Re: Wednesday randoms

  • I wake up in the middle of the night paranoid that I fell asleep with the baby in the bed and now she's lost in the covers. She doesn't even sleep in our room, let alone in our bed. Why can't I shake yhis dream???

    Same here! I don't understand.

  • I just had a salesman come to the door. DD is sleeping. He knocked on the front door which isn't functional and blocked by DDs swing. When I opened it holding a sleeping DD, he asked if my parents were home. :|

Lol. That's so funny. What did you say? I would have just said "nope" because if you're that much of an idiot I don't want to buy what you're selling.
  • So many people have asked me if ds2 is my first. Then they are shocked when I tell them he's my third. I don't know why it is so shocking to them.
  • It has been 2 1/2 hours since LO ate last. I don't know whether to wake him or let him sleep. This has not happened during the day. Usually he is awake every hour and a half during the day unless he doesn't sleep at all.

@Cantisa‌ That would straight piss me off if a friend said that to me. Way to be supportive, asshole. I just started using a shield to allow my crater nips to heal and I am SO happy I did. It feels nice to breastfeed (cause that is what we are doing!) again without feeling pain, fear and frustration.

I can't wait for my nips to heal. I am amazed at how deep these fissures are and how long it is taking to heal.
  • @Cantisa‌ haha no one has ever asked about the state of my nips before. They're healed! It just sort of happened one day, but man, it took like 2 weeks for the right one to not hurt from that missing chunk.

  • @Cantisa‌ Same here! LO turned 4 weeks Monday and I finally feel like we are on the right track! I am just using the APNO at this point but I don't feel like it is helping all that much. I think I might have been over applying it and irritating my skin worse. I now use it once in the AM and once I the PM. Otherwise I use breast milk and airdry and it seems to be working. Finally! I also use a little lanolin because the rest of my nip is drying out while I try and help my fissures. Not fun!

I'm sorry you are going through this. But it is nice to know I'm not alone...
  • I would just like to state that my picky DD who still uses a nipple shield probably 70% of the time, latches just fine without it when she's having a good day and she still prefers breast over a bottle and she's over a month old. Nothing is wrong with bottle feeding and the shield is a very useful tool.

A friend told me that me nursing with nipple shield was just like giving dd bottles and it rubbed me the wrong way. I'm trying to heal my crater nipples okay?!

Great. I'd be fine with bottle feeding, but the shield saves me from having to pump then feed my baby who just doesn't want to latch without it. I'll take the extra sleep and a fed baby, and your friend can shove it ;)

  • So I'm putting all my Chilli ingredients in a pot on the stove to cook up for dinner. I tasted some to check my seasoning and spilt sauce down DDs white duck jammies...oops...

  • @FamousEa‌ the pedi called me back and said 3 weeks is fine. Wooo hook pressure relieved because he is only up to 10#7oz so still has 11oz to go. Definitely relived some pressure off my shoulders

@BreandMikewedding‌ that's how I was with DS1. I didn't take any pain meds. This time around I'm taking as much as I can. I had no pain for days and then all of a sudden frodaybi started getting some and it just has been getting worse. I am calling my doc tomorrow when he is in the office so I Dont have to talk to the random on call doc. I Dont has a 2 week appointment because he thought it was better for me to minimize my travel til the 5/6 week mark (live in KY on is in MI) when I am back for thanksgiving.

  • @crawford411 - I leave DD in her carseat but prop it back to a recline so that her neck is more straight.

  • Question - I think this belongs in the bf'ing thread but I am super behind on it and don't want to post there without reading everything first… If I pump and LO wakes up a few minutes later to nurse, can I still nurse her? I am wondering if my body should be able to produce more milk on the spot or if I need to feed her what I just pumped.

  • @vrj0522‌ Your body will provide milk on demand for LO so you can nurse even if you just pumped.
  • I'm pretty repulsed by my SO....
  • Does gripe water make anyone else's LO tired? I gave S some about an hour ago and after a somewhat scary choking episode, he fell asleep. I'm now terrified he aspirated or something. He coughed quite s bit when it happened, and just vomited digested formula about 10min ago. I did call the pedi (I'm so damn paranoid), and am awaiting a call back, but would love for the little guy to wake up and scream for me. He's moving around and smiling in his sleep, but I want a big yell to know he's okay....

DD will usually pass out but that's because she's been so uncomfortable when I finally give them to her she feels better and passes out!

    Nature's birth control?

But for reals, I hope it is something that passes with time.
  • @golfingdarwinfish‌

It seems to make DS tired. Twice when I've given it to him he's gone from screaming when I start to completely passed out when we're done.

A tip a friend gave me that really helped was to put it in their cheek, just a little at a time, and alternating sides. That way there's not enough for him to choke on and he doesn't taste it quite as much.
  • @FamousEa‌ @BreandMikewedding‌ how are you feeling 2 weeks out of surgery. I was doing great until Monday now I'm in amore pain than I was while in the hospital. I'm still taking my pain meds which is unheard of for me. I usually stop 3 days after surgery at the most ( I have had 5 abdominal hernia repairs and one other c/s)

My second week was 10x worse than the first. The dr said I probably overdid it because I was feeling good, and for three days it was HORRIBLE. By 3 weeks I was almost back to normal.

  • @MRSclarke08‌ totally hot mom status! I wore DD to the store. Didn't work, one of DH's friend's mom still touched her face. i came home and washed her face. Sorrynotsorry you work at the grocery store what about touching a baby's face seems like a good idea?

  • @AmandaJean12‌ thank you for that. I am hoping that's all I did. Because I went from no meds to barely being able to get out of bed or off the couch. I was all hunched over like the first time you stand up after a c/s.

Oh and @BreandMikewedding‌ I am happy you are feeling so great! I don't hold grudges. I am sure my pain I did to myself haha.

Any other c/s moms that don't feel the "urge" to pee. I never feel like I have to pee i just go when I realize its been a while and then my bladder cramps like something fierce. This has only been since the pain came back a few days ago. Sorry I have been a hot mess this recovery.

  • @erinchrisitne424‌ i had the same problem. It's a common issue after a c/s. It took me about a month to feel like i have to pee again.

  • @crawford411‌ I'm thinking hormones, but everything he does just turns me off. He's so worried about sex and if I never touch him again it would be too soon...
  • I got my Motherlove nipple cream from Amazon today. I'm hoping its the miracle that saves me. The reviews made it sound like an amazing thing, so FX that it helps and I can finally start throwing DD on the boob again. [-O<

I just asked about it on my own, and my pedi gave me the ok.
