Happy Monday All!
My baby acquired a cold yesterday evening - literally no symptoms at 3 and by 5 was a runny nosed mess.
Needless to say I got less than 3 hours of sleep and we have been up since 4:40. It's going to be a long one. Any tips for nose sucking out would be much appreciated - he needs it but fights it hard core!
Re: Monday Mutterings
Thanks for the suggestions all! I try to pin him down but man is he a fighter. I can do it but I feel like I'm hurting him!
The probiotic we use is called KIDZ Probio. It's flavorless and I mix it into applesauce with his Singulair usually. You could put it anything, really, even a bottle. Have you tried a little peppermint or eucalyptus oil in the humidifier? It does seem to help reduce the amount of nighttime coughing fits to some degree.
The plan was for Pete to have the car towed back to his dad's and he'd take his dad's extra car to meet us. It took AAA over an hour and a half to show up! Anyway, by the time Pete made his way back to Disney it was 4 hours later so he was over it. We decided to leave at that point. Dropped off Christine and Baby L and went home. But....Pete left his car keys at his dad's so we were locked out. Had to go back to his parents. The guy that was buying his old car came to purchase it and that was fine, except he didn't fill out the paperwork correctly so that took forever.
The day was a comedy of errors. By the time we finally got home we'd been gone for 10 hours and A was crabby from teething. He bit me about 5 times while in the park and actually managed to bruise me with one. He threw some major tantrums too; I think Christine is afraid of what's in store with the toddler years after A's display yesterday.
Glad the cough is getting better. Are they going to check his lungs again in a week or two to make sure it's cleared? My doctor has ordered follow-up x-rays when I had it because she said it's the best way to confirm the fluid is completely gone.
@Sing2phins that's so exciting you got to see her first steps!!!
@TJHine I second, third etc. the bath time snot removal, she even allows me to grab them with the wash cloth but outside the bath it's alligator death roll.
@kellykinns so glad to hear Doug is finally starting to feel better! It sounds like it's been a rough few weeks I'm glad it's ending!
@tgrimes1980 I really laughed out loud at that picture. That outfit is terrible and seems itchy. Poor Mara looks like a jellyfish in that dress!
fun showing off his dance moves.
There were a couple kids who were about to pick up our babies and move them so they could get to a toy!! Unreal, right? Thankfully, their parents stopped them because I was thinking please, don't let me have to physically touch another kid because they have decided to quite literally toss A or L aside.
@kellykinns Sleep deprivation is a bitch! Try to nap whenever possible.
Evie's one year check up is this afternoon. Seems silly since we were just at the drs office Thursday. She was taking a nap when I got home from work and is still asleep an hour later. I wanted to run to Buy Buy Baby and get some stuff before her appointment, but her nap is way more important!
@joelies good luck today!
@kellykinns sorry things are still rough. We are going through the exact same thing here with the sleep regression and sickness. Luke will not sleep unless someone is touching him (nap or nighttime). We've been camping out on the couch for a while.
Was supposed to take the kiddos to the dentist, but since little dude still has some spots we decided to cancel.
@tgrimes1980 That picture is hilarious. Poor M looks so angry at that dress!
I hope everyone else is doing well!
Or drizzle with a little olive oil, sprinkle with S & P and roast them.

x2
I like to do mine at 400 on a baking pan for 20 minutes or until brown and crispy. Sea salt. I do this with broccoli and carrots too. So good! Enjoy!
Also oven roasted is delish!
A could climb if he wanted
I'm certain, but thankfully he is not that ambitious MOTN. His only ambition is to holler for us to come back in and get him back to sleep. We won't even start worrying about it until we start seeing him make an effort to get out on his own or he is approaching 2, whichever is sooner, although I suspect climbing will be the impetus.
Yeah @Sing2phins for first steps, I think B is very very close but I think it could be any day now or still take a few weeks, depending on her motivation.
Good luck @TJHine sucking that snot, it's amazing how strong they are!
I'm in a similar boat to what some have mentioned when it comes to sleeping. We did some sleep training around 6 months and she was pretty good at going down until the last few nights, I think it's separation anxiety. She's fine as long as I'm in the room, she doesn't even want to be picked up or anything, but as soon as I leave!!!!!
It's frustrating but was actually really cute, last night I was sitting on the floor by her crib and she would crawl over and put her face up to the slats and say 'hi' or reach her little hand through to touch me, but it's exhausting.
I'm not sure if I should give in and ride it out since it's a new phase or let her CIO a little to not create a bad habit?
I'm spotting. Have been all day.. I called my doctor at noon and the nurse called me back at 12:30 and was pretty worried so I left work (I was already on my lunch break so I called my boss and she said do whatever I needed) and went in for an ultrasound (had one scheduled for Thursday). DH left work and met me there. We heard the heart beat and the tech said everything looked good but I'm still spotting. I'm freaking the hell out. I never had anything like this with peach and I'm scared.. I'm 7 weeks on Wednesday. She told me to rest. I went back to work for the last 2 hours (3 hour lunch..). DH got peach from the baby sitters and made dinner. Won't let me move from the couch and is now cleaning the kitchen for me.
My friend is a nurse and reccomend a panty liner so I can monitor the color (brownish red now, bright red I call my OB).
Someone tell me this happened to you and now you have a healthy child? I'm losing my mind..
Sending you all the good vibes !
for awhile now. First HFM and now a respiratory illness. Sucks you'll have to work tomorrow.
It's actually very concerning that you see so many kids in the ER to rule out abuse when they are perfectly fine . On the one hand, you could argue it's good that incidents are being reported. But like the situation with @chrisy_01, some maniac lodged a complaint out of spite and that's nothing short of frightening.
