do you feel about snow?

I like seeing the pictures! I have lived in Florida all my life, so I can count on one hand how many times I have actually experienced snow. Those times were in Germany and it was beautiful and fun. But, I do not want to go outside today and it is 52 degrees!

Fx that your appointment goes well and you can get back to your normal routine. As for your question, how light are you talking? Whenever I would take them, in the beginning the line was always there just super light. Then as I got closer to my surge, they darkened until finally they were the same color or very close as the control line. Some ladies have been known to tape them to a sheet of paper in order of CD and watch as they grow darker. Kind of like this pic:  CLICK HERE
It's up to your obviously, and I would be more than happy to look at it for you if you want to PM it to me.

I was super confused with my first cycle of real "sticking to it" charting. Then, I started doing medicated cycles and it just gets all kinds of crazy from there! I hope you get some good insight into your body:) I'm sorry you're all too familiar with the snow as well! Stay warm today, It's only 15* right now, with a low of 7 tonight!  :-q

  • Hello All!

Thanks @rslh10 for the tag. and your pictures are gorgeous!! I am healing up well, and got my stitches out yesterday. DH and I are still benched this cycle while I heal up, but that is definitely for the best.
He got home from being OOT for almost 2 weeks and unloaded on me the frustrations of what it entails to be my husband. Understandably, I have been sick and/or hospitalized for the majority of our marriage. I don't know what it's like to be the caretaker, but it is hard to hear coming from your H. He agreed to go to counseling to help him deal with some of these feelings, and I just hope he actually goes. I wish I knew what to do in the meantime. My gut reaction has been anger but I know that's not helpful. Sigh...anyways. I'm sorry for the dear diary post!!

QOTW: I love the IDEA of snow, and all the pictures and movies. I am very satisfied, however,  with just the occasional few inches that we get down south :)

I think that if FF is still giving you solid circles when you're temping at 6 instead of 5:15, you're probably fine. I know a lot of ladies have wonky cycles after their loss, and their charts can look just like yours so don't worry too much :) My first post-loss AF was normal. Completely normal, but then my second was like wtaf is happening to my body! Then, it slowly became normal again. I'm happy you're letting yourself heal and regulating your body!

First, I can't take credit for those photos! I WISH I could, but sadly they're a find off of Pinterest. Second, I'm so sorry your H unloaded like that on you. It's always hurtful to hear those things from your H.  I hope that he does go through with the counseling. My H and I have had arguments like this, especially when I'm on a medicated cycle. That stuff just makes you so crazy, ragey, grumpy and everything else that is bad for a marriage! FX that you guys get through this, and are stronger on the other side. Honestly, the only thing you really can do in the meantime is to be conscious of your words and actions, and just give him all your love. ((hugs))

    Good morning everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well today.

Not a whole lot for me. Last week was 4 weeks after my D&C and I was sure AF was here. But no, she's being a sneaky bitch. Just some very light spotting and cramping. Nothing else. So that's been disheartening.

Other than that, a small group of my friends and I got together over the weekend. One of them is due at the end of December, so of course we all bought her gifts. First time I have gone shopping for anyone else's baby since my MC. So of course I broke down crying in the store looking at all of the adorable and sentimental items I should be buying for myself and my LO at this time.  Blah.

QOTW: Snow. I absolutely love snow. I hate "snow emergencies" but snow just brings a sense of peace and calming to me. Especially when I'm snuggled inside with a beautiful cup of coffee. I also love how my neighborhood pulls together to help each other out when there is a large snow fall. Everyone shovels everyone else out. Its awesome.

*Edited to clarify the BFP is not mine & to include QOTW*

Don't feel bad for being upset. We've all been there, and we understand. Sometimes I ugly cry at the most random baby things. It's okay:) ((hugs))

  • Hi @rslh10!  How are you doing?

My hematology appointment went great.  I really love the new doctor, and it was nice talking to someone with a fresh prospective.  I ended up doing some repeat testing which I just got the numbers on today, so I'm planning on calling her to discuss.  Basically, the indicators for APS are MUCH higher than they ever have been before, so I just want to talk to her about that and how that could affect things, and also to discuss once I'm off the bench if I should just start the lovenox early.  She had indicated because I was having so much trouble on the Coumadin lately that she may want me to switch to the lovenox for a while to just try and stabilize.  I can understand that, but I just really don't like giving myself those shots.  I'm better about it though than I used to be!

