Effing Monday

Benjy was in our bed by 1am.  I think we are dealing with a combination 4mo wakeful, teething, and growth spurt. As soon as he was in our bed, he slept like a rock though.  I'll deal with the bad habit later, I'm running on empty.

We went to leave the house for daycare/work and realized the dog had shit in 6 different places on the first floor.  We let her out like 4 times before bed.  I think she's just being an asshole because she hates the new house.

I came home from my trip yesterday to a TRASHED house.  The first floor is still being worked on, so that's expected, but I clean the upstairs every single day so that we aren't breathing in saw dust all the time, tracking in mud, etc.  My heart basically dropped to the floor when I saw what he left for me to come home too.  He was then all pissy when I spent half the day cleaning.

  • @BPer‌ I think these 4 month olds are out to get us! I was up from 11pm to 5am on Saturday night, at 5 I handed the kid to DH (who had been asleep until then) he attempted to sleep with her whimpering for 45minutes at which point I got mad took the kid to the living room and got her to sleep in the swing from 6-9am. He still doesn't get why I'm grumpy with him.

  • DH has been working for the last 20some days with crazy hours and no real breaks. And the schedule has not been much better before - since late August. So I planned both kids' bday parties by myself and whatnot. Ok.

This last weekend he was working OOT and that's ok too. He comes home today and has a small gig this afternoon for a few hours. He said he would leave at 8. Getting up at 7:30. He texted me around 7 he was up and get ready. At 8:40 I get a text he is leaving.
It's snowing. It's usually a 2 hrs drive. I am willing to bet he won't be here before lunch. Or even naptime. Which means the kids won't see him at all before he has to leave again and then he won't be home before they go to bed either.
    This sucks.

  • I'm sitting at the drs doing my GD test. Yuck. So bored.

I have to get to work yet and finish off my report cards too.

  • MIL, who orders EVERYTHING including paper towels from Amazon, told me she couldn't find an advent calendar at Walmart that wasn't candy, so she would have to give W the chocolate one she bought.  I told her that's fine, but if she wants me to do it every day with her I would go ahead and order one from Amazon on her behalf (there are only 3,500 non-candy choices on there).

She has been RIDICULOUS since I had the sugar talk with her..... texting me 50 pictures from the grocery, "can she have this?  can she have this?  can she have this?"  Yes, yes she can have shaved turkey, yes to the wheat bread, are you phucking kidding me!  Pitiful Pearl!

  • @bper F you for those tickets, I drooled on my phone @ your instagram photo.  Sigh.  Also - you had back problems with Ben, right?  I know you had sciatica, but did you have other issues too?

I have this new spasm in my mid-right back that takes my breath away it is so painful, and there isn't one movement that really triggers it - it's random.  When it happens, I can barely move, but I have to move to relieve it.  It is uncomfortable to sleep on either side, and I half way scream in the middle of the night when it hits (usually when I'm getting up for the restroom).  I am curious if this is similar to the issues you had, and what the hell I can do about it.

@tinyhumantoe, that super sucks about your back pain. I had almost the exact same thing with Briar, and the only thing that seemed to help me was massages (oh darn!). I hope your LO gives you some relief soon! I rigged up a pillow arrangement so I was able to sleep on my stomach-- I pretty much made 2 pillow dams, and then I situated my fatness down the middle so my weight was on the pillows and my stomach just hung free. I think they actually make pillows for this--- I'll see if I can find what I'm thinking of and link it later!

ETA: link. They're pricy, but if they offered any relief at night it might be worth it!

  • Ethan was "sick" on Wednesday. He had a slight fever (99.2), so VPK made him stay home Thursday and Friday. Then late Friday Sean got sick. For real. Fevers, runny nose, miserable. Now I'm sick. How is it possible that the one that (likely) brought us the germs barely got sick, but the rest of us are suffering?! This isn't a pity party I promise. Just a wtf.

I got new dishes. They're all white. DH told me I have no imagination :/. I figured that someday when we have a nice house with an actual table to eat at I can liven things up with cloth napkins.

I'm ready for the house to be completely painted. DH did 90% of it a month ago. Every weekend since has been raining or windy. Grr.

  • MH is having car trouble. He broke down last week, got towed to the mechanic where of course the car ran perfectly fine. So MH gets the car back & he broke down again on Sunday.

Now all this week we're going to be stressing about getting the car fixed, making do with just one car, etc.

My boss messed up something that directly affected a project I'm producing & I'm super annoyed! It basically wasted all of Friday for me & a contractor I'm working with. I sent him an email first thing this morning letting him know. Probably not my smartest move, but oh well.

  • I had that job interview on Thursday.  Went in to talk about a part time every other day kind of gig.  Left agreeing to manage the concierge department.  I go back on thursday to work out the details and meet the team.

It's still a paycut, but with DH's promotion & my 30hrs a week, not to mention 15min commute vs. an hour, we're bringing home roughly the same amount.  I'm so excited!!!!

I'm not turning my notice in until next monday though because I still want to get paid for the Thanksgiving holidays....

Also, I'm irrationally excited to go back to monthly facials.  DH doesn't understand why this is exciting.
Wait, what is the job, @MarisaKathleen? Congrats though bc it sounds like a good move!

  • @marisakathleen that is super, super exciting!  Yay!

Ok, last MIL bitch for the day from me, I'm a bitchy woman these days.  MIL asked what I was getting W for Christmas.  I said I ordered a lawn care toy set and a ton of fake food and pots and pans; I told her my mom got her a wagon, then gave her a couple ideas since she asked.  She was really pouty that I gave my mom the wagon idea ("oh, I wish you would have given that idea to me"), and I told her I didn't - but mom told me what she bought so it didn't get duplicated.

