@dragonflydreaming yay! Glad you've arrived safely and are working on settling in. Also, awesome tagging skills. I have friends who live in Kuwait and they spend a huge amount of their time indoors due to the weather. It's fascinating how people live differently everywhere. I'm spoiled here in California.
We have a group of 4 for Dungeons and Dragons every other Friday. We are trying out the newest edition release which is called D&D Next. Sometimes we play board games when we're sick of the campaign.
Yeah, it's a little bit of a culture change, but the temps aren't too bad at the moment.
I'm not a huge D&d fan, but I have played. I imagine it's good fun with the right group of people.
I just met some new people today that like boardgames! So excited. We'll see if they like 'real' ones though. My H told them I have 6 bins of games (probably over 150 games) coming on our shipment. And they seen keen to try them.
@DragonflyDreaming Glad you made it safely! Good luck getting on local time.
Re: swaddlers and a diaper. I bet my mom will argue that baby needs another layer, but I think it come down to whether it's a warm March or a chilly March here. So we will see.
Random tonight - watching LSU play Ole Miss tonight. This game is nerve wracking!
I know a lot of you ladies have had experience with dementia with a loved one. How do you stay motivated to visit them? My grandma remembers who i am but has definitely worsened since i last saw her. She kept asking what dd's name is, when I'll have another baby and if it's a boy or girl. Multiple times while we there. Like every 5 minutes. I know that dementia will never get better but i didn't know it had gotten that bad already. It is sad to watch her this way. How do you do it?
Honestly it's not easy but sometimes they have moments where they are themselves. You can also remind yourself that you are keeping them company even if they don't know what is going on.
Eta my great grandmother had a nurse she thought was me and that made her happy. You never know what kind of impact your visits will have but I promise it's worth it.
@chilibeansm0m - I know that is so tough. I just would tell my grandmother I loved her and let her talk about whatever she wanted.
My 8 yo niece just told me I am too far behind on buying stuff for the baby. I only have 2 outfits and a cosleeper. She thinks I'll never get it done in time and I'll probably forget things - so she needs to come and help me. She also said she will teach me how to bathe the baby and change it so it doesn't pee in my face. So cute. I wish she could just come and live with me!!!
@DragonflyDreaming I did wind up having more fun than I was expecting to. I hung out with some good friends(one of whom is also pregnant and is due in 9 days), had cake and pizza, and was generally happier than I thought I'd be. The only "bleh" moment I had was when Mama to be wanted a pic of me, her, and the other pregnant lady there. It was bitchy of me, but I was feeling like, "Uuuuggghhh, I don't want to be in your pictures." No real reason. Just generally a crappy attitude toward her. I posed for it anyway, though, 'cuz I knew I was being dumb.
@suzyq0525 was it you that said your OB office wanted you to use Brachs jelly beans for your GTT? I totally saw some today at BJ's and HAD to buy them. Made me think of you!!
Yes it was me! I need to get more for December when they test me again.
@DragonflyDreaming glad to see you made it there safe, I hope you guys have a great time while there! Sorry to hear your pup got sick, hopefully he's all happy and better now he's back with you!
We're puppy sitting our neighbor's dog and it really makes me want another one! Having two is great, they entertain each other but they also instigate together and get into things together!
We went and visited our new town today to see the whole area and we both love it! Can't wait to get moved in and start setting up the nursery!

Did you find them the first time? I almost opened them before bed but I'm saving for tomorrow...
I'm super proud of myself today. I finally bought a set of drawers to go under the desk we use as a changing table. I filled it with crib sheets, towels and extra blankets. I am now working on moving our extra stuff out of the closet to put the dresser in there. I measured and it will be a tight fit but it may work. So I'm going to try. I figure I'm going to set up the room now and make room for dd's toddler bed to see how i can make it work with 2 kids.
No matter what happens i am most likely still going to need to make it work with them sharing a room. Now that i am starting to see it coming together I'm getting excited.
How many blankets and sheets do you recommend having? I was overwhelmed working on my registry!
@suzyq0525 we have a ton of the basic newborn blankies like the ones the hospital gives you. We used them to swaddle dd and i used them as covers when bf. They are so handy.
Then i have thicker blankets that although I'm not comfortable with dd using yet i will let her soon. Just the basic fleece ones. I had all of them before having dd! I like blankets...
As far as crib sheets we have about 4. I am in love with the kind that zip. They are such a snap to change the sheets real quick. They were handed down to me from someone who swore by them. I had never heard of them before and thought is that really necessary? Necessary? Nah. Nice? Yes!
I'll have to look in to sheets like that. Didn't know they were a thing!
