    BFN is official.

    Question for you all: Would you go directly into a FET if allowed or take off a cycle?

    AFM: still waiting in laboratory hell waiting for day 5 results.  I put DH up to calling today (day 3) to see if they are even still going, but the nurse said they normally don't check until day 5 but she would see what she could find out.  Cruel and unusual punishment.

  • I'm still not so patiently waiting for my beta on the 27th.  My HPTs are still coming back negative so I'm a little prepared.

    QOTD:  It's not practical ... but if it was possible ... folding and putting laundry away.

    So sorry @twentyknicks.  I hope you are doing OK.  I'm torn on your question.  On the one hand, you're on the roller coaster so you may as well keep riding it.  Not sure if it's relevant for you.  But from an insurance perspective, I would like to get as much in while I have already hit my deductible for this year.  On the other hand it might be nice to get through the holidays without worrying about drinking, doctor's appointments etc.  And to give yourself some time to heal and regroup.

    Hi Everyone

    I am new to The Bump and discussion boards.  Here is my story!

    DH and I have been TTC for 2 years.  Started infertility testing last year after two BFN cycles of Clomid with the OBGYN.  Found out from the tests that I have low amh and a blocked left tube.  DH swimmers are good.  We scheduled a exploratory lap to see what was causing my left tube to be blocked for May of this year.  Unfortunately, I didn't make it until May.  I was admitted to the hospital on March 1 for an ectopic rupture in my right tube (my only open tube).  I had emergency surgery which my right tube was then closed.  Uncovered that my left tube is absent (never developed). So now I have no tubes and our only option is IVF.

    I started BCPs early September and was on those for 24 days.  I did not respond well.  I was nauseous and emotional most of the time.  I completed my first marathon on September 21 and started Lupron 10u daily on  Sept 25.  I was on Lupron for 14 days before starting stims.  Wow what a roller coaster of emotions with Lupron!  Because my amh is low, I was started on a high dose stim protocol.  Bravelle 225mg + Menopur 75mg in the AM and Bravelle 225mg + Menopur 75mg + Lupron 5u in the PM.  I stimmed for 12 days, triggered on day 13 and had my ER yesterday.  Throughout the whole stim process, I only had 4 follies on the right and 7 follies on the left. Much to my sadness, I stopped running as soon as I started stims :(( . Much to my surprise, they retrieved 17 eggs yesterday!!!!!!  I don't know where they were hiding but wow.  I am now waiting for the team to call me with more details.  I started all of the oral and vaginal drugs now.  I took yesterday and today off work, but back on Friday and Saturday.  Now just trying to deal with the pain and cramping post ER.  Hopefully transfer on Monday.

    A little about DH and I.  DH is 31 and I am 30.  We live in the Chicago western burbs.  We have two cats and one large dog, who is scared of the alpha cat (it is funny!).

    So kind of a silly question but how do you create a siggy - I am so not tech savy!

    Looking forward to connecting with everyone!

    Laura

  • @tweetyknicks - So so sorry. Sending lots of hugs your way!

    @Chicago - FX for you!

    @LAO12 - Welcome! Wow 17 that's great! Also, to update your signature I think if you go to the top right of the screen and click the little outline of the head that says Account Options, there will then be a link on the left on the next page that says something about Update Signature.

    @IfMamaAintHappy - Right here waiting with you! It's tough isn't it? FX y'all get good results!

    AFM - We are currently waiting for our results on how many made it to freeze. Today is day 5 post ER, and I asked the nurse this morning if they would tell us today and she said somebody would tell us tomorrow. So one more day of waiting I guess!!

    QOTD - I wish I could outsource making the bed. I have always hated making the bed when I get up in the morning, but it is so nice to have it all made up when getting into bed.
    Me - 29
    DH - 30, MFI - currently on clomid/vitamins

    TTC #1 since September 2013
    May 2014 - diagnosed with MFI
    July 2014 - HSG - possible blocked left tube
    August 2014 - Hysteroscopy/Laparoscopy -  diverticulum on left tube but appears to be open and functioning
    IVF/ICSI #1 - starting stims 10/3, ER 10/18 - Freeze all due to high E2 & risk of OHSS - 14R/11Fertilized/5Frozen
    FET #1: expected 11/14

  • Hi Acorns!  My OHSS is finally starting to subside and I'm feeling so much better.  It's crazy how quickly it comes on.  I was pretty miserable for two days and then it subsides quickly too.  I'm feeling almost 100% back to normal.  Now, we just wait for the PGD results and AF to show up again.  Based on the PGD results, we will start planning a FET (I hope!).

