Stretch Mark Remedies

Happy Friday!!!!!!!

I don't have any (yet) and want to try and prevent getting them. I bought Burt's Bees Mama Bee last month and seem to like it.

Do any of you fabulous ladies have other ideas, remedies or suggestions that you can share?

Please and thank you!

  • I use bio oil to keep from itching... I don't like the smell of coco butter.. So I'm trying this. Nothing will keep stretch marks from coming. You get them or not. My 5th baby I have a few tiny stretch marks... For me it was never a big deal if I got them.

Like the others have said, you'll either get them or you won't.  I got a few TINY ones around my belly button with DS (seriously nothing noticeable to anyone except me since I was constantly examining my belly).  With my twins, now I'm covered in them.  They wrecked my mid section but they're so worth it, it's not like I wear bikinis anyway.

  • Plastic surgery is the only way to get rid of them. I have them all over my hips. I've embraced them, they are proof that I carried two beautiful children in my body. They are my tiger stripes that I earned.
  • Can't prevent them BUT drinking tons of water gives your skin elasticity so drink tons of water.

  • Hey there! I bought Earth Mama Angel Baby Natural Stretch Oil to ease the itchy skin and hopefully lessen my chances of getting them.

My other piece of advice is watch your diet. Drink water, eat hydrating fruits and veggies to help your skin stay supple.

In my case, my mom was a healthy weight, exercised, and ate really well with all three of us. She has little to no stretch marks and what she has isn't really visible. My sister on the other hand was the total opposite of my mom. I refuse to throw my hands in the air and say "it's going to happen regardless", but that's just me. If it happens then at least I knew I did everything I could to prevent/lessen my chances.

  • I'm using Palmers cocoa butter and almond oil. Also pushing myself to drink a lot of water. Best luck to all the mommas. Hopefully we won't get that many scars.

I remember someone's Dr. told them not to use Bio oil based on an ingredient in it. I haven't used it, but just wanted to let you know.

  • Thanks for the input! I know there's a pretty good chance of getting them (and that's ok) BUT if I can take some preventative measures, I'm all about it!

Cheers to an easy and low stretch mark carry for all of us!

I make an awesome "pregnant belly oil" that is amazeballs.  I have been making it for friends for years.  While I know about the genetis of stretch marks and all everyone loves it!!

ETA: so fucking happy that I will FINALLY get to use some for myself!!!

  • I've been using Vitamin E oil. I know it's good for scars and moisturizing skin. I doubt it will do much, but it makes me feel like at least I'm being proactive.
  • Take a high dose of vitamin C (8-10g) daily throughout pregnancy and make a homemade body butter out of vit E, coco oil and a Shea or coco butter. Just my two cents. I won't throw my hands up. Stay hydrated.
  • @catmagick‌ ... So you're just gonna leave us all hangin on your amazeballs concoction? Do tell!
  • There's nothing you can do to prevent them. I thought I was in the clear with DS#1 but I got mine a few days before delivery. In time they will fade from purple to white and won't be too noticeable.

  • Apparently stretch marks are genetic! So hoping I'm like my mom and get none! But have been using cocoa butter anyway just in case. I used to bath in vitamin E oil and had a skin reaction to it. So had to stop that.

Welllllll why would I tell my secret recipe when I sell it on my herbals website for money????? ;-) j/k lolzzzzzz.  I got the recipe from one of my favorite books I got when I was in herbalism school.  It's basically just your favorite carrier oil (I use almond unless someone has a known allergy), cocoa butter, vitamin E and lavender essential oil.  All the best stuff for the skin.  The thing is with stretch marks and this oil is that even if stretch marks cannot be prevented due to genetics or whatever it can help to make the skin more supple and help them be not as bad and heal up quicker.  Although I do have to say that I have no report of stretch marks yet, so who knows? :::shrug:::

Well hell... Lol. thanks for telling me I never was told that! :-O
  • @catmagick‌.. Haha you're awesome for sharing your secrets ;)

I would have no problem just buying it from your website because i don't think I have the mental capacity of actually buying everything you mentioned..... And then knowing how much to use lol

    What's your website?
