DH and I went and picked up some girl clothes this morning...I told him I wanted to just buy her one outfit and he ended up all over the place picking things out, LOL! It was so cute watching him get all excited over clothes. Then we went grocery shopping and came home and made some lunch...it's been a nice morning. Now I'm procrastinating because I'm supposed to be doing homework, blech.
Question for those of you who are STM+...how long was your LO in newborn clothes? I've been buying mostly short-sleeved 0-3 months since the weather warms up here towards the end of April, but I bought a couple of newborn sleepers and then second-guessed myself. I have had several people tell me their newborns went straight into 0-3 months and never even wore newborn clothes but 0-3 months seems so much bigger!
@meowkitten it really depends on the baby and the size. My preemie was 5lbs 4oz and was in NB forever. One of his BFFs was 10lb14oz, and was barely in 0-3 let alone NB. It is so hard to say.
My BFF posted something on LJ (which we haven't regularly used in over 5 years) and I wanted to respond with the gilttery spank gif, but I couldn't find it. I could see it in my dream, but my dream self could not locate the URL. So yeah, that happened.
Also, 22 weeks 2 da! Hard to believe I am only 2 weeks away from V-day. Which is 3 days after my B-day. Woo!
@meowkitten FTM here, but I'm waiting til closer to the end when we have an estimate of weight before I buy more than one of two newborn sizes. I also ordered several swaddlers that I think kiddo will hang out in mostly the first couple of months, probably with just a diaper underneath since it will be decently warm in March here.
@jnowosielski Yay for a baby girl! I love the idea of the matching game!
@JennyP0222 Thinking about you! I have every hope it will be no big deal.
Just got back from a baby shower. Totally my kind if party. No games, just chatting and delicious pastries. BUT, someone mentioned another shower for when the mom has a second baby someday. I cringed so hard! No!
Also, ditto to the Chicago in my head now. "Walking through the park and reminiscing."
@saltyfins I used to have sleep paralysis almost nightly and I was unfamiliar with it so I thought that my house was haunted lol. It is absolutely terrifying! Now my problem is horrifying dreams, last night a man grabbed me and drugged me with something that made it so I couldn't move or scream and he was terrorizing me telling me he was watching me die. All I could think of in my dream was that my baby was going to die. It was awful
I am a jerk today. My body wasn't ready to be awake, and is retaliating by making me grumpy as hell. I feel bad for my DH as he's getting the worst of it. (I did apologize to him)
Also, I have a baby shower that I really don't want to go to, because I am not super fond of the Mama to be (We used to be close, until she went crazy on me, multiple times. Now she stays at arms length because I don't trust her) but I'm going because I have other friends who will be there that I DO want to see. I am genuinely happy for her, though, I just don't want to be besties with her anymore.
Hello! Awesome Saturday here so far except I woke up at 7am. On a Saturday. Boo. We went to the running trails and I walked for 40 min-first exercise I've done in forever and it felt so good! R ran of course. We went to BJ's because I haven't been in months so we've been out of everything. Had some yummy subway and now I'm drilling over date night. We are going to a new steak house!! Yurmmm. Until then I need to be productive but I just wanna lay on the couch!!
Felt my first official kicks last night from baby girl. It was amazing! I could feel them so differently from the flutters and little movements before. I could even feel them with my hand on my belly. I had R feel but he said he couldn't tell. Such a stick in the mud, says he doesn't know why I am dying for him to feel her now, that there will be plenty of times down the road that we will be sure that's what it is. He just doesn't get it but that's ok. He is constantly talking about her so I can let that slide. It's so cute to hear him talk about our daughter!!
@FrecklesInside sorry you've been in so much pain but hoping the massage helps. I've been hearing a lot of you mamas talk about prenatal massage. I keep meaning to ask my OB but keep forgetting. For some reason I had heard way long ago that they weren't really good for pregnant women but that was way long ago so obviously not probably true anymore. I could use one for sure.
@MrsLaurenandDan what a sweet story and love the romper! So glad the other mom offered it to you
@suzyq0525 was it you that said your OB office wanted you to use Brachs jelly beans for your GTT? I totally saw some today at BJ's and HAD to buy them. Made me think of you!!
Aw alert: here's a pic of my new fur baby, his name is Maximus Decimus and he's 8 weeks old and newly flea free! I'm so in love with him, he's got beautiful coloring, uses his litterbox religiously, is a huge cuddle bug, and just so tiny and adorable! I'm so glad I adopted him! My H's cousin now has nine cats, Max was one of five in a litter of all males so we adopted him and he's happy in his new home. I didn't realize how much joy a pet could bring to me;)
So I'm still debating on Doing an Elective Ultrasound for my Husbands Birthday. It will be $95 or we can Simply wait Another Week for our A/S. This is our first baby so part if me says to just splurge and do it. Then I think I could buy a lot for $95. So what do y'all think? Is an Elective Ultrasound to find out the sex worth the money. Also He said Bye to the Baby this morning before he left for work.. Awe made my Heart Smile.

