I'm off today for Veteran's Day Of course that means I'm wide awake at 4am, but that's nothing new....
Enjoy your day off
We call it Remembrance Day up here, but it's not a federal statutory holiday in all the provinces. I was surprised to learn my H still has school. He would normally have that off back in the states.
Don't you love when you feel like you've gotten great sleep, expect it to be late and wake up to realize you've only been asleep an hour and can't fall back asleep? Definitely a favorite of mine (
I ordered some more sale stuff off Vera Bradley's website the other day, just to return during my insomnia to see that it's buy one sale item, get another free! So, I re-ordered and got 4 free Christmas presents to cross off my to-do list! Woo!
I'm up! I have to work today, but I'm hoping traffic will be lighter due to Veteran's Day.
I haven't dealt with heartburn all pregnancy, but it's starting. Maybe this little guy is starting to infringe on my insides too much, and it's pushing up the stomach acid. I'm hoping apple cider vinegar and aloe juice can fix it!
Today I can hardly contain my excitement!!! We FINALLY get out new car! Out with the old in with the new!!! Of course not until 3pm but then I will promptly be taking it to get groceries and do other errands (that I have been saving for today so I had an excuse to drive it) I also am going to try out a new recipe in my crock pot that a friend tried yesterday and apparently delicious! Which is called Cheesy Buffalo chicken pasta and here is the website address if anyone else is interested: https://crockpot gourmet.net/2014/07/08/crockpot-cheesy-buffalo-chicken-pasta/
It won't work as a quick link for some reason so you may just have to copy and paste it.
But until all this, I am headed out to feed calves have a great day everyone!!
I have an OB appt this afternoon, complete with u/s to check placental position. I'm keeping my FX that all looks well, including my fluid levels, which were low last pregnancy.
Also, I feel kinda bad about this, but I told C I would be taking her to see the dr today. She said, "I don't like Dr. Jost." I told her that we love her because she makes our ouchies better. In reality, she's going to be getting the flu shot so she will probably dislike the place even more after today.
My crazy lady hormones possessed me to walk 5 miles home from the market yesterday (dh made me mad and dropped me off) and now I am hurting so bad! That was ridiculous of me!
Good deal on the car seat base! Kohl's is great. I got my PnP from them on a fluke while I was shopping for DD's bday and only paid $32! I may waddle on over to JCPenny today to use the $10 coupon I got. DH needs warmer clothes. He goes through them so much quicker than I do!
Baby in my ticker is getting chunky! I want a baby w/ some rolls this time! Even though my kids were great weights (8.4, 7.14 and 9.1), they all had chicken arms and legs!
Well we survived our trip back. We flew out at 5:30pm and got home at 10 last night. Flying with a toddler during the witching hour may have been one of the poorer life choices I've made. At one point she was full out melting down (with kicking and flailing) and I wanted to write my farewell on her magna doodle and jump out of the plane window!! She finally fell asleep and was fine after that.
We went to bed at 11 and she woke up and screamed from 5:00-6:30. Now the little turd is in there back asleep and I have to go to work. She did start doing a lot of cute things on the trip (saying "oh no!" and "all right!", and when she can't find someone she puts her hands up and has this big open mouth confused look... It's hilarious), so I guess we'll keep her. Hope everyone has a good Tuesday. If nothing else, at least it's not Monday!
Morning ladies, I've been making lunch the past two days, which means its 8 am and I've already eaten half my sandwich for lunch...whoops! At least traffic was light on way to work today and I brought my gym clothes so HOPEFULLY I can motivate myself to go to gym. Oh and its DH's first night off since last Wednesday so looking forward to seeing him tonight
@snowbaby1214, I would have fallen over at about mile .5 lol...so good for you for making it the whole five miles...next time make your husband walk and you take the car
Day off today. I'm gonna start my bedroom so I can have a friend come over tomorrow and help me rearrange the furniture. I figure it's time to get the cradle set up and ready for baby.
Today is my day off but I'm going in for a few hours because they begged. DH is spending the day with DS at the Fun Zone and I'm super jealous! I totally regret caving to pressure now.
I also have my GTT this afternoon(backof the pack.) I have been procrastinating for about a week so it's time to go get it done.
I ordered some more sale stuff off Vera Bradley's website the other day, just to return during my insomnia to see that it's buy one sale item, get another free! So, I re-ordered and got 4 free Christmas presents to cross off my to-do list! Woo!
I got my VB birthday coupon last week and haven't used it yet, I'll have to go check out the sale!
ETA: Ooh, it's free shipping right now, too! I started out by buying both the little rabbit story books that were $1.99 ea BOGO. Big spender, $2 for 2 books, haha. My bday coupon is 40% off a FULL PRICE item. I miss the $10 off anything ones they sent last year.
It's a glorious early morning here in the PNW! It's 30 degrees, and windy! I am so excited for cold weather. We lived in Texas for over 4 years and it never really got cold. I'm glad to have this weather again. I'll be even more glad when we get snow! Last year we got snow in January, so I just told my husband I hope baby makes his arrival in the morning while it's snowing.
We went to William Sonoma yesterday, and found the turkey roaster I want. ..... $249!!! Oye, seriously why so expensive!? I also looked at New knives. ... yup the ones I want are expensive too. One of them was $240, alone. I'm not holding my breath for any of those, because I really want 3 or 4 knives. Oh well....
My husband has today off. We are just gonna chill at home. I think he's gonna go get a free oil change and Starbucks, and fro yo since he's a veteran.
Speaking of coffee, I need some. I've been up since 4 am! What the heck!?
@BabyStandish@MusicFanatic I have Veteran's Day off and my two boys and I are driving into the suburbs to have lunch and meet up with my college friends. One has two kiddos my kids' age. Should be fun. However, my BIG decision today is to get my 2nd cup (aka Stbx PSL) on the drive THERE or wait until the drive HOME later in the afternoon. BTW-it's cold and rainy here which does not help my predicament!! Decisions, decisions....
I am sitting at work but I am not even mad... my normal 30-35 minute commute took 10 this morning!! I am sad though because DH has off so he is having a fun day with DD! I might sneak out early to spend the afternoon with them!

