Had mine done yesterday morning. I was 1-2 cm and 50% effaced. 39 weeks. Just felt sore and crampy yesterday. This morning I woke to a big ole chunk of MP. Today more cramping and more mucous like discharge. Sorry...TMI. I am still holding out hope for this evening.

I wouldn't say it eased me into labor - it threw me into labor. I had a membrane sweep at my appointment when I was 40 weeks. At the appointment I was 3 cm dilated and my cervix was very thin. Doctor said my cervix was favorable for labor and did the sweep at 11am. The rest of the day I felt crampy and at 5 pm I was having very painful contractions every 8-9 minutes. Those first contractions were almost as painful as the ones I was having 3-4 hours later when I got my epidural.
Getting mine done Thursday so we'll see! Here's hoping it helps. With my first it didn't do much. Then they did it a second time with my first and it helped me efface from 50-90% in about 2 hours. I've always heard you've got a 50% chance of it doing anything.
Thanks for the update @mander82 FX that baby decides to come out soon! I went in to have a sweep this morning and couldn't even have it done, my cervix was too closed. Baby is trying to stay put!
Yes my husband has decided to hit every pothole on the way home. I'm hitting Wendy's for a greasy cheeseburger and Dairy Queen for a pumpkin pie blizzard right now!!!
Doctor said he stripped my membranes (a little) lol whatever that means. I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. didn't hurt or feel different apart from the cervical check for me. Already cramping more... hoping that's a good sign. Set my induction date for Monday evening the 24th but Doctor said he doesn't think I'll make it that long!
Also had mine stripped today. MW said the conditions looked really good, 3cm and cervix very soft and stretchy. *fingers crossed* hopefully today or tomorrow is the big day LO finally makes an appearance.
You know I might be there with ya. I was crampy but now nothing. 3 walks, pumped tatas, tons of exercises to get baby out and I actually feel better than I have all week. I'm a little disappointed right now. She needs to get out!!!!
Update had mine done this morning. 1-2 cn dilated and 70% effaced. She said she had a hard time doing it because the baby wasn't coming down on the cervix well? It was pretty uncomfortable felt like she was shoving her whole fist there lol. Was crampy but now nothing so don't have high hopes she told me to come back Monday if no baby and try again. Otherwise induction next Friday. These babies of ours are too cozy!
I had them stripped last Friday. I was at 3.5-4 cm and 80% effaced, baby is LOW. I had some contractions Friday afternoon and some cramping and I lost (more) mucus plug over last weekend, but I am definitely still pregnant. Going in Sunday night to start the eviction process.
I don't think I'll even be eligible for stripping in my doc apt on Monday because baby still hasn't dropped. Grrrrr. Going to do a lot of walking this weekend to have gravity do its thing!
I was 3 cm dilated at my 37 week visit. At 39 weeks, she stripped my membranes and nothing happened. I lost my mucous plug yesterday so hopefully that's a sign of things to come! Kind of disappointed that the membrane stripping did nothing.
Had mine stripped Thursday. Still pregnant. Did kick start contractions but didn't progress from 4 cm and 80% effaced by Sunday during my trip to L&D. I'm disappointed.
I'm excited to get this done on Friday! I will be 39 weeks 2 days at that point. I've been trying everything else to try to get things moving! It didn't work with my first child so hoping this time it will. I was 2 cm 70 effaced at my 38 week appointment. Good luck to all you ladies too!!
membranes were stripped on Thursday, had cramping and discharge the rest of the afternoon, this weekend had some on and off contractions but nothing that didn't fizzle out. will have my 40 wk appointment this Thursday, will hopefully know if I progressed from the 1cm dilated I was last week. Didn't put me in labor though!
So my OB did this around noon today. I was "very thin" and 3cm, and she was very gentle so the actual sweeping was painless. As soon as I stood up after I felt a difference. She said there would be some bloody discharge and cramping. Contractions started almost immediately but haven't been regular.
For those who have been through this, how much/how long did the bleeding last? I remember the "bloody show" with DD, but it happened the same time as my MP and contractions were so strong, I went to the hospital within a couple of hours. Much different this time around, but I'm also just uncomfortable vs. excruciating pain so...
Just got my membranes swept today. 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. I am bleeding quite a bit and am crampy, but don't have high hopes for labor. I am just hoping it gets my cervix ripened a bit more. If I do go into labor, BONUS!
I had my membranes striped at 38+3 came home and had sex, within 15 minutes of being done with "the deed" my water broke. 18 hours later my baby boy came.
Oh man! I wish I could get H to dtd- he's so not into with lady baby's head right there. I lost my MP this morning and had my membranes swept, hopefully I'll see action soon!!! Congrats on your outside baby @bradsmommy !
Sunday started having contractions 10-15 minutes apart. They stopped Monday mid-morning. Monday (41w2d) had 1pm doc appt. 4cm & 80% effaced. Got membrane sweep done. Felt crampy the rest of the afternoon/evening. Started having some contractions when I was up & about, thought it was just my body irritated by the membrane sweep. 8pm I was cooking supper. 9pm we were dropping DS off a neighbor's house. 10pm we were settling into L&D room. Midnight baby was getting pushed out.
So for me, I gave birth less than 12 hrs after getting the membrane sweep done.
Late to update but I had my membrane sweep done last Thursday and... I'm still pregnant. Had the uncomfortable cramping and spotting but it didn't help bring on the labor. 39 weeks pregnant so I'm not overdue but would love nothing better to be able to hold the little man who's currently trying to find room to move around comfortably inside me. (I told him if he wanted the freedom to move around, then he'd have to come out!)

Baby boy arrived 11/13/14!
I will update and say that I am still pregnant.
Mine was done Monday morning. I have been having BH contractions, cramps, and losing clumps of MP. Still no baby as of Thursday.
I have abandoned all hope. Maybe they will do it again for me on Monday @ my 40 week appt. and I can get excited again.
