The pacifier talk made me think of this. DD has never taken a pacifier, but pretty much since day one, she has sucked two middle fingers. She does this when she sleeps and any time she's in a new/scary situation. The dentist said I need to start breaking her of the habit. I have no idea how to convey to a 2-year-old that she should stop sucking her fingers to protect her smile. This almost makes me wish she had been a pacifier kid instead.

I have always been grateful mine loved packs rather than fingers; easier to take away. I would do what we do with Maya's finger in her nose (I know, SO ladylike) and just keep removing the finger each time you see it. Nighttime is harder for that though.

DD1 is a total paci kid. When we moved her to a bed we made a paci in bed only rule (didn't want to get rid of it right before the baby). We will be ditching them all together before the New Year. I would (and have) paid lots of money to get DD2 to take one consistently. DH was a thumb sucker until he was 12, I don't want to deal with that with my girls.

I found out something really disturbing about H yesterday. I want to talk to you guys about it and get different input but I think legally I'm better off keeping my mouth shut for now.. i hate even vagubooking about it but I need an outlet. I'm a whirlwind of emotions and struggling to keep myself together.

Aedan never took a pacifier too. Early on he sucked his thumb and DH would just pull it out of his mouth every time he saw it. I always thought it was kind of cute, but now I'm glad it didn't stick.
My brother sucked his thumb forever. My parents eventually resorted to the bitter type stuff you can put on their thumb to make it taste bad. I don't know that I would go that far at 2, but I think he was 8.
Maybe just try to stop her when she does it? Our big kid chews on his shirt from time to time (usually in a situation when he's anxious) and we just keep pulling it out of his mouth. We haven't completely broken him of the habit, so it's not a perfect solution.
I'm in the afraid to take the paci away. My mom keeps telling me I stopped napping after she took mine away at 2.5. G has sttn since 7mo. And naps almost 3 hours every day. I can't imagine her stopping sleep but I'm terrified. She only has it for nap/bed/some car rides.
I totally can't pull the trigger on an $800 dish washer. I don't know. I don't want to be cheap but I don't think it's necessity. I've lived without it for almost 3 years. I don't know. I do want one before the baby gets here.

Hugs, Holly. Hang in there! I think you're right that if it could have legal implications, it's probably best not to discuss. I hope it's nothing that will negatively impact the boys.
And to make today so much better, some fucker apparently has a copy of my debit card and has spent $400 plus in just a few hours. Damnit people get your own fucking money!

I *lived* without a dishwasher for a year, but I also complained about how having a dishwasher...for a year. For us it was definitely a necessity, and a time saver!
Have you price matched at all?? Would you feel better about spending the money if you considered it an early Christmas gift to yourself/the house maybe?

I complain about dishes every day. I hate them. I feel guilty spending the money on it like it's a luxury for me. I also hate considering it a gift for me since it's for the house. MIL keeps asking me what I want for my birthday and they spend about $300 on my gift since it's my one and only for the year. No christmas gift. My husband won't care if that's what I want.
Bosch has good reviews. Only sold at lowes. Home depot doesn't have them and most on home depot all have mixed reviews. So I'm really at s loss. I am not good at researching and purchasing. I feel like i am making the wrong decision.

our dishwasher went about 18 months ago. We went cheap when we replaced it and I've regretted it ever since. It leaks all over the floor when I run it, the linoleum is separating from the floor underneath it and the sub floor is getting wet. It's going to be such a mess.

Big Hugs lady! I'm sorry you are having to deal with so much. I would definitely not say anything if you think there may be legal implications. But I think you know you could message any of us and we would gladly be here for you!
Best Buy has Bosch. We bought ours at another appliance store because they were having a sale plus free installation. Best Buy would match the sale price but not the free install, or something like that, so we went with the smaller appliance store.
@redneckmomma25 if you do end up going through a big box store, you should check out carpool or any other gift card site first. You can buy gift cards for a percentage off, which might make pulling the trigger a little easier, especially if you can get one on sale already. I didn't check best buy, but right now they're selling Lowe's cards at 6% off, which isn't a ton, but, it'd make an $800 dishwasher $752.

And Lowe's is doing 10% off of appliances right now!
@redneckmomma25, I'd get the dishwasher. I don't think you'll regret it in the long run. Also, I wouldn't consider it a gift. It's a household item, not something just for you.

I'll have to see if we have any small appliance stores....

If you want to wait until Black Friday, I bought gift cards on sale from Office Max - I got ON and Visa but they had a lot of options. Literally free money. Sam's does discounts on gift cards too sometimes.
I think you can get gift cards at pawn shops. Kind of sketchy, but we have done it for a large purchase. Get a $100 gift card for $75. Get a few and it saves you a few hundred!
My IL'S are giving me $300 towards it for my birthday and I made about $250 this weekend so I covered most of it. I'm just going to pull the trigger. Thanks for the help!
Hugs @Holly_1007. We are here for you. And your decision is probably wise to not put anything out there publicly, but you can always PM me if you need to talk. You are doing a great job in such a hard time.
@MrsKipper Wow! At sounds like a lot of extra work. You sound like you have a great attitude in dealing with it. I commend you!!
@redneckmomma25 Glad you are getting one. Yup will be so happy when you are filling it up with all of the dishes you don't have to wash!!
@Holly_1007 Hugs to you for all that you're dealing with. I'm here if you ever need to chat! I hope you start feeling better soon! Having so much going on is hard enough and being sick too just isn't right! I'll be thinking about you!
