I don't think babies should be brought trick or treating. I'm not talking about going with older siblings, I'm talking about the parents who dress up their non-walking infant and strolls them up to doors asking for candy. The baby doesn't eat it- buy your own candy if you want some.
My daughter is a walking, talking 2.5 yo toddler and I still don't feel comfortable taking her trick or treating yet. We are taking her to a neighbors house that we are friends with and that's it. Otherwise, I would eat all the other candy like you said. Maybe next year I will take her to a few more houses...

    So much this!

Next year, I want to dress my LO up and walk around with my niece (who will be 4) just so I can show him off. My niece has a little sister coming so we'll have two babies in the family to dress up. So much cuteness next year!

  • Not a huge fan of Nutella, but I love Frozen.. I'm a sucker for most things Disney, no matter how dull or predictable. I also love singing along. My brother put on the Hunchback of Notre Dame (admittedly not one of Disney's best), and was surprised I remembered most of the lyrics, and also was reminded how much I loved the music. Many of the newer Pixar films are amazing (Up, Wall-E, Cars).

Also, cilantro stinks!! I used to have to handle it at an old job (movie theater, we would make nachos grande and quesadillas) to put in the pico de gallo. Not to mention the onions. STINKY.

  • I don't like Nutella unless it's in brownie form (just Nutella and eggs, so good!).
I've never seen Frozen. I don't plan on seeing it any time soon.
I like cilantro, but understand some people just can't stand the stuff.
I agree with @Britt1406 on babies going trick or treating.
I believe my most UO is: I don't consider white chocolate real chocolate. It's weird, it doesn't taste good. It's just... wrong.

  • I'm glad I saw Frozen before the marketing went out of control. I loved it. I think part of the magic was seeing my daughter watch it in a theater for the first time. I tear up thinking about her reaction. It will always be special to me because of that. Also, now that she's going to have a sister, even more so.

Even when I break it down, I like it much better than most other Disney movies. My other favorites are The Lion King, Aladdin, and Tangled, but I was never a fan of Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid etc...

    Nutella- meh
    Cilantro- meh

I can live without either one in my life.

I thought Hunchback was a good film, granted it did have it's more awkward parts [Like the gargoyles. I would've liked to see them as purely part of Quasi's mind, not real/alive at all], but it was very adult for Disney to do that. Though, they did have to leave out quite a bit for it to be..ehh, kid-friendly. The whole story's just too dark and adult for a kids' studio to fuss with, I'm still confused as to why they did it

  • H and I went on a date to see Frozen when it was in the theaters. I'm pretty certain we were the only adults there with no kids.

Haha! I like what you did there. I actually don't mind hashtags when they are funny.

My twitter hate is not so much the hashtags, it is more because I don't get how the hell it works!

  • I loved frozen! I don't like all the hype with the song, it was good but could have stayed that way if the media had not blown it up and ruined it. I have an older sister so I thought it was sweet that the "true love's cure" was their sisterly love. I wish they would get away from all the "romance" that is the center of most kids movies. But I do LOVE disney movies (and other cartoon movies)! Im really looking forward to all the kiddy movies to come!

I like cilanto, but there isn't much in the food category that I don't like (now I want Mexican thinking about salsa!) I've never tried nutella but it looks good :-) & @honeybeee3‌ I don't get Twitter either! Its confusing! With no freaking instructions!

I think that's what I meant when I said not their best, out of all the 'classics,' they chose Hunchback? They had to change WAY too much for it to be kid-friendly and it definitely lost a lot of content because of it (Hunchback also happens to be one of my favorite books of all time lol), It's such a dark, depressing story. BUT, like most movies, Disney picked it up, polished it, and gave it a happy ending, and I'll still always love it. lol.

  • Nutella is just good. Nothing more, nothing less. I hardly eat it though.

Cilantro is good in guacamole, salsa and that's probably it. I love the smell!

I don't get the hype over frozen either. I've seen bits and pieces of it and it did nothing for me. I don't even care for the songs. It seems like a lame movie.

Trunk or treating is dumb. I miss the good old days trick or treating going door to door. .. That's how it should be. I even think trick or treating in the mall is dumb.

I agree with a PP about adults dressing their infant up to trick or treat, buy your own damn candy and save my candy for kids who dress up, walk door to door and can actually enjoy the candy, and the holiday.

  • I haven't been to Bath and Body Works since high school.

I get most of my bath and body products as freebies from my dad (he travels a lot on business) or CVS, and I buy candles from TJ Maxx or Bed Bath & Beyond.

Same thing happened to me but with Hercules.  Now, I was working at a movie theater when Hercules came out and I watched it several times, but I was surprised how many of the songs I remembered.  Kids were impressed too.
  • Oh. Another uo:

I just had Chipotle for the first time. Overpriced mediocre food. Hardly a menu at all!

    Everyone RAVED about this place.

  • @raveness - I've heard before that white chocolate isn't actually chocolate. I've never looked it up but that seems like it could make sense.