But anyway, just waiting at this point for a new cycle to start, and then see when the one after that starts, and if they are more towards average time, we can burn the bench again.  We'll see!

QOTW: I love snow.  I love to see it falling, I love it when we actually get snow days, and I love it when it does snow before Christmas.  Usually by February though, I am SO tired of it.

APS-- Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome? I just googled it and It looks to be an autoimmune disease--is this the right thing? Ugh, I am so sorry. I hope that your Dr has some good solid answers for you, and that you feel better after speaking with her. FX you get good news with the next few cycles and you can burn that bench!

  • @rslh10, I feel like it was about half or a little less as dark as the control line.  I took one a few days ago and the test line was totally white, but this one was definitely visible.  This is my first cycle since my MC, first time temping, first time doing OPK's...so I'm really trying not to get all hopeful and stuff.

@reginaphilangee, I'm so sorry your DH unloaded on you.  I can't imagine how hard that is.  I'm glad you're healing well and I hope next month will be better.

  • @rslh10 I hope you are doing well. Thank you for the check in.

I went back in yesterday but I don't know what the number is yet. However, I started bleeding again very heavily Sunday and passed more tissue yesterday. Today more heavy bleeding. This is 6 weeks post cytotec, so yeah... I spent the morning crying in a stall at my work. I can't believe here I am six weeks later and still not over the hump. Oh and to top it off, today is my birthday. Happy fucking birthday.

  • @rslh10 Thanks for checking in.  I was on vacation last week -- it was great to get away for a little while.  On the TTC front we are still benched but I got my first post-loss period right on schedule at the end of last week which was really exciting to see my body getting back to normal.  It was also a little sad to see that I'm really truly totally not pregnant anymore.  I knew it, but seeing AF again was just another reminder.

I have an appointment tomorrow morning with my midwife.  They will take beta one more time to be sure it got all the way to zero and do a pelvic exam.  I also want to talk to her about the time she benched us for.  Another midwife in the practice said one month when I had my emergency appointment and then my midwife said two at the follow up.  I don't mind waiting two if there is a real medical reason why it is better for me, but I want to understand why it changed and why she thinks two is better.

@scubadiva30 so sorry that shopping for baby stuff was so hard.  It sucks to be reminded of what we should be doing right now.  (hugs)

@powerofbacon glad that the appointment went well!

QOTW: I am not a fan of snow, which is bad since I live in Boston.  Its just such a pain to shovel and drive in.  Also, I hate being cold.  I would like about one snow storm a year so that everything could look pretty and I could go out and play in it a little.  After that one storm, I'd like no more snow.

My coworker/friend told me she's pregnant, like the morning she got a positive test, and since I've "done this before" she's been barraging me with tons of questions.  I'm super happy for her, but it's starting to get old (and it's only been a few days)

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie! This will be our first cycle trying again, at least it will be if they let my DH come home from training, he keeps emailing me saying they will be gone longer... We had planned trying when he didn't have to go on any training trips but as you know things don't always work out the way you want. I'm a little frustrated with that right now and so is he. Other than that I'm doing good. Started eating healthier and drinking more water. I have cut out soda completely, I go to Starbucks once a month for a caffiene loaded treat. Thanks to everyone that has made me feel so welcome and allowed me to drop my walls.

Happy fucking birthday.

i am so so sorry lady. ((hugs)) Happy Birthday, I'm so sorry it's happening like this though :(  more hugs! Let us know your #'s when they come in.

  • @rslh10‌ thanks for the check-in. I'm always amazed that you can keep up with all of us. Are you still planning for a possible cycle in December?

@wellybug‌ I'm in Oklahoma and we had a couple of inches of snow this week and everyone went nuts. Like abandoning cars on the side of the road Armageddon style nuts. It was pretty though :)

@MrsOscarFelix‌ I love Chicago but hate it in the winter, I'm sure you are freezing! GL with temping, I always feel less stressed about TTC if I know what my body is doing.

