Jumping over to ask if a bottle warmer is necessary?

Hi ladies! I'm jumping over because I'm trying to decide if I need to buy a bottle warmer before my LO arrives.  Have you ladies found them to be a necessary item or something you can do without?  If they are a must have, do you have one to recommend?  TIA for your imput!

I plan on pumping and storing, that's why I was thinking I could need one.

  • I had one, but returned it because I never used it! I BF for the first 3.5 months, and it was faster to heat BM in the freezer bag placed in a coffee cup of hot water!

Now with FF, we just use lukewarm tap water.

So either way, I have found it a waste!

  • I have exclusively FF from day one and never saw a need for a bottle warmer. I just make the bottle with warm water directly from the tap.

  • I don't know what BFers think but I FF and we did not even take it out of the box. After I got it, we took a parenting class at the hospital and they recommended if FF to not even get them used to warmed up bottles.

So G takes them room temperature. We bring them to room temperature by setting them out an hour before feeding or running it under warm water for a few minutes.

Totally don't need and not been an issue at all for us.

Thanks for the advice ladies!  I'm definitely leaning towards not getting one.

  • I got one as a hand-me-down.  And I love it!  I don't have to think about it.  I just pop the bottle in, go change my DS, and by the time I'm done, the bottle is ready. It works really well for me.

That being said, I wouldn't go spend a lot of money on one.  But I think the one I have is one of the cheaper ones, and I like it!

  • I have an inexpensive one (First Years brand). And I personally love it. I primarily BF, but I pump and have supplemented a few times with formula. Just allows me to have two hands on a screaming baby, instead of having my hand under the tap ;)
  • We have never used one.  Sometimes we put his bottle in a large glass of warm water to warm it up.  But usually, he takes it cold.
