3rd Trimester

Do you clean kitchen floors weekly?

Ok, this is an on-going debate Dh and I have.  I INSIST the kitchen floor must be scrubbed AT LEAST weekly.  We have four children and three dogs, who all track god knows what through our house.

He thinks I'm a freak about it (which, duh, germaphobe, but still), because the other women he's known in his life (his mom, friends, ex) only scrubbed when there was stuff CRUSTED ON THE FLOOR (which would drive me BATSH!T crazy!)

SO - what do you do in your house?

Re: Do you clean kitchen floors weekly?

  • Weekly cleaning of the entire apartment, including the kitchen.  Everything gets vacuumed, mopped and scrubbed - except for MH's bathroom.  He does that when he feels like it.  lol!  In between cleanings I use the wet Swiffer to keep things tidy.

  • I actually use the Swiffer wet cloths almost every night. I will get down and scrub about once a month. Our doggy door goes out the back of our kitchen so the dog tracks in red clay! DH thinks I am crazy, but its just so simple to sweep and then swiffer really quick.
  • my Dh cleans it weekly :-)
  • Just started cleaning 'em weekly, but it's only me and my DH in our home... Also, we're from Hawaii so we take our shoes off in the house... Not as much grime, I guess... Still, the Swiffer is getting a workout now.

  • I vacuum 5-6 days a week (laminate flooring - 1 kid and 2 dogs).  In theory, I would mop once a week but I really only do it 1-2 times a month.
  • Everything (including the kitchen floors) is cleaned on a weekly basis in our home, if not more frequently. ?I have now hired a cleaner to come every other week between now and after I am recovered from childbirth to make sure that everything is always in tip top shape. ?Lately, my back kills after one of my cleaning sessions, but I would rather spend the $ and ensure everything is always tidy. ?
  • The whole house, including the kitchen, gets cleaned weekly.

  • Our linoleum is old and DISGUSTING.  No matter how much I clean it it's still black.  So it makes me not care and I clean it about every other week.  We're getting a new one soon, and I'll be much more anal about cleaning it!
  • See, we used to use the swiffer, but I had a dog who had a MAJOR shedding problem (really, it was insane.)  Using the swiffer just left us with hair glop around the baseboards, so I quit using it.  I DO have a wet/dry flip mop though - that might do the trick on a daily basis...

  • Nope, I sweep a few times a week, but only use my swiffer mop maybe every 2 weeks or so.

Maybe I am a slob? LOL...

  • Totally agree they should be done weekly. I would love to have reg floors in my kitchen, we have screwed up carpeting.  I HATE it but have to deal for awhile yet.
  • I sweep pretty much every day and detail floors on my hands a knees every week usually. But I hadn't done it in 2 weeks and wasn't planning on it again till baby came but dh had other plans! Stupid scuffs.

  • All floors get cleaned at least weekly.  We have a dog and a parrot (believe it or not the bird is the messier creature); the floors definitely need cleaning.  We also have a strict no shoes in the house policy!
  • Our housekeeper comes every other week to clean everything.  I despise mopping so I never do that between her cleanings, but I do sweep sometimes in between.

  • At least once a week.  With kids, it's important to me to keep the floors clean since they're all over them....and we have a dog.

  • Yes I agree it should be done at least once a week.  We have a dog so I want to make sure the kitchen floor stays clean.  I also have been nesting by vacuuming every other day. I must be a mad woman.Smile

This is pretty much what happens at our house.  I guess we also add counter wiping and organizing in between, but not serious tub cleaning/floor srubbing.

  • I sweep and swiffer daily, scrub down the floors once a week. We have 2 huge dogs and I have a messy hubby. With 3 floors if I don't stay on top of it every day the house turns into a disaster in no time.

The swiffer sweeper mini vac is priceless with a dog that sheds! I have two big dogs that shed like mad. I sweep and swiffer vac to get all of the hair. Then I kick them out while I mop.

  • Y'all are crazy! Our living room/foyer is hardwood and I vaccuum/mop it once a month.  Every week I swiffer the floors in between.  As far as the carpet in teh bedroom well it gets vacuumed once a month LOL.  I really clean my house only once a month!

Doesn't everything get dusty?  I hate when I can see dust on stuff.  Makes me bonkers.

(FYI, I admit to my germaphobia freely, but knowing that dust is made up mostly of dead skin, just skeeves me the hell out.)

  • I sweep my kitchen everyday and mop it once a week, unless it gets bad between then I might do it more often than that.  I hate crumbs, junk on my floors, finger prints on windows...yeah it is insane.
  • It get swept and Swiffer mopped nightly after dinner. Weekly would make the floor AWFUL with just 2 kids and no pets. I can't imagine.
  • I think weekly is good but not very practical for me although its just DH and I. But if I could I would like to clean the floors twice a week which is totally unfeasible.