I vote both I am not a good influence though.
Word! Both.
I can't have coffee late in the afternoon, though- boo. I can't do coffee past 3pm or it impacts my sleep.
I want to shop SO BAD. In a real store. Reading about people shopping ( I miss going into stores.

@Edvent, glad you made it home! We flew with DS this past weekend too, but luckily it was only a 1.5 hour flight. We gave him lots of snacks and toys, and that kept him quiet most of the time. He hated when he had to sit down and wear his seatbelt. DH downloaded some movies for next time - I hope that works!
DH's car that was supposedly fixed a week ago just got towed to the dealership again last night for the same problem. For one, we are pissed because it was an expensive "fix" that only a dealership can do, and they are going to get an earful when they get back to us about what the actual problem is. Regardless, we are done (with his car). We are probably going SUV shopping this weekend. We weren't planning on buying a new vehicle for a few more months, but his car has had it.
@Shushubee, dealerships are awful. I bought a brand new car in January, and they recommended all these services when I went back at 15K miles - replacing the air filters, realigning the tires, A/C system flush, rear wiper replacement. (Which I never even used the rear wiper). I went to a normal service place that I trust, and they said half of the items on the list were unnecessary at this point, and the other half they did for about 40% less than what the dealership quoted. Jerks. But if the service for your H's car could only be done at the dealership, that sucks.
I think with car service places, it just depends on the place and the dealership. I 100% trust my service place. They will always let me know what work they recommend, the risk of not doing it, and the costs vs. benefits of the various repair options (dealership parts vs. after market parts, etc.). I have never had an issue with my car after any of their repairs.
The dealership just rubs me the wrong way. The service consultants are paid on commission, so I get the impression that they're trying to up-sell me. After reviewing their recommended repairs with my H and the other repair shop, it seems that not only are their prices high for the same repairs, but they are also recommending things that are not necessary.
I'm sure people can find great dealerships and awful local repair shops, and @TRexsmum, I'm glad you found a dealership you trust, but my experience was the opposite of that. And WTF to someone refusing to provide an itemized receipt without an additional charge. He just sounds like he was trying to take advantage.
I found out that I passed the 1 hour glucose test (yay!) but I've become mildly anemic. The doctor has called in iron supplements for me. The lady I spoke with was not the doctor, so I didn't ask many questions. I have an appointment a week from today, so I'll ask questions then.
In the mean time, is there anything I need to know? I am happy to google for myself if you all promise me that googling "anemia during pregnancy" isn't scary.
I had weird symptoms (for me) yesterday - nauseous, dizzy, heart racing...not all at once but at some point throughout the day I had them all yesterday. I talked to my doctor and she wanted me to get my bp taken this morning. Luckily we employ nurses at my job so I went next door and got my bp taken - it's normal. But the nurse is so sweet that she said to come back in a few hours and we'll check again just in case. If it's over 130/80 I have to go in to the doctor's office. So I like that I'm being well taken care of even at work.
I also don't feel those strange symptoms today so I'm relieved about that. Sounds like yesterday was just a bad day.
I do not have off for veteran's day and it annoys me. It's an important holiday and it annoys me that it's not universally observed.
@LadyXaverian, I am mildly anemic. There's a chart here of iron-rich foods. For the non-heme sources like spinach, take them with some vitamin C like a glass of OJ.
DS had school... boo. We made it to town fine. DS said it took forever though, lol.
So, creepy child story...
When I went to shower this morning I noticed DS's door was open. I always close it and he always does if he gets up in the night too. I made sure he was in there (he was) and went about my morning. When he woke I asked him about it. He says "yeah, I got out. Daddy was in the kitchen. I left it open so he could rub my back." (something we do every night). Ummm.... H is in MISSOURI! I was thinking just a dream/sleep walking, but he remembers it so vividly. Creeped me out.
:-?? Yeesh! That would have freaked me out too! Maybe he was just dreaming, sometimes I get very real, vivid dreams that I remember like it just happened.
@CrazyMonkeyBear-- I thought of you this morning when my husband, who has off today, woke me up as he finally went to bed at 3 AM. I actually thought "Ummm CMB is getting up for work right now."
This is exactly what I order when I got there any time it isn't breakfast. Except I get it without that ale mustard because I despise mustard.
I thought the crazy pregnancy dreams had ended. Nope. Last night I had a dream about tornadoes first. Like a shit ton of tornadoes that just kept touching down and going right back up. Freaked me the hell out, I'm kind of a chicken about them. Next I had a dream that I hooked up with DH's best friend. What the hell.

@saiven I took the day off today and slept in a bit, but not as late as I was hoping. (Up at 5:20 -- normally 5, my alarm was set for 6)

Nope! You're officially 8 months pregnant. You do what you want!

I wish I liked chicken livers! Yuck.
Also if you're taking an iron supplement, beware of constipation.