@flyoffeve‌ my cycle is also all over the place post loss.

@reginaphilangee‌ I hope you have a speedy recovery. Sorry the medical stuff has been a strain on you and YH.

@LDubHawksFan‌ good luck at your RE appt on 12/3! Sorry about the BFN :(

@mustlovedogs63‌ I'm so sorry all this crap is still going on on your Bday. Hope your beta is down today. I said this over on May but can you talk you Dr into an ultrasound to see what's going on?

@firefly143‌ welcome! GL this cycle. Getting healthy sounds like a good plan.

@lycih I'm sorry about your coworker bugging you and being insensitive.

@incir‌ glad your body is getting back to normal.

@scubadiva30 sorry shopping for baby things was hard. I totally get that. I've been avoiding those stores like the plague but I picked up an angel tree family for Christmas so looks like I'm going to have to get over it.

@PowerOfBacon‌ I hope your cycles get more regular soon so you can burn the bench! I'm glad you like your new hematologist.

  • I'm doing ok this week. Still waiting for AF and FF is just as confused about whether or not I've O'd. I swear it gives me CH and takes them away every other day. I have my appt with my new RE this Friday and am hoping I get the clear to take Provera if AF still hasn't shown her ugly face. I'll be CD43 AL. I really really hope he lets me cycle in December. I guess we'll see. I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment.

QOTW: I love snow especially if it means skiing! We had a coupe of inches this week and the Goldens had a blast. Seriously happiest dogs alive :). But once the snow starts I generally start running indoors and I HATE the treadmill.

  • @rslh10 - Thanks for the check in! How are you doing? Feeling any better about your procedure on Thurs now that you have some info on what to expect?

@wellybug - GL with your appointment. In my experience with OPKs a faint second line does not really mean anything. I always have a faint second line. They tend to get darker before I get a true positive and then goes back to a faint line. I usually O around CD 13-14 but I start OPKs at CD9 and then line them up on a paper towel (kind of like what @rslh10 suggested) so that I can compare them as I go.

@MrsOscarFelix - I'm glad you started charting. It will get easier as you go! It really helps me because it makes me feel like I have some idea of what is happening with my body! GL! BTW, I'm in Chicago too!

@flyoffeve - My cycles have been pretty weird since my loss as well. I was super regular before and now...not so much. I hope it all sorts itself out soon!

@reginaphilangee - I'm sorry your husband took his frustrations out on you. I think the pressure of TTC is really hard on a relationship. I think it is great that he has agreed to talk to someone, that will definitely help!

@PowerofBacon- I hope your doc is able to give you some answers. FX that you can burn the bench soon!

@TashaCN - I hope AF shows up soon for you! I completely understand how you felt buying baby stuff. I go out of my way at Target or stores like it to avoid the baby section. It is rough. ((Hugs))

@mustlovedogs63 - So many hugs. I'm so sorry you are still going through this, especially on your birthday. I hope it ends for you soon. Happy birthday, I hope you are able to find a way to enjoy it!

@incir - Hope you had a great vacation! GL at your appointment. I hope your midwife is able to give you a good answer.

@lycih - I'm sorry about your co-worker. Hope you and your H find time to HIO.

@firefly143 - Welcome to the check-in! I hope your H is able to get home soon!

@LDubHawksFan - Sorry about the BFN ((hugs)). GL at your RE appointment!

AFM, had an amazing vacation in Southern California last week! We had such a great time and we are now seriously trying to figure out a way to move out there. Not sure if it will ever happen but for now it is our dream. Coming back to cold, snowy Chicago has been no fun. It is god damn 14 degrees today! UGH! Anyway, now I'm just waiting to O but I'm not feeling very hopeful about this cycle because once again my H and I are working opposite schedules this week and will have like no time together to DTD. It is so frustrating. I told my H that I should O this week so we should HIO as much as possible but he hates the pressure of TTC and sometimes it causes problems with actually getting the job done. Combine that with the fact that we only have maybe an hour a day together and I just don't know how much sex we will actually get in before I O. Since yesterday I've just been feeling really frustrated and hopeless about TTC and I just want to give up (and this is only my second TTC cycle since my loss!). Anyway, sorry for my rant. Hugs to all of you ladies. Hope you all have a good week!

