Taking LO to get weighed again today hoping he is making the climb toward birth weight. DS1 decided to wake up at 6 luckily he agreed to go back to sleep on the couch for a bit.
Woke up at 6 am with a super engorged left boob and a baby who wouldn't wake up to nurse...like pressed his lips together hard when I tried to latch him. Finally got him to wake up and take some pressure off.
Not sure what I did. Maybe nursed just on the right all night? I'm too tired to pay attention anymore. Lol
Cue ugly cry this morning, because DD2 was up every hour to an hour and a half (not her normal schedule) and DD1 decided to get up at 6:30, two hours before her normal wake up time. Moms of 2, how do you deal with your older ones on days you are exhausted?
So sometimes when DD unlatches milk starts squirting from my boob. I have to put pressure on it to make it stop and keep it from getting all in DD's hair. It's freaking me out. This happening to anyone else. Im wondering if she's in latching because it's squirting and coming to fast for her? I tried to google it but only porn stuff came up. Awkward.

This might be a dumb question but is dd 1 month old when she turned 4 weeks or is it the day of the month she was born(i.e. born October 3 turns 1 month November 3) every month?I'm probably way over thinking this but I'm sleep deprived.

DS was born on Sunday 9/28, so on Sunday 10/26, he was 4 weeks. On Tuesday 10/28, he was 1 month.

A hasn't pooped in 24 hours. Freak out or give it until the afternoon?
We switched formulas yesterday from supplementation to advance. Also google is freaking me out because it says if she hasn't gone and her belly is big, it's an emergency. We've both been commenting on her Buddha belly.
I had my first alcoholic beverage post baby last night. Why did I think that would be a good idea? I was already exhausted and that little bit of alcohol just made it 10 times worse. I can barely stay awake to feed lo.

DD went four days before she pooped. We called the doctor a couple times and they gave us recs to help her constipation. They said a distended belly not a chubby stomach... Like does she normally have a little chubby belly? If so, don't worry I don't think.
Is she having wet diapers? That is what they were most concerned about. And they asked if she had a fever.
So I guess I am saying give her a few hours and then call.
DS had the biggest poop ever last night. If I had picked his diaper up wrong it would have poured out of it. So gross.
DD did on Sunday night too. The worst part - we were at church. Our pastor called a special meeting so we all head up to the front of the room and as soon as he begins praying, LO lets out this explosion that goes straight through her diaper, pants, and blanket, up her back, onto my hand, drips out onto my clothes and the floor! No kidding! It was terribly embarrassing and stank!

LOTS of wet diapers. I guess I don't know the difference between a distended belly and a chubby belly? No rolls. It just looks like a beer belly or a pregnant belly after she eats. I googled and of course now I'm convinced it's distended. I don't want to be stupid. She seems happy, hungry, and she sleeps well if that means anything.

My first two got horrible constipated on formula. She's probably fine, but I would probably just check in the pedi for what to do to treat it.

some tv/movie on my laptop in my bed because I hate napping in my living room.
I keep a box with coloring books and crayons, recycle paper, and pens for them to doodle on
I'm only alone with them once or twice a week for a few hours really but when I am that's basically what we do.

This happened to me this AM, I had to hand express to relieve pressure bc little one wouldn't wake up to eat. It only took 3 drops to make it tolerable.
I think I double fed on the other side the day before bc we were NIP and injust went with whatever was easiest.
Not sure how I'm going to make it through this day. DD has been cluster feeding since Sunday (6 week growth spurt time) and today she has a pedi appt, I have an ob appt, I have to go to the bank and grocery shopping. How does that work with a cluster feeder?

That'll be rough for the bank and groceries, but I'd nurse in the waiting room at both Dr appointments. And one of our grocery stores has a cafe like area at the front I'd nurse in if I needed to. Do any of yours have something like that?
After a shitty night of sleep (maybe 3 hours total) I got up at 8 and did my make up (#feelingsomewhatnormalbutreallyfuckingtired) and started getting ready for DD's pedi appt this morning. Got a call. The doctor is sick and they have to reschedule. Gah! Since I'm up and looking somewhat normal, I'm taking DD to my family's restaurant to visit and dropping into DHs work so the office lady's can meet her too. Give me all the caffeine.
So DS managed to sleep for 3 hours but I didn't because he was snorting and kicking all night long plus he had a diaper blowout and basically slept through that cleaning process.
My mom has him downstairs now so I get to sleep a little longer, but only an hour before I have to get up and shower for when MIL gets here at 10:30. I'm taking all the naps today.

1) Disney movies and cuddles. 2) Play dough, paint, anything quiet and messy that'll come off in a quick bath. 3) Coffee. Closely followed by wine.
My unicorn baby was replaced last night with one who woke up every two hours and cluster fed between midnight and 3 am. I hope unicorn baby returns soon and will once again sleep for a 5 hour stretch overnight.

I think my milk is drying up. They don't get hard or painful anymore. I can still express some when I manually squeeze, but not like over the weekend. Gavin just straight up refuses to nurse. Annnnd, I should be getting my pump by tomorrow at the latest.
Can you restimulate production with a pump after the milk has already started to decline?

Can you restimulate production with a pump after the milk has already started to decline?
Absolutely. Even if you stopped nursing/pumping altogether, you could relactate. But a decline in supply should be fairly easy to bring back up. It takes a few days.
So do you have a manual pump to use while you wait for your double electric, or have you been hand expressing? I wonder why Gavin won't nurse...have you seen an LC?
Softness of your breasts doesn't mean your supply is low, but perhaps that it is reduced somewhat or has regulated. Full breasts signal a reduction in supply, so it's actually better for them NOT to get full - better to nurse before they fill up to maintain your supply.

Really good info, thank you. I don't have a manual pump, but I've been trying to hand express daily as well as trying to get G to nurse.
When the docs were concerned with his jaundice, they wanted me to supplement formula after everytime we nursed because the bilirubin is expelled in poop, and because he was losing weight. He is a realllly lazy eater, both on the breast and bottle, so I'm assuming he is refusing the breast because a bottle is easier and more satisfying.
So, I tried to have my mom help me with the bulb syringe on lo's nose the other day. She insisted that I only needed to do that if he was super snotty, congested, and runny. But, I can see big boogers in his nose. Should I try to get them out, or do what she said?
She's right... I learned my lesson with DD#3 it causes the blood vessels to expand thus making their air passage smaller.

Absolutely in love with our 'big' family!
I'm also a proud Auntie to a crazy little girl, her brand new baby sister, a little man on his way in the next month, and a sweet little mister we will miss forever!!!

That sounds likely. The bottle flow is just so fast and so little work.
Are you bottle feeding still? You could consider switching to using an SNS at the breast, which would provide an instant reward at nursing while stimulating milk production for you. It can help ease the transition back to breast from bottle.
Also lots of skin to skin and keeping the breast a happy place to be. You might also be able to pump for a minute to stimulate a letdown before you nurse (once your pump arrives) so that Gavin doesn't have to begin the nursing session with that work.
I think sleep deprived postpartum brain is worse than pregnancy brain. I just spent 15 minutes cleaning up my flooded kitchen because I forgot I was filling a water jug. Uggg.
I have just discovered that the light fixture over my kitchen table seems to function like a mobile and LO is transfixed by it! This is going to make preparing my morning coffee so much easier.
Also he loves his make shift baby nest. Hopefully these two things combined mean I can get something accomplished while he naps!
