Am in the only one disappointed in Carter's selection for girls items? Any other kids stores that I'm over looking? I don't care for Children's Place things either and my broke ass can't afford hoity toity stuff.

They didn't have crap for boys either. It was mainly pj's or onesies. I'm wanting some sweaters and warm stuff since he won't be wearinga coat in the car seat. I've even been checking TJ Maxx and Marshalls with no luck.

Kohl's Jumping Beans brand? I also find decent deals on all sorts of brands on Amazon.

Anybody with pre-K age kids/relatives/students know anything about Magna-Tiles? I see them raved about constantly. I know DS1 plays with them, or maybe the Magformers,at school and I'm contemplating buying him a set for Christmas but $120ish is a lot to spend. Like most of his big toys I'd consider it an investment that hopefully DS2 and any 3rd child if we have one would get use out of, as well, but I'm still on the fence about it.

My kids in my Pre-K class have these, they LOVE them. They're also really sturdy so it is a pretty good investment, the kids have thrown them, smashed them and i've even stepped on them and they survived. I even think they're really fun and great for sensory learning as well, the sound of the magnets snapping together, the feeling of the raised ridges and the bright see through colors!

This is the larger kit, they are having a sale this weekend 20$ off 100$ so it'd only be about 80ish if you wanted the big kit, but I think you could get away with the smaller version if it will be just for DS1.

The quality? The selection?

I'm not a fan of the colors Carters uses for girls. OshKosh (same company) typically is much more bold and more variation. If you're on their website, always toggle over to OshKosh and check out the selection.

My 4-year-old had a poosplosion today. He had an upset tummy and didn't make it to the toilet in time. Won't ever complain about the baby's again...

Celebrating right along with @stellabunny. DD's baptism was also yesterday and we also had no incidents in the heirloom christening gown (pretty sure it's pushing 100 years old). She also was perfect during the entire ceremony. It was lovely.

Going to AW a bit here: Where I work we have a breastfeeding program which means I get to take DD to work with me and she stays in my office with me until she is six months old.

She rarely naps more than 45 minutes. Today I brought her Zipadee Zip so she could start taking naps in it. I put her in the bassinet I have and she slept for 45 minutes. She woke up super fussy and still tired and I couldn't get her back to sleep, so I finally grabbed the car seat and put it on my desk so I could see her while I worked, she fell asleep in it and has been asleep for over an hour. I guess it must be because she is sitting up and maybe the reflux has been bugging her.

I don't know but it's a freakin miracle!

My daughter has started to "sing" to us every morning when she wakes up until we wake up. She's super happy about it and it's very sweet, except 1. It's at 4-5:00am now with the time change. 2. Her singing is more of a happy scream than a song

DS is always so happy first thing in the morning. I call him "the good morning baby" lol. He just laughs and grins and acts all bashful and giggly. It's too precious... now the evenings are another story. It's like "Sir screams a lot" shows up

DS has been like this from the beginning. Now that he's learning songs I get woken up by his variations on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or the ABCs. He never really screams, unless we leave him for awhile, but I like to think he knows in the morning if it's still dark, mommy and daddy aren't coming yet. Some weekends we can get a full hour out of him.

Heard a funny noise coming from the wood stove earlier, told MiL who said it was probably just damp wood crackling, sent FiL to investigate and it turned out to be a chimney fire so we had the town fire department rock up; 2 fire department SUVs first and then a full-on fire truck. DD1 was so excited about seeing the flashing lights and having a fire crew wandering around the house in all their gear! OH's working late so he has no idea.

Everyone's fine, the stove fire was only one log at the time so one of the fire fighters cleared it all out into a metal bucket and dumped water on it in the yard and there were firefighters in the basement, ground level and on the roof checking it all out. The chimney needs to be cleaned out and there's a crack somewhere at the top of the chimney that needs to be looked at but that's all. They're thankful for the steel insert in the chimney or it could have been a lot worse since it's a wooden farmhouse. I'm so glad FiL was there to notice the problem since me and MiL would have dismissed it as damp wood.

I think the fire truck and entire team was overdoing it a bit but better that than not enough kit and crew if it had been serious.

FiL is away with work a lot of the time too so it was lucky timing that he was there and that this happened now with enough time to get everything patched up before the cold really hits.

PSA: maintain your chimneys and wood stoves!

Can't let this thread go.

I'm back at work and last week and yesterday were bearable, but today I'm having such a hard time. He was asleep when I got home yesterday and only wanted to sleep this morning.. it almost makes me regret having a baby because I never see him. It's killing me.

Soon these little boogers will wake us up at the crack of dawn to play. Since there're still so little you're right, they do sleep a lot. Don't feel bad.... Working and trying to spend time with baby can be hard but I'm sure you're doing a fantastic job!

It's very hard when they are that little and innocent and precious. Then they turn 2 and you would do anything to have them stay asleep. It's an ongoing war where you are constantly living in a battle with a hot headed toddler and trying not to bust through the wall like the Kool-Aid man to get away from it.