QOTW -Me and snow do not get along. I hate the cold and the snow that comes with it. That is a HUGE part of why we want to go to move to a warmer climate. My H and I both hate winter! It's already snowing here and I'm NOT ready!

  • Thanks for checking on me, @rslh10. Pretty sure I'm ovulating this week, but I can't do anything about it because I'm still benched. Anyone else get really bad ovulation cramps post D&C? The cramps were really bad yesterday-- probably the worst I've ever had. Is that normal?

Also, another day, another Facebook baby announcement. I'm starting to feel like everyone can procreate except for me and my DH <sigh>

  • Opk and charting have me really stressed, my OPKS seem to just be doing what ever they want. One day my opk will be almost positive and the next day super light, I'm not sure if i missed my surge but if i did that means i ovulated while on Af. Charting is the only thing keeping me semi-sane since there is no indication that i ovulated based on my temp.

QOTF: I love the snow when i don't have to leave my house lol… its going to be 23 degrees here in New york and i want to cry… i hate the cold!

I am so sorry to hear you're being bombarded with questions. That just flat out sucks. One or two, okay sure...But for days and days? Ugh. ((hugs)) As for sexy time...All I can say is some women feel okay jumping right back in, and some need their time...Take your time if you need it lady. There is nothing wrong with that. There was a thread about having sex post loss that you can read about here , But DO NOT comment on it (and know that there are Pregnancy tickers and all that jazz in that thread because it's fairly old) because it will bump the old thread up and we don't want that happening. Feel free to PM if you want to talk about it :) ((hugs))

Hi and Welcome to the check in! I'm so sorry for your loss. How frustrating that your H is away! What is he training for? Are you currently temping, or using OPKS? You should think about adding a siggy so that everyone can get to know you and your "story".  I hope you're finding comfort here. ((hugs))

  • Morning! Sorry, I'll check back in later on everyone since work was hell yesterday I need to dive in. AFM, I tested this morning since insurance decision is due today, you know, just in case we wouldn't need IF coverage! Ha I knew it would be BFN. So now I'm just waiting out AF this week, waiting to spend thanksgiving with family, and looking forward to my RE appointment on the 3rd. I actually hope I have a longer LP so maybe I'll be able to do the HSG this cycle (it will probably be cd 10 when I have my appt). I think my DH is bummed about the SA, but FX it will come back swimmingly (see what I did there!) ;)
Bummed that he has to do one? My H was too. But then, after it was all said and done, he was pretty ok with it and opened up to me saying that he wants to do everything he can to help make this easier on us. Are you not temping this cycle? I just went to stalk you and realized that you have no temps (or bd timing!) and I felt cheated ;) I have everything crossed for you and this RE appt.

@rslh10 - Thanks for the check in! How are you doing? Feeling any better about your procedure on Thurs now that you have some info on what to expect?

    *snip*

I do feel better now that I know what to expect! I am very happy that I was able to get some good advice-- It's what I love about these ladies!

I am so happy to hear you had a great vacation! I love when you go somewhere and you love it so much you know it's where you want to be. We went to the Outer Banks in NC for our honeymoon and we know we want to buy a home there someday. I'm so sorry you and DH are working weird shifts and can't be around each other more! How frustrating! FX the timing works out for you guys. I have everything crossed for you. Trust me, I understand the frustration around TTC! ((hugs))

  • @rslh10‌ thanks for the check-in. I did get my results and my hcg went waaay down but I'm still bleeding/spotting - have been since 11/1. So this makes day 18 and counting. Ugh, I just want the mc to be done already. That sounds bad doesn't it? I wanted to be pregnant so badly and now I just want this part to end...I just want to be done with it. I go in for another weekly blood draw today then I get to talk with my dr. QOTW - I have a love hate relationship with snow. Lol. I love it because it's pretty and fun to play in BUT I hate winter driving. I swear everyone in Iowa loses their damn minds when it snows. Lol
So many ((hugs)) I am so sorry that it's been dragging on. I hope your BW comes back with good news and your body gets it's stuff together soon. What you said doesn't sound horrible. We all can relate, honestly. You want it so bad, and then you just want it over with so you can keep going. More ((hugs)). Be kind to yourself.

