Oh, the other advice was re: administering gripe water... For those with bottles, she said to put the nipple in his mouth, and when he starts sucking put the gripe water in the nipple so that he sucks it down. This avoids them getting it too quickly.
5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs. My rainbow arrived 10/15/14. TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.
For those who haven't seen me on Facebook going nuts...LO was admitted to the NICU a week ago today (4 days old) for dehydration and failure to thrive. Her blood sugar was 34 and she was urinating ketones. It was the scariest three days of my life. They still aren't sure what happened, but our guess is that her bilirubin was high enough from the ABO incompatibility that she was too drowsy to give feeding cues or fuss about being hungry. Her unresponsiveness trying to wake her up at midnight to feed her was our first real clue as first-timers. She's perfectly fine now, but now I have this complex that she's not eating enough and I'm really praying that she gets back up to birth weight this week or next.
I'm not sure but I think I might have a UTI. I've actually never had one before so I don't know if this hurting to pee thing is a UTI or if it's just to be expected until I fully heal.
And something a bit funnier: LO just unlatched by startling herself. There's milk running down her chin and she's drowsy, which generally means she's done for a while, but this kid is already gearing up for Broadway.
Those using nipple shields - anyone having a hard time getting them to stay "sticky?" I wash them with water, don't wash them, sterilize them, wash them with soap... They all just sort of fall off during latching, which makes things uncomfortable for everyone. They aren't cheap, so I was hoping they were a more-than-one time use investment.
My pedi said y oure supposed to warm them up in hot water first, then halfway invert the nipple to create a suction while placing them.

Also! I just had two glasses of wine since bf was ending for us. So nice to treat myself!
And my son just fell asleep in his bouncer for the first time and he slept around 30 minutes in his pnp this afternoon. So amazed that he is sleeping easier today!
But you may see me at the MOTN thread if unicorn baby vanishes!
@windwithfingers do you like wrapping him up? How long are you wanting to wear him (at a time)? Is the only thing about the Moby you don't like the heat? I would look at either type of Bali Baby (stretch or breeze) , a wrap conversion ring sling (I don't have one to help with sizes or shoulders though) or something similar. I'm not a fan of SSCs (like Ergos) but love wrapping my kiddos up tight!!!

Absolutely in love with our 'big' family!
I'm also a proud Auntie to a crazy little girl, her brand new baby sister, a little man on his way in the next month, and a sweet little mister we will miss forever!!!
@krazyinsane I like the wrap itself and he seems to like being wrapped up. I'd like to wear him around the house and when we go out, but he runs hot and has heat rash all over his face so I'm trying to limit anything that makes him sweat or be in contact with my skin long enough for either of us to sweat. I'll look into your suggestion. Thanks!
@keelyd that's one of the ones I'm looking at. Thanks!

Rocking baby Eli and listening to heavenly lullabies station on Pandora. Poor baby's belly s bothering him. he finally fell asleep. I am ready for bed but don't want to interrupt his sleep.
And like a magic button, 9 o'clock hits and we forget how to nurse and ugly baby cry about it until mom is at wits end. Not because of the crying, either. This latch-unlatch-repeat BS hurts like hell.
@crawford411 I'm thinking hormones, but everything he does just turns me off. He's so worried about sex and if I never touch him again it would be too soon...
@LightBright515 I'm Having THE opposite problem. I am all over dh and he keeps worrying and saying we can't do anything for 6 weeks. Bullshit! I'm fine. Now lay down and shut up! The other night I made out with him like a high schooler.
@PurpleHippo19 DS1 poops in the shower about once a month. It's so gross!
So, today DH picked up DD from preschool and took her to the park to play. He stopped at the store to get her something to drink. I can't classify it as food. It's called a "fruit shoot" and the 10oz bottle has 36g of sugar and is 10% actual juice :-w
@theresat858 I feel your agony on the boob in mouth or SCREAMING! They won't stop, all they want is boob & it's been like this ALL DAY LONG!!!! I'm losing my mind! I don't understand how they can even be hungry, this has been non stop! Please tell me it gets better!
