I seriously cannot be the only one who never wakes up in the middle of the night to pee.
I think I did one time this entire pregnancy, but the dog was also crying to go outside, so I was up anyway.
he is still transverse, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I don't get up to pee either (ducks to avoid things thrown at me). Baby goes between transverse and head down lately. I think when I lay down it's the only time he gets OFF my bladder though.

@misskilljoy‌ sorry you had to go for emergency bloods- hope all is well. I agree that the sign means after 3rd tri it's hands off!

  • I lost my mucus plug yesterday (want to see a pic?). I told MH and he had a cartoon freak out that I need to go to the hospital. I reminded him about what they said in birthing class. He was still a wreck so I called the after hours nurse line to confirm that everything is okay. It was adorable. After that, he didn't want me doing ANYTHING. I even got new underwear and he got mad when I did the new underwear dance (dancing porky pig style with just a shirt and my new undies on). Fortunately, he has calmed down now.

I put some water on the stove when I got home to boil for pasta. I reached up in the cupboard next to the stove and wondered what was on three stovetop under the pot cause it smelled like burning hair. I looked and couldn't see anything. I reached up to touch my hair and a bunch of black fell on the ground and I heard some sizzling. Yep, I caught my hair on fire boiling water. WTF?! I called my sister the stylist and asked her to bring her scissors for Thanksgiving. It isn't terribly noticeable (I think) so I can wait two weeks, but it definitely needs cut off. Of all things.

I just think of Little Women when Joe burns Meg's hair before the party. "It smells like....burnt feathers."

I don't know if this is the right place to put this but I think from the original thread this was a say whatever needs to be said thread. I was in my childbirth/parenting class the other night and they were talking about postpartum care. I was very educated thanks to you ladies, I wasn't caught off guard by any of it! All I could think was how awesome the ladies of D14 are! I am mostly a lurker but have the overwhelming need to thank you ladies for all of the information I have gathered over the last several months! So, thank you!

+1 to this, for sure. I thought the same thing at my class last weekend. Glad I know what to stock up on at the drugstore, too. :)

Also, because I was sad to miss cards against humanity a couple weeks ago, here's this for your reading pleasure:

I have a really crude sense of humor, but the one that made me laugh hardest was "war? What is it good for?"

I had this same thought when I saw it. I'm 37+1 but for some reason 38 sounds so much more "real." I think I may have a slight freak out when I turn 38 weeks next Thursday!
I noticed this too! I'm at 35+3 but I know it really could be any day now. I'm going to pull the trigger on my amazon registry order, my soap.com order with all my post-partum supplies, and see if I can't get my online discount for buy buy baby to come earlier. But first things first, I'm going to drink this salted caramel mocha while I eat my lunch, catch up on the boards, and pretend I'm not at work!

  • I'm only 34 weeks but my MW yesterday said "ok so we'll see you in two weeks, then after that we will either see you for another appointment or at the hospital. You ready?!"

    "NO!" :-S
  • The only things I've done for the past month at my house is make sure the nursery is ready and put up my Christmas tree. I even steam cleaned the nursery carpet for the second time. There are fur balls the size of tumbleweeds rolling around my house, but I'm ready for presents!

  • Oooh, presents! @rshamos, damn you, now I'm making a mental list of what to buy for whom. I guess I should get that done soon, too. I'm sure I can carve out some online shopping time this weekend. Early present surprises for all!

@jengallagher‌ glad they got the contractions slowed down and you can go home. Cook, LO, cook!

The cards against humanity post cracked me up. I hope santa brings me a set of the cards for Christmas.

My best friend's husband was in a car wreck last night. He thankfully walked away, but their car is toast. An SUV with a cow catcher rammed him on the highway at 40 mph and made him crash into another truck in front of him. The trucks? Minor damage. His car? Crumpled like an accordion. Both airbags deployed and his seat actually broke. This was a really old car, but they don't have any money to replace it and you know the insurance is going to be a dick about it. We watch their son after school every day and they're supposed to be the ones to watch the girls when I go into labor, so life just got much more complicated for us all. We had discussed having them buy our car once we got a minivan because this car was on its last legs anyway, so I hope they can get a rental for a week or two until we can get a new car and let them buy ours.

Ugh. Being an adult sucks sometimes.

  • @bowlwoman‌ at least he is safe. Car accidents are so scary. I hope their insurance kicks in quickly.

  • @misskilljoy‌ Yeah, we just had a conversation this morning. It's a week until the kids are out for Thanksgiving week and Q's induction, so we'll probably have them drop off their son here at the ungodly hour of 6:15 am and we'll take him to school. Not looking forward to it, but I'm putting on my big girl panties and taking one for the team.

What sucks is that her mom lives with them and was supposed to be doing this kind of stuff and childcare, but she's a bit of a selfish woman and probably won't want to be bothered. It kinda pisses me off, but unfortunately she can't pick her mom. They just had a discussion about her mom either needing to start paying rent or she needs to move out, so I can't see her mom being willing to do what she should do and take her damn grandson to school because her daughter and son-in-law need help for a week for extreme extenuating circumstances when you've been living with them for over a year rent free.

Ok, maybe I'm more ragey about this than I thought.

@bowlwoman - Psh, rage away! It's definitely rage-worthy that the grandmother isn't getting her act together and helping out. You're a really good friend for taking their son at that early hour. o_O I can barely drag myself out of bed by then, let alone be awake and able to care for someone else's child.

I'm totally making up for it in December when she's picking the girls up after school so I don't have to get the baby out. Plus, NYE babysitting at her house and party at mine. :D

She's also more like my sister than my own sister, so I'd do anything for her.

  • @tairairat - holy crap! I'm sorry you went through all that, and then a crappy ass manager to boot! I think if I were you I wouldn't even stop there, I would probably write the company a letter and maybe even a letter to the local paper. I am one vindictive lady sometimes though.

Hope you are back to 100%

  • @tairarat I hope you're feeling better. I'd be just as annoyed as you are if my good faith effort to give a heads up to a restaurant where I was a regular were met with that kind of a cowardly response. I just had an issue with someone I contacted abt a baby-related service who was so rude and patronizing. It stressed me out so much that I canceled the appointment. Then she tried to get me to pay anyway due to some bullshit language on her website, with this horribly accusatory attitude at the ready. Clearly she's been met with this response to her demeanor before. If she showed any sort of tact or consideration for me as a likely anxious FTM, I swear I'd feel differently. It's as though acting like a reasonable, mature adult is no longer expected. Booooooo. Anyway, I sympathize! Makes me appreciate those who genuinely prioritize customer service that much more.

  • @tairairat - I'm so sorry you went through that -- especially while pregnant! I don't think any restaurant will take responsibility for that sort of thing. No admission of liability I suppose. I had terrible food poisoning a few years ago from a crappy Mexican restaurant (lost 7 lbs in 5 days, and I'm little to begin with). I had to go to the ER twice for fluids, and both physicians said they had seen several other people who ate at that same restaurant that week. When we called the place to inform them/complain, they said it wasn't their fault, and they wouldn't reimburse our money. Oh, but they'd give me a gift card there for another meal. Mmmmmm ecoli! Anyways, I filled out a report with the health department; it's all I could do. I hope you're feeling better soon!