I'm sorry for the Facebook announcements. I know that a lot of ladies on here have deactivated theirs for a while in order to heal a little bit more emotionally. I can't really say if I've had worse O cramps, but I can say that I notice it more? If that makes any sense. I think that I'm hyper aware of it now. Obviously if the pain is so intense that it's causing severe pain to you, then you should contact your Dr. ((hugs))

Opk and charting have me really stressed, my OPKS seem to just be doing what ever they want.

I'm sorry your having trouble with the OPKS. Do you have a link to your chart? I think I asked you before?

QOTW: Snow please! All my Facebook friends are enjoying snow and we had a freak storm that raised the temp after sunset to 73, now we are back down to the high 30s...

Hi and Welcome to the check in! I'm so sorry for your loss. How frustrating that your H is away! What is he training for? Are you currently temping, or using OPKS? You should think about adding a siggy so that everyone can get to know you and your "story".  I hope you're finding comfort here. ((hugs))

DH is in the military. I'm using OPKS. I did an intro the other night. What is a siggy? How do I add it? Joining this board has been very positive for me.

  • Howdy y'all, I am new to the board, so I hope its ok that I jump in here.  I guess things are going ok.  I am on CD5 of my 2nd cycle post MC.  I am doing a bit better now, but when AF showed up a few days ago, I was really bummed out.  I know that I shouldn't have had my hopes up since it was our first cycle trying since the MC, but I felt like our timing was good, so who knows.  Oh well, here is to hoping for the next cycle.

@agpjt413 - It sucks waiting for CD1 post MC.  It took me 10 weeks between my MC and AF to finally arrive.  Hang in there, and hopefully yours comes sooner than that.

QOTW - I like visiting places with snow for vacation (like snowboarding), but as a native Texan, I can't even imagine living in it every day!  I don't think I would be a fan of shoveling snow!

  • Thanks for the check in!  The Vegas party was so much fun!  I can't wait to post all about it on my blog :-)   I'm 14 DPO and took a test yesterday but it was a BFN so I'm just waiting for AF to show up.  Oh and my karyotype testing came back and everything was normal so yay for that!

QOTW-  I hate snow.   I live in Maryland but totally hate it.  This morning it was 14 degrees with windchill of -1 and it was miserable.

@flyoffeve I always say if you are within an hour when temping you should be ok.  My temps were crazy this month too.  I think it might be because my body is still regulating itself.

@rslh10 Thanks for the tag. Since my check-in last week my levels have gotten back to 0. I also went to the dr to talk about the MC and moving forward, he wants me to wait 2 cycles before trying again. I was really hoping I could go ahead and try now. So now I'm just waiting for AF to show back up and hoping that maybe I'll be able to try in January.

QOTW: I love the snow. I don't really like to play in it but I love to watch it.

Siggy is a signature. It lets everyone know your story, you can add little pictures, a gif, whatever you want. It shows up after every post that you make.

Go to the preferences page (up top by where you get the notifications, it's the little head looking guy), and then you click "signature settings" in there. From there you can just put any information that you want (see mine below this post if you're confused). I hope this helps :)

@rslh10‌ - Thanks for the check in! Doing ok this week and sexy time has gotten a little more comfortable, more natural. I'm still waiting for CD1 post m/c. I know it's different for every woman and I know that my m/c seems pretty recent. How are you doing this week? As for QOTW: I love snow! I'm not a fan of ridiculously cold temps though! If the weather is cold enough for snow, I don't mind that ;) MH & I garden and we typically will start planting cool season veggies first then do our summer crops early April. Well, after we sowed some seeds & planted a few things this past April, we got hit w/ a cold snap & it was 7 degrees! Luckily we were able to get our hands on some portable greenhouses and saved our veggies! ;) How long does a season of snow last in OH?
I'm sorry you're still waiting on AF. She seems to take her sweet ass time for some ladies.Good to hear that sexy time is going well. I think that takes some pressure off the situation, Kwim? Honestly, the snowy season can be anywhere from November-March....It's pretty much the worst.