    QOTD:  I would love to outsource cooking.  At the end of the day, I hate having to cook.

    @tweetyknicks - After my first BFN, we we did an endometerial biopsy and waited 2 weeks for the results while on BC and then jumped right back into another FET.  Personally, I like to keep moving.

  • It is Day 12 of IVF #2. I went for bloodwork and U/S this morning. So my E2 went from 312 to 1033 in 3 days, now I'm thinking I have to be careful of OHSS. I actually have 11 follies going (yay! Last check in in looked like I was just going to have 6), but they are still so small, about 11-14mm.
    My DH has an interview on Monday for a big promotion and all I keep thinking of is that I'm probably heading for a Monday ER! Oh no!!

    QOTD: I would outsource keeping my kitchen spotless. I would love that and it would free up a lot of time!
  • @tweetyknicks I'm really sorry to hear that. (Hugs) I would probably want to try right away also, but maybe taking off a month will help.
    @Chicago I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
    @IfMamaAintHappy I really hope you get some good news at the end of Day 5. Today was Day 6 for me and I got my final results, which were better than I expected. Now I am wishing the stupid doctor never would have said anything to me a few days ago about how all my embryos but one were not growing anymore. I was so upset I called out sick from work! I think it might be better not to know until the end!
    @Callalily30 I'm so glad you are starting to feel better! FX for good PGD results!
    @katemonster1 I really hope you get good news. Keep us posted.

    AFM: Lots of ups and downs here! I've been so upset about what my doctor told me on Tuesday that I was dreading the call from the embryologist today. The doc really made me feel like we might walk away with nothing. The embryologist told me we have 2 grade BB frozen blasts! I was shocked! He said one grew great the whole time and one picked back up. He said the quality was good. I had to look up what BB meant and I saw there should have been a number attached to that, but he didn't give me one. He did say something with the word "expand" but I don't know if he said "expanding" or "expanded" blasts. Either way, I've decided I'm not going to worry about it. I'm just happy to have two embies on ice!

    Thanks so much to everyone who offered me support and kind words last week! I really needed them. I think about you ladies all the time and I'm rooting for all of you.

    <3 Rebecca

  • @lilycakes78 wtf?! That is great news. I thought they told you only one was left, but now you have 2???  I hope I understood that right because that is awesome!!!!  So happy for you.

    My embryo update:  First love and props to DH for not taking no for an answer and insisting that they could tell us something today (day 3).  People do fresh transfers on Day 3 so I know they pay attention at this stage.  The nurse went back to the lab to see if they would tell her anything and lo and behold she came back with good news: both still growing and within the range they should be for day 3. The range is between 5 and 8 cells and one has 5 and the other 6.  I know we are nowhere near out of the woods left, but at least we are still in the game.

  • @tweetyknicks‌ uuuugh :( hugs. Personally I'd try asap if finances and life events health etc agreed with that.

    I had my ET today. We put in two fresh embies. It was a really neat process. The science of it is just so cool to me. Cautiously excited. I think we can all relate there. They gave me pics of the 2 .... There were many more cells than i thought lol. So we have those two and then 6 more that went to freeze. It was a much more comfortable procedure than I'd imagined too. iUIs were more 'painful'. So we are set for beta now 11/1. It's supposed to be 10/31 but that would involve me missing another day of wk. The office was fine with one day later.

    Fx for everyone!

    What's the earliest any of you did an at home and got a BFP?

    Qotd- ooh so many things. Lol. I'd love to have someone that followed me around and picked up after me and kept everything neat and organized. I don't love ironing either. ;)
  • @IfMamaAintHappy
    Yes, the doctor told me on Tuesday that all but one had stopped growing and he wasn't sure we would have anything to freeze. I guess they don't throw them out even if they look like they've stopped growing and it seems one picked back up. I guess it was just growing really slow. I was shocked. When I told the embryologist what the doctor had said to me on Tuesday, he seemed a bit annoyed. I guess it's a moment-by-moment thing and maybe the doc shouldn't have said anything. I sure wish he didn't because I was so upset.

    By the way, that's great news that yours are doing well on Day 3. I will keep my fingers crossed that they stay strong for just a couple more days.

  • @tweetyknicks‌ I'm so sorry. To answer your question, I would probably need an emotional break and wouldn't want to stress over things during the holidays, but the veterans might have more useful input on moving forward. I am gonna ask: are you feeling OK to keep doing the check-in? I don't WANT it, but I know if I were in your shoes, I would be dying to step away for a while and let someone else finish it, so I'm offering to take it if you need.