I paid for an elective us and I really enjoyed it. My h and I were led to a large room with comfy couches and several big screens to see everything. I liked it because it was just for sex so there wasn't any anxiety about hearing any bad news and since you are paying for a service they really cater to you. However, I only went for sex because they don't recommend them before 28 weeks if you are expecting 3d pics that look good, I saw my daughter on 3d at 17 or 18 weeks and she looked kind of weird because they have no body fat yet. So, if you are going to get pics I would wait but if you just want to find out the sex in a private, no stress atmosphere with your H then I say go for it! Hope this helps
Thanks so much. That would be great if they have big screens to see.I also have not had an Ultrasound since 7 weeks and I really couldn't see anything then. But when the tech tried to show me my Boobs were in the way and I really couldn't make it out. I think I'm just going to go ahead and do it.
I have been hardcore MIA around here, and just wanted to pop in and say that I'm back... here's what chaos kept me away:
*Emergency extraction on a molar due to a dead nerve and subsequent hardcore oral infection *Extraction was crazy difficult and took nearly 3 hours *Excruciating weekend before extraction and week afterwards *husband left, came back for a week, left for a week, is currently back for two days, then will be gone until Thanksgiving via new job *Mom fell and broke her foot in five places, tore ligament from bone, and bruised from toes to kneecap ironically trying to help me deliver newspapers to make sure *I* didn't fall in the rain *A/S showed we are officially expecting a BOY Eli Matthew, coming soon! *A/S also showed both EIF and a SUA, had to go to a hospital an hour from home to get a second ultrasound with a specialist, spent week totally freaking out and without DH home *Took mom to us with specialist as DH was still away, little Eli is looking healthy, nothing to be concerned about, thank God *Repeated issues with dizziness and blurry vision have me on modified bedrest, not allowed to do my job by myself, or to drive much, and I have an appointment with cardiology this week
So things have been a little bit TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY insane around here. I am mostly staying positive... Baby is healthy, that's the only thing that matters. I must admit, the chaos is getting to me though...

Omg I can imagine you must be stressed with all of that going on! I'm sorry to hear of so many negative circumstances all at once. It's true what they say, when it rains it pours
So i saw while lurking on another board that someone named their baby GIRL James... had to re read it like 4 times to make sure she actually did say girl, that one threw me a bit.
March 15' January Siggy Callenge: Animals Being Jerks
Team peen!
Here's his little skeleton face with his hand under his chin.
I knew it! (Well, I had a hunch) everything looks good? I'm so happy for you.
She wouldn't say anything. Not even an "ok, looks good!"
I have to go back in 2 weeks for another check of the heart, she couldn't get a good view.
Ugh. And what's with these babies being uncooperative and not letting us see their hearts? I go back in two weeks to check Sam's too. Do you have any name ideas yet?

