It's a snow day here. Everything is closed, there are states of emergency, travel bans, etc. Nasty. DH is staying home too, I think, since there's a travel ban where his work is.
Yikes, shell! At least DH will be home, too, and doesn't have to be out in such bad weather. Will he work from home or do you get a bonus family day at home?
@ramfan05 he has some pto to use before the holidays, so he's using it to stay home. He's also on call though, so if something happens, he'll have to work. His other colleagues are stuck in Montreal! It'll be nice to have him home. He's currently giving LO a bottle while I bump in bed -- didn't want the dc bottles going to waste!
Dc is closed too. Which is nice that I'm not spending $60 to care for my own child.
@CiaoMama good luck prepping for your meetings! And that's so exciting about LO! So crazy to think we will all have little walkers soon!
DS had a rough patch from about 10-11. Poor thing was just screaming and inconsolable. I tried Tylenol but that didn't seem to work. He must have really exhausted himself because he slept until 7 this morning. Just a few more weeks until DH is home then he can handle all the MOTN madness. Mama needs a break!
After yesterday's snow storm, our cows got out. Chased them over a mile away. So today, they are staying in the barn. I am not chasing them today in this cold. So today we get to stay home and be warm.

@KatyBriggs DS always has a large build up of earwax or "cerumen impaction." Not sure if it can lead to an infection but pedi cleans his ears with the cool little tool.
Hi guys...I haven't really been participating much for the last week or so. I have so many projects going that I haven't had time to breathe. So...hi!
Does anyone else's LO have an issue with actual chunks of food? If it's not a purée, Logan chokes on it, no matter how soft or how small. Puffs, banana chunks, toast...no go. He starts gagging and spitting up. I guess he'll just be eating purees until he has all his teeth.
Hey dudes. Day 2 is going better than yesterday although I walked into a shitshow from last night. It's weird now, bcs it's not like a systems crash or a machine being down. It's peoples lives. I love it, but it's a whole new level of seriousness.
Also, my car doors were frozen shut this morning. Whoa winter!
@shellbell3845 omg to all that snow!!!
@magentawarped When we started solid chunks of food, LO also gagged on it. Most of the food came back out. But it is a learning process. Keep offering, one day the light switch will just turn on!

@Mamosey I love the blinged cast! @KatyBriggs What did I miss? Why are you in a walking cast? @elf828 I am intrigued by your life coach. Let us know how it goes!
I am in search of a nail polish that will last more than 2 days. Everything I try chips right away. I either need to stop painting my nails or stop cleaning my house.
@TessyMessy my vote, of course, is to avoid cleaning. But I also have the best luck with two drugstore cheapies: sinful colors and Wet n Wild megalast

This. Sinful colors is my favorite. But if I even think about doing dishes my nail polish chips. :-< I found this crazy top coat (like they use in salons) and it seals in the color nicely. Let me try to find a link to it. It works really good.
But I also can't live without this one! The worst is having wet nails and then having to smear them by picking up the baby (who was fast asleep two seconds prior to painting your nails.) #murphyslaw. But if you paint your nails, then add a coat of this 30 seconds after you are done painting them, they dry INSTANTLY. It's magic. It's also only about $5 in stores. https://www.amazon.com/Sally-Hansen-Insta-Anti-Chip/dp/B000AA5VD6
Holy freaking cow! @shellbell3845 That's a lot of snow and cold!
DD was up a million times last night. A tooth finally cut through yesterday morning so I thought she'd have a better night last night but it was much worse than the previous nights. She might be working on one or two more. I'm glad I get to spend the morning with her since she's being extra clingy today.
Happy birthday!! @BlueDot818 This is horrible but it almost makes me hope she doesn't have a super great sleeper to start off with or she'll think it's all the book. But alas, I wish an ill sleeping baby on no one. She'll be in the trenches soon enough.
I'm sorry I've been a downer lady. I feel like this is the only place I can come get it out now. This seems to be the week everyone must nail down holiday plans, and I just don't have the energy.
Then tell them that. If someone is pushing you to make plans, tell them you're just trying to get your family through this week and you don't have the time, energy, or ability to look past this weekend.

Lol she will be lucky and have the perfect sleeper that's just how she rolls
I remember when I had a perfect sleeping baby, then 4 month wakeful hit ::shudders:: She's never completely recovered from it.
I had a butternut squash soup cooking in the slowcooker and I think I jumped the gun on pureeing it - it's kinda grainy in texture now. Is it saveable?
@tyrannosauruslex can you strain it through a mess strainer? I'm wondering if that would help. Or keep cooking it and puree again?
My sister is talking about sleep training her F15 baby. Immidiately. Like from the day she is born... I'm totally ok with ST, but it's taking everything I have to not call her a lunatic... she was telling me that T should be STTN by now, and her kid will be 12 hours by 12 weeks, bc she's reading a book.
Good luck with that home slice 8-}
I wouldn't even sweat it! Our friend said the same thing before her baby was born in Oct. She texts us on a regular basis to say how hard this mothering thing is! Reality strikes again!!
Ok I'll keep cooking it and try again. I feel like it's missing something (im trying to replicate the fancy farmers market stuff we buy for way too much money)....is there often cream in butternut squash soup?
I think there is usually cream but it obviously depends on the recipe. I also think cream makes everything better, so I say add some.
The girls are in group, and literally the only thing for me to do is bump and/or stare out the window. I'm not allowed to sit in on the groups, and there's no paperwork or anything I'm supposed to be doing...so basically, I'm being PAID to mess around on the internet!!!!!
This talk of people without babies thinking about how easy they'll be able to make it reminds me of my friend who insisted her whole pregnancy she'd be able to go epidural free because she has a higher pain tolerance than me. Then all but guaranteed she'd be med free once I had DD without an epi. She ate her words afterward.
I haven't been to a funeral since I was a child. Is it disrespectful to wear dress pants and a sweater or should I wear a dress? My pants are pretty baggy because of weight loss, not sure what to do. Also, not sure why I'm super stressing about it since it's not really important but I am. It will be in the 50s when the service starts.

At least I hope so.
@utpony I think all babies will sleep...eventually. Sorry you had a rough night!
@BlueDot818 stay warm!!

And 12 hours by 12 weeks? Hahahahahahahahaha. Ok. Next baby, I'm reading that damn book. Someone should have told me that's all it takes.

Epidurals are glorious and I heart them so much.