    AFM: I've now had two monitoring appointments and things seem to be going well, as far as I can feel/tell. I'm going to post my US/labs results, not to AW but in case anyone on a similar protocol finds it helpful.

    Baseline: 10 antral follicles right, 11 left. E2<20 LH=0.3 Prog=0.5
    1st monitor Day 4 of stims: 11 follicles <9mm right, 15 <9mm left, and one at 9mm. E2=191                                                 Lining 5.7mm
    2nd monitor Day 6: Right: 2 - 11mm, 3 - 10mm, 1 - 9mm, 6 are <9mm.
                                 Left: 1 - 13mm, 3 - 11mm, 6 - 10mm, 2 - 9mm, 2 are <9mm.
                                 E2=690   Lining 9.1mm

    I've been on an antagonist protocol, initially with 225u follistim daily (divided in 2 doses, 100u AM 125u PM) and 6u low dose HCG PM.

    Starting today, day 6, I've been upped to 250u follistim daily (divided) and 8u low dose HCG.
    I will also start ganirelix tonight. My next monitoring is in 2 days (will be day 8 for me.)  I am finally starting to feel my ovaries doing something, but I'm not in any discomfort and have been able to go about my normal routine & work.

    Random thing that's bugged me this cycle: both appointments, I've had to use the restroom in the men's "collection room" prior to my US. DH never shares much about his "accomodations" but out of curiosity at the first appointment I peeked int the cabinet to see what was provided. I have to say I am almost feeling compelled to make an anonymous "charitable donation" to all the future men at our clinic. We're not really into porn, but the materials were deplorable - there was a crumpled pile of maybe 4 old beat-up magazines and 2 or 3 DVDs. Eww. I felt bad for DH!

    QOTD: I've already outsourced dishes to DH, but I would love someone to fold and put away laundry and clean my floors! I hate those jobs!

I don't love ironing either. ;)
    YAY for ET. Good luck to you :)

  • @chicory hahaha about the porn. You have explored territories unknown. @sunny B thanks :)))
  • @tweetyknicks  I'm so sorry!  (((hugs)))

  • Happy Friday Acorns.

    @tweetyknicks‌ if your heart is in it if the dr says okay i would fo for it. I've always known when i needed a break and when i needed to just keep on going.

    Today is beta but i tested Tuesday and it was negative so I am preparing for a negative call.

    Our "plan" was one more fresh cycle with pgd and go until we get a positive or run out of frosties but after some thinking I'm not sure i can do it again. We have said it wasnt meant to be we would move to adoption. If that's where we are heading I'm not sure i am okay with the cost of pgd testing. I have great insurance so we may still go ahead and just not do pgd as my Dr doesn't think it's my eggs or the embryos but that it's an implantation problem. It's so much emotionally though and we're just not sure what to do at this point.

    QOTD i am so luck that DH has mild ocd and likes to clean and do laundry. The only thing he won't do is the bathroom so if i could outsource that, i would be one happy girl.
  • @tweetyknicks BIG HUGS to you. Deciding whether to jump right in is such a hard decision. For me, I always wanted to go-go-go because it kept me sane knowing that I had another chance. I've hit walls at various points and needed to take breaks. I think you have to ask yourself, and listen to your body, to decide if you need a little time or if you're ready to jump in. The good news is it's a FET, not fresh cycle, so a little less chaos on your body. Whatever you decide, GOOD LUCK!

    @katemonster1 Hoping everything went well.

    @lilycakes78 BIG HUGS Hope you're doing ok

    @ifmamaainthappy What a great DH!!

    @Chicago Still time. FX!!

    @runforcookies BIG HUGS Sounds like you have a good plan. Good luck!

    @K111K I feel your pain, sister! Thinking of you! I think that I'm having such crappy results this time because of the BCP. I was on them much longer than I think I shoudl have been.

    @SunnyB YEAH!!

    @obizyanka Congrats on the ET. Good luck!

    @chickory sounds like everything is progressing nicely. Good luck!

    About me...This cycle has been really hard, both emotionally and physically. It's been a roller coaster. I'm on the max doses (2 menopur in morning and 450 follistim at night) and I think it's making me a bit crazy. On Wednesday I had 7 measurable, with the biggest at 20. Yesterday the 20 had grown to 25, which means I will probably to lose that one. But a few stragglers started to grow.  My RE decided to forgo the big one and give the littles one another day.  I took  my final dose of follistim last night, final dose of menopur this morning, and I trigger this afternoon. ER will be Sunday morning.