I had sushi today. It was amazing. And then H and I adulted the rest of the day...mowed the lawn and we stacked wood, and cleaned the house. Yay for a relaxing day of football tomorrow! Plus I get cake because my Dad's birthday was Friday, so Mom made cake. Nomnomnom
@mommyofkaylin I hope your little bub feels better soon/quick recovery. I like Leigh a lot!
@LBeez13 We finally got to see the first episode of season 5, and dang, so good!! I love that show.
@finallyourturn2 Sorry you're stuck being bored. Hope the time passes quickly and safely for you.
@MissyCee The festival sounds fun! I hope you have a stellar weekend to balance out the stress. Definitely try for some dow/relax time.
@RQuinlin Yay to feeling a bit better! But I hope her fever goes down and she gets back to normal soon.
@AGM0616 So happy you have your anatomy scan soon. Those are fun! Are you planning to find out the sex? Try to relax and take in all the Dr Who you want this weekend.
@chaysefaith How was the market? Love farmers markets!! Congrats on your boy. I didn't get told anything at the scan either (other than the sex). The tech kept saying she couldn't tell me anything and that the ob would give me all the information. It was SO frustrating. Will your ob be providing you the info on how it went?
@lib1974 Sounds like a crappy wake up call. But hopefully the rest of your day has gone better. (I am so not a morning person, but a new roof seems worth it )
@luckystarz Have fun at the gala. That sounds like it would be great fun!
@cinderella105 Taco bell sounds delicious. Not sure when I'll have it again, but I definitely have been wanting to check out their breakfast selections.
@JennyP0222 I'm so sorry you're going through that. Lots of thoughts and prayers for a healthy next check up!!! Try not to stress too much in the meantime. Google is not always your friend.
@luvsponies Hope everything resolves and that you guys are happy by tonight. Being busy is definitely stressful. Hopefully your H is being awesome to relieve some of your stress, post-argument. I've had a shorter fuse lately too, and feel bad when I have a bad moment. It's definitely not worth the work of a fight, but I do pick one, sometimes.
@jack12trip I hope you manage to avoid morning sickness going forward and that was just a one time thing.
@MrsLaurenandDan That is a beautiful romper with a great meaning behind it! You found something perfect for your first purchase.
@FrecklesInside How was your massage?Hope you had a great massage therapist! And, yay! to a sleep orgasm. That's a great start to the day. Massage Heights has a good program, too, for a monthly massage. I was on that and it's pretty amazing. They do very well at the prenatal. (And your first visit ever is really cheap, too, to try them out)
@thejucheidea That sounds like an amazing trip! We haven't decided on our Christmas/New Years plans yet, but Europe is high on the list. You really know your stuff to go by that many modes of transport. How many times have you guys been?
@Chunkymonkeylvr Sorry you didn't sleep well. It's great that your hubby still wants to cuddle all the time. Maybe you could cuddle for 10 mins then separate spaces?
@WAMOM Definitely sounds like it'll be a busy weekend, but painting can be fun. Is your H helping? And I totally lol ' d at your dream.
@saltyfins That's pretty scary. Have you ever had that before? I don't know much about sleep paralysis (like what can cause it), but that definitely would put me on edge to fall asleep. Lots of T&Ps that was the last time it happens!
@meowkitten I loved clothes shopping for the new little one, but bought way too much, and probably things she'll never wear. I only bought a few NB items because I heard the same thing. Figured I could buy more once she was born if she's tiny. But since I'm planning to CD, I wanted to go up a size anyway. So I bought many 0-3 months items. Where have you been buying clothes from?
@CoozieInMyPurse I didn't even think about using swaddlers with just a diaper. I bought some sleepers to wear in the swaddle, but swaddle with diaper might be easier.
