Last night was a shitshow. I think it was teething, but LO was wide awake at times he is never awake. And at 630, he decided he was up for the day. Fun times.
We have to go to church today, and then I'm really hoping for some mama time. I want to go to kohls, and I want/need/deserve a nap.
Also LO is waking up soaking wet -- all three layers -- every morning. We even went up to size 3 diapers for night, and this morning was the worst yet. We've been using a pack of target diapers the past few night. I think tonight we'll switch back to Pampers to see what happens.
@shellbell3845 - one of the tricks we had to use on DS 1 was two sposies at night. he stayed dry, and the outside diaper was dry enough to be first morning diaper.
With DS2, we put a cloth diaper cover over a sposie to catch any leaks. Probably cheaper than the two-diaper option.
So my A/S and OB appointment didn't go as well as I had hoped yesterday.
LO has a choroid plexus cyst on his brain with OB said is fairly common and usually resolves on its own, but they are offering me the MarteniT21 test to check for any chromosomal abnormalities. There have been no other indicators to make them believe that is the case but they want me to take the test anyway.
They also saw something called an amniotic band. It's when part of the cervix fuses together and forms threads or a sheet that the baby could possible get tangled in. However the OB didn't seem to concerned and said the baby is large enough at this point where it would not cause any damage.
I am going back in three weeks to see if these issues have resolved.
Lastly, I've had TWO indeterminate TB tests. The OB left the decision up to me whether or not I want to have a chest X-ray done but he suggested wating until after the baby is born. I spoke to an infectious disease specialist and he seems to think I was exposed at some point but since I am not exhibiting any symptoms it's best to leave it alone for now. If I want a chest X-ray after I give birth we can discuss the option then.
Other than that mess of information everything is else fine. Trying not to stress about anything until blood test results and follow up ultrasound in a few weeks.
Daylight savings was too bad for us. A woke up at 12 but was able to fall back to sleep cuddling with his little stuffed monkey, Walter. He woke up at 5 - his usual wake up is around 6-6:30 so I just brought him to my bed and we slept for another hour before getting up for the day. It may be time for a nap now he's getting a little cranky!
We're stuck inside most of the day. NYC Marathon is today and they run right down our street so we will be watching from our windows!
The flu has hit our house. DH, DS1 and I have it. My SIL picked up DS2 and DD so hopefully they don't get it.
DS1 threw up all over the bed and it soaked through the waterproof matress pad and on to the mattress. Anyone have any tips on how to save the mattress? TIA
I'm very blah today and I need to shake this funk! I had some crazy dreams (like preparing for the Apocalypse type dreams) and they've stuck with me this morning. I hate when dreams are so realistic that they infiltrate your mood the next day.
H leaves for work soon. Not sure what W and I will be doing. @iwubrory has me wanting to start decorating for Christmas!
So DS woke up an hour earlier than normal even after keeping him up past his normal bedtime. He's having a proper toddler meltdown right now so maybe he shoulda thought about that before getting out of bed.
DD woke at her normal time which is now too early. I hope she adjusts soon, otherwise i won't be getting my morning quiet time before work.
@kella0708 I'm glad your doc has calmed you. T&Ps that your next appt goes well.
@kella0708 we do a blood test for tbst...and its ok for pregnant women and more reliable than a skin test. Maybe ask about that?
Both tests that came back indeterminate were the quantiferon gold TB screening (blood test). The last time I had a PPD was April 2013 - I thought it looked a little funny then but the NP at the hospital I work for said it was negative so I never gave it a second thought.
Hey so when do babies stop flipping their shit when they have to get clothing on? I'm talking full blown melt downs over being forced into a onesie. The minute I let her go she's fine, but trying to get this child clothed is like trying to put an outfit on a pissed off cat.

Welcome to my world. I want to say this better end soon, but I'm pretty confident it's not going to get better any time soon. Maybe when they can self dress?
I really don't feel like parenting today. And I'm irrationally annoyed that we don't get TLC as part of our cable package, because 19 Kids and Counting is on and it's Jill and Derrick's wedding, and I've never seen that one, and what kind of stupid cable package excludes TLC?!???
I'm annoyed. I have three errands to run plus I'd like some quiet alone time, but all of a sudden DH has a work project today. If I would have known, it would have been him getting up at 6am.

We just hit this stage about two days after she started crawling. Like, full-blown scream like we're torturing her meltdowns for clothing and diaper changes.
We're considering just letting her be a diapered nudist at home.
We get full blown meltdowns while getting dressed as well. It's worse when I'm trying to get a diaper on. It helps to let her hold herself up on the ottoman while putting a onsie on. I've managed to learn how to get pants on while she's crawling. But I don't know how to get a diaper on while she's moving. If anyone can manage that, they deserve a Nobel prize.
@codypup hugs mama. I had the same day yesterday. I was longing for a day from pre-kid times when I could just veg on the couch. And then I feel guilty. But I have to remind myself that it's ok to have these days every once in a while. Being a mom is freakin' hard!
I'm so happy to have time to contribute to the board again. I hope I can keep it up! Stupid work.
I don't remember who mentioned singing the ABC's to their LO while changing their diaper, but we started doing this and it has helped keep DD calm. I start singing as soon as I have the old diaper off, and she will usually stay still for the entire song which is enough time for me to put on diaper cream, fasten the diaper, and pull the elastic out around her legs. :-bd
This. We do 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed. Sometimes we repeat a verse. Good thing LO can't count yet.
I'm watching the latest episode of Scandal and my hometown was mentioned as the place a former president was almost assassinated. I think someone in Hollywood has a thing for that city and my birthday. I've seen both come up a lot on tv shows and movies.

Eta if you need more support or have specific questions, please don't hesitate to start a new thread. We're here for you mama!

I'm also upset that DH is getting an extra coffee.
I'm hoping the snow will start soon. It has been odd that Halloween came and went and there's been no snow. I'm ready!
I hope everyone have a great Sunday!

I just deposited LO in the jumperoo. Maybe he'll jump himself to sleep.
I know you're supposed to do whatever while they nap but can we just not today?