    January 2011 - December 2012: 4 cycles w/Clomid; 9 IUIs w/Follistim & Menopur;  two IVF cycles converted to IUI (poor response/dominant follicle)

    August 2014 IVF (antagonist protocol: Menopur, Follistim, Ganirelix, dexamethasone): 13 eggs, 9 mature, 8 fertilized w/ICSI; 0 frozen, 3 transferred day 5 = BFN

    October 2014 IVF (micro-lupron protocol: mircrolupron, Menopur, Follistim, dexamethasone): 8 eggs, 4 mature, 3 fertilized w/ICSI; 3 transferred day 3 = BFP! Beta 1=121; Beta 2=287; Beta 3 =678. Miscarriage @ 8w2d. :(
  • @saratrying
    Good luck! I'm wishing nothing but the best for you. Sometimes it's quality over quantity... maybe you'll have a few less eggs retrieved, but they will be super eggs that do really well in the lab! I'll be thinking of you on Sunday.

  • ***Loss mentioned*****

    @saratrying - Best of luck on your ER Sunday.  I agree, quality of quantity.  Sending you positive energy to wherever you are!

    @tweetyknicks  - HUGS!!! So sorry to hear about your news.  Not sure if you decided yet on how to proceed.  I found out in March that 1. I was pregnant and 2. I lost the pregnangy + lost all chance of getting pregnant "naturally" I was devistated.  I understand your pain and grief (like many of us here!). Listen to your body, it will tell you how to proceed.  My DH and I chose to wait 6 months before starting the IVF process.  Running is my out and I needed training to deal with my grief and accept my fate.  I am also self pay for all IF stuff so we needed time to save $$ for this IVF cycle. For my DH and I, waiting was the best choice.  I was able to heal mentally and get my body in the best place to go though this process.  Whatever you decide to do, it will be right for you.  Sending you strength and positive energy in coping with this.

  • ER is set for Sunday! I'm so surprised though since most of my follicles are <15mm. I have 2 others, one 18 and 19. I'm nervous that they are only going to be able to use those 2. FX this works out.
  • tweetyknicks I'm so glad you and your H have a plan that brings some comfort, and I hope you get some clarity from your RE soon.  I'm thinking of you.

    AFM, I'm really struggling with the stim meds.  I have had a constant headache (day three of stims) and nausea.  I sort of anticipated feeling not so great, but I really in fact, feel like total crap.  I rarely complain, and feel bad that I am complaining now, but it's just been very, very intense and my body/brain feel very altered, as I suppose they would, during this process. So much respect goes out to those of you who have done multiple cycles and others who are also struggling.

    The good news is that at my check today, my RE said I have 13 follicles about 9/10mm and for day three of stims, he's happy with that.  There are also smaller ones, but he didn't measure them.  He says he's hopeful that some smaller ones will catch up and become contenders as well.  I go back on Monday.

    I'm sorry not to personally respond to everyone today, I'm thinking of you all and sending hugs to everyone who needs them!

  • @tumbleweed123 Sorry you're having a hard time with stims. Hopefully this will be it and you won't have to do it again!

    @tweetyknicks Please take a little time for yourself and be good to YOU!

    @CML11 We're both scheduled for Sunday, so hopefully it's a good day for us! Good luck

    @aliciafiggy Good luck!

    @K1111K I think my AFC was 10 this cycle. Last cycle I did 2 vials menopur in the morning and 300 follistim. My RE told me that was the max, so I never assumed I would go higher. Then this cycle I wasn't responding well at the beginning. My guess is I was over suppressed. To try to salvage the cycle, he jacked up the follistim, initially for one night. But I've been so slow to respond that he kept me at 450. I asked the nurse and she said he goes to 450 only in very rare cases. I think he was willing to try it since I've been on these meds numerous cycles. But I gotta tell you, I have noticed a real difference on this high dose. I'm definitely more emotional and uncomfortable than usual.

  • Hi ladies! Sorry I'm a little late this time, between monitoring appointments , the drives to and from , and work I've been pooped! ER is scheduled for Wednesday (@chicory are we still on the same schedule ?) Had monitoring today 11 follicles on right largest at 16, 5 on left largest at 15 but lots of slow growers on that side hopefully they catch up! Dr called this afternoon to decrease my gonal f dose, it really caught me off guard I didn't have a med change the whole last cycle. I don't really understand the decrease??? Anyway, feeling pretty good overall. QOTD: I'd outsource my house cleaning duties. It seems like it's a never ending chore which is ALL mine :-(
  • @fayth4one‌ maybe! After today's appointment, they told me it would be either Tuesday or Wednesday. I have another monitoring appt tomorrow so I expect to learn more after that. GL!!