@jcar2 I hope you manage to get more sleep.tonight! Jet lag combined with an inability to sleep well is leading me to live off of naps lately.
@starfishlovesyou Did you have a good time at the baby shower? Hopefully you had a great time catching up with the friends you're close with.
@healthyfor2 Yay to walking! I have some prenatal dvd's I'm hoping made it through customs so I can get back to exercise. We also have elliptical I'd like to use, but I tend to overdo it on those. It's been months since I was exercising. I was SO good, in the beginning, too.
@kellbell1982 He's an absolutely adorable little kitten! I have two cats (both adopted from shelters) and love them to pieces. One is staying with my parents and the other came overseas with me. They really do an amazing job at lightening life!
@22roses The waiting is hard for the A/S. But a week isn't that far away. So if it's just to find out sex, you might be better off to anticipate. But if it's to surprise your hubby early, for his bday, that would be a really great surprise! So if you can spare the money, I'd say to go for it as a bday surprise.
@stellarsoundz Welcome back. It sounds like some seriously tough times. I hope your mom is on the mend. Congrats on the boy and so glad he's healthy! Keep resting well, and try not to let this overwhelm you.
@earthian That's an amazing deal! ! I discovered garage sales recently for baby clothes. Can't beat 25 cents for a cute outfit. Sad I spent so much prior to that, lol.
@createmagic14 Yum, cake!! And great job on the adult activities. I have a tough time getting chores done.
That was a fun way to work on my insomnia! It's 1 am here and I need to wake up by 6am. Still not tired.
So, randoms!
I arrived in Doha two nights ago. Still suffering jet lag pretty bad, but have been sleeping it off with naps to get on the new schedule.
I nearly missed my connecting flight in Amsterdam since my phone 'updated' to the wrong time and was an hour off. Heard my name called and had to sprint an entire terminal in Amsterdam (and all the way to the very end) which was NOT fun. Got there and the lady said the door was shut, but she would walk me in. I got on the plane at the same time it was supposed to be taking off. Yeah, I was 'that guy' and I'm sure the other passengers were happy they waited on me ...
Puppy got there safely, but got sick in her cage a couple times, so I felt really bad for her. When I landed in Doha, I had to wait ages in the lounge and it turns out that they couldn't find my dog ... she wasn't exactly in a small cage!
I have toured the city yesterday and today. They have a mall here that looks just like the Venetian hotel inside. They have SO many American restaurants and fast food places (I've seen at least 5 KFCs). I'm most excited about the number of good indian restaurants! Yum!!
And just in case you were wondering about my priorities on the flight ... yep, my snoogle folds down into a nice ball!
@DragonflyDreaming I'm glad you made it! That hotel looks amazing. We bought some stuff today from The Children's Place, we don't have a ton of kid's clothing stores in town here so at some point we will have to head up to Chattanooga and do some heavy-duty shopping
Thanks for the advice on sizes everyone, I think I'm going to stick to 0-3 months. We are CDing and I didn't even think about that but she will probably be better off in 0-3 months anyways!
My random- I managed to fall head cold sick today and when I got home tonight my neighbors are having a get together. They don't do this often and I hardly ever see anyone but the kids playing outside. This particular get together wouldn't be a problem except......I'm listening to loud chanting throughout my house in the form of "lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala". It is never ending African calls from the parents inside and the kids are running around outside in the dark. I think I'm losing it. I have to be in another dimension. Like.... I'm dreaming right? Is this real life?