I have a serious question for all of the cilantro haters. Do you not like Mexican food? Like, fresh salsa...it's always in there. Do you not like that? I ask because I love cilantro and I love Mexican food...they go hand in hand to me.

Last night I was making some fresh salsa but my cilantro had gone bad. Now THAT smelled disgusting. It was pretty horrendous.  We had cilantro-free salsa last night.

My UO is that I hate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Why do we make such a huge deal (seriously, there's pink EVERYWHERE) about "awareness" for a disease that's 99% cure-able when there are so many other causes that need attention and donations so much more? October is also Lupus Awareness Month, National Diabetes Month, and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If anyone hears of a 5k run that's supporting a women's shelter or nutrition education for underpriviledged families, please let me know. If they're out there, they're rare. I know boobs are sexier, and it's much more "ra ra, go team!" to support a cause that's winning, but it still rubs me the wrong way.

To be clear, this is in no way meant to devalue the fight that women diagnosed with breast cancer have to go through. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and those women are badass.

  • I bought nutella thinking I would like it, since I love chocolate and hazelnuts, and any candy that has the two...

I had it on one slice of toast and I never had it again,  it sat in my cupboard and is probably still there.  Not my thing, I will pick peanut butter toast over it every time.

  • @luckylady18 - to answer your question.  I love Mexican food, but hate cilantro.  Typically I check most salsa to see if they even add cilantro into it before I buy it.  I can handle a little bit, but there are some restaurants around here that go way too happy with the cilantro in everything & it overpowers all the good flavors going on for me, so I typically avoid those places, or have a few dishes I know won't be covered in it.

Breast cancer only has such great survival rates because of early detection, brought to you by Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Stage 2 only has a 93% survival rate, Stage 3 72% and Stage 4 22%.  "Survival rate" also only refers to the chances to surviving past 5 years.

This was one of our UOs earlier in the month. I agree with you that Breast Cancer Awareness Month has largely lost its effectiveness. Where I find slight issue with your statement is that it's 99% curable. It's not. Women still get breast cancer and die. A lot of women. And that is tragic.

That being said, yes, heart disease is the leading cause of death in women (followed by lung cancer) and yes, domestic violence kills more women than most diseases. But, let's not diminish the losses associate with breast cancer just because the awareness campaign has become too effective.

I guess my UO since I've seen so many people complain about it, is that I love breast cancer awareness month. Seriously I am so impressed with the marketing. It was genius! The Susan G Komen 3 day walk stands out because it isn't just a typical 5 k. 3 days makes it such an amazing bonding experience walking with survivors and those you have lost loved ones to the disease is inspiring, and an event you might choose to participate in every year. Making everyday items in pink and telling people the money goes towards breast cancer research, such a smart idea. I personally would have wanted to buy the pink items anyway, so for me it's just a bonus that hopefully the money is going where they claim. Approaching the nfl about participating in the awareness campaign, again genius! It makes the nfl look good, and you see pink in a place you sure wouldn't expect which gets your attention.( I did think it was weird there was no pink at the London game the lions played at. Didn't want the Brits to think the guys and the sport were too girly?).

Basically I'm just saying I'm majorally impressed with the marketing. It truly is everywhere. Of course if you get into the nitty gritty, money doesn't go where you think it's going. Ceo's of nonprofits make way too much money. Companies aren't donating, like they claim, etc. All of that is really sad, but other nonprofits are run pretty similarly unfortunately. You have to do a lot of research to find a nonprofit that is using their donation money 100% they way it should be. I know there's other great causes to donate your money to, but the argument against breast cancer research is there's too much of it? I think some other charities should hire those genius people from marketing, and get them to come up with ways for people to pay attention to their charities. Take ALS for example this year. It's a charity most people never think of, all they needed was people to start dumping ice on their heads, and suddenly they were breaking records with donations. You have to find a unique way to get people's attention to stand out from other charities. In my mind breast cancer awareness achieved that. The awareness campaign has saved lives, which is the most important part. I hate that people are taken advantage of, but let's not hate on the marketing just because it's been so effective in getting everyone's attention.

  • I agree that the marketing behind the Breast Cancer Awareness month was highly effective and it's pretty amazing. But it irks me too that EVERYTHING is pink and if you buy x product, you're "supporting" the cause. People buy pink stuff and don't really do research about how much of their $$ is actually going to the cause. Like any time you give to charity, you should see how much of your donation is actually going to research/finding a cure and not just to the non-profit's overhead costs.

i also agree that there are so many other causes that need some attention -domestic violence, heart disease, other more rare forms of cancer. But I guess they don't have the genius marketing people that the breast cancer charities do...

I have to kinda agree with you.  I feel that the "Awareness" needs to get passed around between all the other things.  I did the Light the Night walk this Month for Lymphoma/Leukemia instead of Breast CA. Also, I don't know how true these stats are, but I heard more women die of Domestic Abuse each year than of Breast CA.
