  • Loading the player...
  • That sounds like a cute idea! But I agree with beer and football and not a "typical" shower where everyone sits around and plays games and watches the mom to be open presents

  • No, you can't host a shower for him since you would benefit just as much as he would.  Now, if someone from his side of the family wanted to host a shower for this baby, that would be fine.

No. You canNOT throw a shower for yourself or your spouse or for ANY child that will be living in your house. If you want to celebrate your H with your 2 existing children, then go for it. Take him out to dinner. Throw a little party. But. Keep it to JUST the 4 of you. Don't invite people. It's gross and tacky. (To be clear - if one of HIS friends wants to throw it, then fine. But YOU should not throw it. Nor should you ask anyone to. Nor should you indicate in ANY way what types of gifts people should bring.)

Yes. This. I should have been more clear.
If you want to celebrate somehow, that would be fine. But, no gifts.

  • Okay.. so many things wrong with this question..

    1. A "baby shower" is for a FIRST TIME mother-to-be.
    2. It is ABSOLUTELY "tacky tacky" (as you put it) to throw your own, as you will benefit from it just as much as he does.
    3. Isn't he already a dad to your 2 older kids? Just because he's not biologically their father doesn't mean he's not a dad.
    4. This would only be acceptable if it was SOMEONE ELSE'S idea.

Go to dinner with the fam and celebrate that way. Otherwise, why even ask?
  • Do guys even care about showers?  I feel like every guy I know would want to avoid anything associated with a shower (bridal, baby, or other)
I was going to list that as one of my reasons, but I thought it might sound too stereotypical.
  • My husband has been to two showers and said " Never again."
  • Lol my husband just mentioned a daddy shower yesterday as a joke and said that if he were to plan it, it would include beer, pizza, and hockey. It was funny but no, you shouldn't throw him a party. One of his friends could if they are so inclined but isn't he a daddy now to your other girls? I don't really understand.
  • @kcbizme  I could be wrong, but I feel like the Baby Shower board generally says it's okay for the family/friends of a first time father to have a shower for him, even if his wife has children from a previous relationship.

Obviously, that doesn't mean what OP is proposing is appropriate...
  • It's totally okay if his friends want to have a shower for him. Let's get this straight. Totally fine.

But the OP doing it for him screams ulterior motives. Nothing SHE wants would be included on the registry? Doubt it. If I got an invite from the mother to be for a shower for the husband Id be like wtf? No. Gift grabby.
  • Uhm, why can't she plan a baby shower for her husband?  It's not like she's planning it for herself.  You are all rude and should be ashamed of yourselves.

Except all of the gifts received would also belong to her. So yeah it would be for herself as well. And no I don't feel ashamed of myself knowing Id never do something that tacky.

What's wrong with being tacky?  I say the more saddles and bridles the better.

Right? Never forget the hoof polish. That stuff goes rock bottom after Xmas.

Is there a book I can read this in? I like to get presents, it's not a secret, why should I have to pretend I don't? Please show me where I can read about this. Thank you! I love to hear from experts!

I like the Halloween black. Dark and misunderstood, like my soul.

  • I think throwing a party for the new dad-to-be is a sweet idea... I just definitely wouldn't market it as a baby shower.

Excuse me, but I am not a pony, I am a full grown Majestic Unicorn. I demand respect.

Hey look! The My Little Pony crew has finally decided to grace us with their presence! They've been all over TB since the mayhem/chaos started, but they hadn't come to play with the Haggard Glitter Trolls yet. I was kind of feeling left out. Too bad they've lost some of their funny along the way.

No.  I am too misunderstood and dark to be ridden.