July Siggy Challenge. Summer Fail. March 2015 Group
The u/s tech said my doctor will get the results by Tuesday at the latest. I'm hoping she'll call me either way but I'm also going to take the "no news is good news" approach.
I'm glad you made it safely! Was that the mall in your pic? It's gorgeous!
@DragonflyDreaming, this is only our second time in Sweden, but we're planning to go every year now! I've done a ton of European vacations and lived in Berlin, Germany, but our honeymoon to Sweden, Norway and Iceland in February was my husband's first time out of the country. He mostly just shows up for the trip, lol. He definitely loves it but is completely in the dark about travel logistics.

Insomnia is a great motivator, I find. Plus I missed this board and all you guys!
I got impatient and called my ob the next day. Since the tech kept saying that she couldn't tell me anything, i kept thinking that something must be wrong, lol! The ob had actually looked at the pics and said everything looked good. Sorry you're having such a stubborn baby. Mine wouldn't move for one of the shots needed and she had me go to the bathroom. While in there, I did a yoga downward dog style move and when I got back, she had actually moved quite a bit, lol!
That was the mall! It also had an ice skating rink, a small carnival (with ferris wheel), bowling alley, IMAX cinema (although movies are majorly edited, here), laser tag, and go karts. Amongst hundreds of stores and restaurants. I guess people don't do much outside here, so they really do the indoors well!
I know a lot of you ladies have had experience with dementia with a loved one. How do you stay motivated to visit them? My grandma remembers who i am but has definitely worsened since i last saw her. She kept asking what dd's name is, when I'll have another baby and if it's a boy or girl. Multiple times while we there. Like every 5 minutes. I know that dementia will never get better but i didn't know it had gotten that bad already. It is sad to watch her this way. How do you do it?
I dunno, I just sort of power through it and then talk it out with my husband later.
@thejucheidea YES! Exactly! I think that my husband thinks planning a vacation is just pointing and clicking on a computer for 5 mins and done. So NOT the case. He enjoys certain aspects of travel, but he's not really a fan of just travelling to travel (although he does have fun once there). Iceland would have been awesome! I actually really would love to make it to Finland to stay in the glass igloos, see the aurora boreolis, and even spend a night in the ice hotel. I've definitely got a very large bucket list.
@meowkitten@RQuinlin@Chunkymonkeylvr@Skrittens Thanks! It's so good to finally be here. (it's been a LONG journey)

@DragonflyDreaming sounds like an adventure already. Poor pup but at least they arrived safely. And weird ....that mall DOES look just like the Venetian.

I don't know much about it. My grandma had Alzheimers, but i was in college in another country and didn't get to see her. I'm sending you tons of hugs and positive thoughts. I hope that you are able to cope. I couldn't and wish I'd been able to see mine.

---- Quote fail ----
Oh my goodness! Will you take pics/post a couple? You're not staying the night? I am so curious how it is!!
@JennyP0222 Thanks! And it seriously is a HUGE mimic in design. I think that a Quatari must have seen it, then copied it, lol! They love italy here, a lot. And actually there's an entire section of town, called the Pearl, on reclaimed land, that looks like italy. Apparently the buildings there can have color since they are on reclaimed land. They were all so bright. Very different than the white and beige of the rest of the city (other than skyscrapers)

That sounds heartbreaking. I have not been in this particular situation. I think if I was that I would motivate myself with the potential feelings of guilt of not spending enough time with her. If/when she is completely gone I think I would kick myself and it would hit me hard if I had avoided spending time with her. It would be incredibly sad to watch though, hugs.
@DragonflyDreaming, we're staying in Kiruna proper at Icehotel is in Jukkasjärvi, which is a tiny village on the other side of the river from Kiruna. We're going to go on a tour of the hotel though and will take a ton of pics!
Re: Saturday in the park (random)
@JennyP0222 Sorry you are playing the waiting game
@jnowosielski Welcome to Team Pink!
@happymamax2 Congratulations! I have a new nephew that was born three weeks ago, sadly I won't get to see him until Thanksgiving.
@MrsLaurenandDan That is absolutely beautiful
DH and I went and picked up some girl clothes this morning...I told him I wanted to just buy her one outfit and he ended up all over the place picking things out, LOL! @chaysefaith Yay for A/S! Can't wait to hear!
@happymamax2 Congrats on the new nephew!
@FrecklesInside A massage sounds so lovely. Jealous!
@JennyP0222 Thinking about you! I have every hope it will be no big deal.

@chilibeansm0m I hope today is better. Hugs. I thought of you when I bought some pumpkin bread mix today!!! Yuuuummmmm.
@JennyP0222 hugs lady. FX it's nothing and the MFM will put you at ease. But I agree no more google!!
@luvsponies sorry about your fight but glad things are ok.

@happymamax2 Congrats on your new baby nephew!
@chilibeansm0m I hope you have a really great weekend that turns your mood around.
@jnowosielski That is a great idea for a reveal.
(I am so not a morning person, but a new roof seems worth it
@knitnut What gaming session?
@ruemorgan Have fun out and about today!
Thanks for the advice on sizes everyone, I think I'm going to stick to 0-3 months. We are CDing and I didn't even think about that but she will probably be better off in 0-3 months anyways!

The u/s tech said my doctor will get the results by Tuesday at the latest. I'm hoping she'll call me either way but I'm also going to take the "no news is good news" approach.
I'm glad you made it safely! Was that the mall in your pic? It's gorgeous!
