Monday Mutterings

Happy Monday All!

My baby acquired a cold yesterday evening - literally no symptoms at 3 and by 5 was a runny nosed mess.

Needless to say I got less than 3 hours of sleep and we have been up since 4:40. It's going to be a long one. Any tips for nose sucking out would be much appreciated - he needs it but fights it hard core!

  • @kellykinns‌ Sleep deprivation is no joke at all, I'm so sorry it's been so rough! I hope Doug gets well quickly and starts sleeping better soon!
  • Also, good luck today @JoeLies‌!!! So excited for you!

@chrisy_01‌ Nope. Just grouchy and sleep deprived. Had we not been locked out I think he would have transferred to the crib fine, but since we had to go to Pete's parents and they are the loudest people that have ever lived, all bets were off. My SIL and niece came over while we were there so at least he had plenty of
fun showing off his dance moves.

I bought brussel sprouts last night and have never made them before, I need recipes! I think I've seen @cfox815 talk about them and @finnaroo probably has some good ideas too.

@trtlcrzy I just peel off any weird looking leaves on the outside, cut them in half lengthwise, toss in a reasonable amount of olive oil (don't drench them) and season with salt and pepper. Spread on a cookie sheet and roast in the oven at 400 for 20-25 minutes or longer. Shake the pan halfway through if you are so inclined. Sprinkle with Parmesan flakes and serve.

  • Or drizzle with a little olive oil, sprinkle with S & P and roast them.

I like to do mine at 400 on a baking pan for 20 minutes or until brown and crispy. Sea salt. I do this with broccoli and carrots too. So good! Enjoy!

  • @trtlcrzy‌ I love cutting it into shreds, and sautéing with garlic and olive oil, salt, ginger, and at the end a little apple cider vinegar. It's so yummy :)

    Also oven roasted is delish!
  • @j0509‌ DS1 was climbing out at 17 months so we put a crib tent on. I believe they have since been recalled. Then at 20 months his crib was recalled and he went to a toddler bed. DD went in a toddler bed around then also. The good thing was neither realized they could get out and they would just call for us when they woke up.
  • Yeah, crib tents aren't sold anymore. I looked into one to keep Sinny out of A's bed and learned there was a suffocation risk.
  • @j0509‌ we transitioned C into a toddler bed at around 20 months. She couldnt climb out of her crib but by that age she hated the crib.
  • Trigger warning!!!!!!!

I'm spotting. Have been all day.. I called my doctor at noon and the nurse called me back at 12:30 and was pretty worried so I left work (I was already on my lunch break so I called my boss and she said do whatever I needed) and went in for an ultrasound (had one scheduled for Thursday). DH left work and met me there. We heard the heart beat and the tech said everything looked good but I'm still spotting. I'm freaking the hell out. I never had anything like this with peach and I'm scared.. I'm 7 weeks on Wednesday. She told me to rest. I went back to work for the last 2 hours (3 hour lunch..). DH got peach from the baby sitters and made dinner. Won't let me move from the couch and is now cleaning the kitchen for me.

My friend is a nurse and reccomend a panty liner so I can monitor the color (brownish red now, bright red I call my OB).

Someone tell me this happened to you and now you have a healthy child? I'm losing my mind..
  • A has mystery hives and diarrhea. Still waiting for our allergy testing to get approved.
  • Wow @chrisy_01‌, that's scary. Can you switch banks? I'd never want to set foot I'm there again!

@ggandlee Poor M has been sick
for awhile now. First HFM and now a respiratory illness. Sucks you'll have to work tomorrow.

It's actually very concerning that you see so many kids in the ER to rule out abuse when they are perfectly fine . On the one hand, you could argue it's good that incidents are being reported. But like the situation with @chrisy_01, some maniac lodged a complaint out of spite and that's nothing short of frightening.
  • @chrisy_01‌ Holy crap that is so terrible! I'm so sorry that happened to your family and I hope you are able to move past this whole situation (and get that creep fired!)