MIL informs me yesterday she bought her a bunch of food (over $130 worth) AND that she went ahead and ordered the gift I told her I was getting DH.  I told her I'll return the food I bought for W, but I am not returning the gift for DH because it will cost me return shipping.  She plays dumb, but I swear on my life we didn't have some sort of miscommunication.  She does this every year, so I was super clear this time and sent a recap in email to avoid the issue.  Last year I gave her the benefit of the doubt, but next year when she asks I will say I don't know what I'm getting.  Either she is psycho passive aggressive, or so freaking ditzy that I don't know how she even functions in life.  I'm conflicted because there is no possible way she could be this dumb, but she isn't really the malicious type.

  • @melody921, it's at a fancy-schmancy spa in the area.  :-)  No hair, just spa services.  They do roughly $1.8mil in sales per year, so apparently it's a busy place.  Every time I've gone there for services, I feel like the only one in there.  It's quiet, serene, and very welcoming.  So we'll see.  I think it'll be a good opportunity, especially to get management experience.

A 'friend' of mine told me I'm ruining my life by giving up my "career" to stay home with my kids more and that I should really rethink my decision.  Especially since I spent all of high school and college working for a salon...why would I possibly want to regress?  FYI, this friend owns dogs and will never have kids which is just as well because she's horrible.  I've wanted to break up with her for around 6 years but just can't.
I think it sounds like a great experience, and that spa sounds divine! Your "friend" can take a long walk off a short pier. What a b*tch.

  • I finally finished sorting all G's clothes up to 24mo. I started listing stuff for sale. No one is biting. I'm getting pissed. I don't have time to make all these posts on all the different fb sites in our area. I still need to list them on Craigslist. I'd really like to recoup some money. Not even asking a lot. I gave away 4 garbage bags to people 2 to donation and saved some to sell. Crazy.

Today is the first day in over a month I've woken with no SI joint pain! I'll see the chiro weekly now. Hopefully that will continue to help.

  • I have no idea what to get DH for Christmas.  He has told me that he wants new dress socks and undershirts.  Honest to God, if he doesn't give me any other ideas, I'm buying him just that and calling it a day.  I'm not looking for a "here's the things I want" list, but SOME ideas would be helpful.

I realize we're uber boring this year because my list consisted of things for our new bed (heated mattress pad, fancy sheets) and an Indigo Girls CD, but at least it was SOMETHING.  We weren't going to buy each other anything and were just going to buy a new tv, but we already got that and for a heck of a lot less than anticipated due to having gift cards, and it being on sale, so that idea apparently went out the window.

  • I hate that my husband buys what he wants for christmas. I enjoy getting him gifts. I hate that he won't buy me something unless I tell him what to buy me. This year I literally want nothing.

DH mentioned he wants some nice shot glasses so I'll try and find him a nice set.
  • I really wish people would stop bugging me so I could decide which bed to buy.

@tinyhumantoe I had (and still have) sciatica, lumbargo (fancy way for saying chronic lower back pain), a sacral disorder and a pelvic deformity.

I went to see an osteopathic pain management specialist because a chiropractor wasn't enough for me.  All of the muscles and ligaments that SHOULD have been stabilizing my pelvis, weren't.  I'm still going for weekly adjustments and just had a cortisone shot on Friday.

  • Also, I didn't really answer your question @tinyhumantoe

...my pain was as excruciating as you describe.  Sometimes I would literally just sit down on the floor and hope that it would pass.  There was no comfortable sleeping position. By the end of each day, I basically couldn't walk.

This sounds way worse than what I'm experiencing.  This behaves as more of a pinched nerve, and it only lasts for 5-20 seconds.  I can usually move my way out of it, and as long as I move around like a pansy (no bending, no twisting, no carrying weight) I can avoid triggering it.  I would be the biggest baby on earth if I had what you're describing.  :(

  • My toddler loves breakfast food! Her last three meals have been breakfast related. Last night we had banana pancakes and sausage for dinner. Then a bagel and cream cheese for breakfast, and for lunch she asked for eggies and toast. Also her née thing is to take any drink she has, milk/water/juice and dribble it all out if her mouth. Her shirt gets soaked! Or the couch or the floor...
DS has been doing this for a good 2 months. It drives me nuts. He does it because he knows it too. Also he's a huge fan of breakfast for any meal except he won't eat eggs. I try to hide them in things and he still picks around them.

We had our normal 2 hour Monday morning staff meeting, and it was all "BPer, why haven't you gotten around to completely redoing our website?"

After the meeting, I sat down separately with the other woman in our office whose SOLE purpose is event planning, and she gave me a laundry list of things "help with" regarding her events.

This is why I can get nothing done, people.

@redneckmomma25 No, I haven't.  I am going to talk to my doctor about it tomorrow and see what she recommends.  I hate to think of racking up more healthcare costs. :(

Speaking of costs........ we got to see the rates we can actually get from healthcare.gov.  I understand the rates increase as income increases, but AFFORDABLE CARE ACT my fucking ass.

My premiums with my insurance company have doubled because of this shit, and what I qualified for through the healthcare marketplace?  WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.  I am so insanely frustrated.  Maybe it wouldn't be so catastrophic to rich people to pay for those plans, but I must be at the line where we make enough to get thoroughly fucked, but don't truly make enough to afford to be fucked.  Sorry for the F bombs, I am raging mad.  I thought the rates might be better or might be a little worse, but they are in a completely different galaxy.

ETA:  Keep in mind our quote from DH's insurance was 1900+/mo for 3 of us, so it's not like I was looking for a $600/mo plan for my family.  I had low standards going in.
