What will baby sleep in as a newborn?

Re: What will baby sleep in as a newborn?

  • During the day DS will sleep in the Rock n' Play or Swing. At night I find it easiest to move them right into their crib. With our first we tried the pack n play in our bedroom and our poor son couldn't get any rest because my DH snores so loudly. Our nursery is right next to our room so we tried the crib with our second DS and it made a world of difference.

  • We bought a pack n play with a newborn napper. We will keep it beside the bed until he's ready for the crib.
  • Nora went straight to her own crib in her own room. We had a PnP ready just in case but she did perfectly. So, we'll have the same set up this time. Crib ready to go, and a PnP for our room as a back up.

  • Babe will sleep in the cradle that my sisters and I all slept in next to our bed. And then, a transition to crib/pack 'n play.

  • Rock N Play in our room, it was a lifesaver for us last time. We'll also use the PNP until we're ready to move him to his own room.

  • LO will sleep wherever she wants to sleep! Haha, but seriously.....yeah.
When our first was born, we planned to put him in his crib to sleep. Didn't happen, so we tried the pack 'n play. Nope. Tried the swing, and he only kinda sorta liked it for naps. He wanted to co-sleep at night (which I never planned at all!), and that's what we did for almost two years. At that point, he easily transitioned to his own bed without any issues.
When DS2 was born, I planned to co-sleep again. Nope, he hated it. We tried the swing and the pack 'n play, but he hated them too. He was a really colicky baby, and didn't sleep for like a month. Fun times, I tell ya! Eventually, I figured out that he wanted to sleep alone and on his belly. So, that's what we did. He slept in the pack 'n play in our room (on his belly!) for about 18 months, then we transitioned him to his crib. To this day, he still sleeps on his belly.
This time around, I have no expectations for sleep. She will sleep whenever and wherever she prefers, and I will sleep then too! ;)
  • Her crib in her room. We tried the whole pack n play in our room with dd. She hated it. We hated it. Live and learn.

  • For our first, we started with the infant sleeper part of the pack n play. He grew out of that really fast and we had a hard time getting him to sleep flat, so we used a rock and play until 6 months. The transition out of rock and play sucked so I'm going to try to avoid the rnp all together this time. We will start with a co sleeper crib that connects to our bed and see how that goes. I will do whatever I can to get sleep because we will have a 21 month old at home.

  • We inherited a bassinet from SIL when DD was born. She slept in that (at the foot of our bed) until she was 11 weeks. After that, she slept in her crib in the nursery.

    Jan 15  NOV siggy challenge:

  • We will be using the rock n play next to my side of the bed, like we did with DD. I love that thing, so convenient. After that, once he's sleeping more at night, we will transition to his crib in his nursery.

  • With our first we tried the PnP but I didn't like how he laid in it. So then day 2 went out and bought a bassinet. He started having reflux so we tried the swing, which worked and we finally slept!!! So we will just do the swing near our bed this time. I still have the bassinet though if this one doesn't mind being flat.
  • My mom had my brother n I's bassinet fixed up for me so we will use that in our bedroom, pack n play in the living room when he's napping n I'm doing house work n eventually we will transfer him to his crib in his own room when he's ready... but I'm a FTM so we will c how this works out, I'm being optimistic lol :-)
  • She will be sleeping in the bassinet beside the bed for a bit, then hopefully transition to our non-existent crib later. (Don't have a crib yet)
Same thing I did with the first one :)
  • Bassinet. Used it with both girls. Worked great. They stayed in our room for 3-4 months even though they slept through the night before that. No problems transitioning to the crib.
  • I have a Rock n Play and a Pack n Play. I think I'm going to use the PnP in our room unless there is a reflux issue or something.
