Pet behavior

We have had a dog since about a month before my daughter was born. He was a stray that showed up at my husbands work and has always been my husbands dog. He doesn't really spend much time with me.

Well, right before I found out I am pregnant the dog started sitting on me on the couch whenever I sit down. It is cracking me up. Anyone else's pets acting differently?

  • Every board I've been on there have been referrals back to other threads but usually not back more than two weeks.. Mobile doesn't search well but thanks anyway..

  • Yes, my pup is attached at my hip all the time. She was my shadow before now she's stuck like glue
  • @jbatch, I was just trying to be helpful since it's already been discussed. Others have expressed frustration at repeat posts and that they're just skipping over them.  I don't really think I deserved the response you gave.  There is another one here as well that was from this week that has more responses.  I know searching on mobile doesn't work well... I remembered seeing previous posts about it so I'm just trying to help a girl out.

I actually find these posts really interesting because my dog hasn't acted unusual other than being happier to see me but honestly I think she just forgets I'm in the room sometimes and then gets re-excited.

I'm sorry if i took it differently than you meant it. I honestly just get bored of the symptom posts and thought it was something slightly different but I guess I missed the one earlier this week.

  • My six pound poodle now sleeps on my stomach. She's also started to ignore my husband and give me more attention.

Thought I'd bump this one up now that we're all a bit further along.

My Boston Terrier (usually a Daddy's boy that thinks Mom is really annoying) has been glued to me, very patient, wants to be held a lot and just pretty dang sweet. This really picked up about three weeks ago. I'm kinda loving it. I'm never the preferred biped.

ETA...and I guess I bumped the unpopular furbaby post. Haha, sorry!

  • Ahhhh another BT Mom! I guess I should have noticed your icon. I never stopped and really took a look at it. Aren't they THE SHIT? I love how their personalities are all similar/they all do similar weird things like bungle under covers, rub their backs on carpeting and snort. I don't think I could ever get a different breed. Someone else has one too. Is it you, @JimBobCooter?

  • Both Max and Daisy insist on sleeping on our bed with us these days - Max shares my pillow and Daisy tries to sleep on my abdomen. Normally they have been floor or foot of the bed sleepers - it's pretty strange.
  • One of my Sugar Gliders has been grooming the ever loving crap out of my arms since we found out. He's never been a biter either but now he's a sassy Lil thing. The other Glider who was bitey has stopped and is much more sweet. Total role reversal.
  • My kitties love laying on my belly now lol. Whenever they come cuddle, they HAVE to be on my belly.

  • My husky is always following me. I've noticed when DH aggravates me (putting cold hands/tickling), my dog runs to where we are and starts barking. He has never been a barker before!

My frenchie is super excited about all of the couch time I've been putting in lately.

Edit: not sure why Charlie's sideways.. Mobile bumping sucks.
  • I will never, ever get sick of talking about my dog!!! She is very attached to me since I work from home so we spend all day together anyway but she's extra snuggly and adorable and follows me everywhere I go! God, I love her so much, I don't think it's possible for me to love my kids as much I love her. I probably kiss her about 500 times a day.

I agree with everything you said. I had baby fever 2 years ago, so we adopted my frenchie. I even gave her my most loved baby name. Now, I love her so much and am going to feel so bad when the baby takes away some her time.
  • Haha my dog is the exact same way
  • @rvasq‌ I known!!! I've already been
Apologizing to her and telling her that she will never be replaced and will always ride shotgun.
  • My little Brussels griffon stares at me on the couch. He won't come near me, just stares. It's like he's trying to communicate with the baby by just using his brain waves. That's what I'm going with...and not that he's a creeper dog right now.

  • My jerk bichon is still the same...a jerk. Not worried about him with the baby a bit because he likes his alone time and is not protective of me at all. He has been a SMIDGE more tolerable of me making him snuggle though..ha!
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • Nothing too different about my Akita husky mix, but I am super worried about introducing the baby to her once she comes! Luna doesn't like kids and is very protective of me....I just hope she'll learn to be just as gentle and loving with my baby girl.
  • So jealous of all of the adorable stories!! I thought my 5 yr old Yorkie didn't notice at all, but I've been more observant recently and have decided she knows and she is NOT happy. She's been acting up a whole lot- accidents in the house, pulling Kleenex out of the trash and ripping them up, and running out the door as soon as I answer the doorbell. I think we have a rebellious only child on our hands here!! 6 months to break these lovely new traits.

  • My little kitty has recently started acting differently. I think I either posted here, or somewhere else earlier than neither cat was behaving any differently. For the past week or so, whenever I get up in the middle of the night, no matter how many times, she gets out of bed with me and rubs on my legs while I'm peeing. She purrs really loudly and will chirp at me. She keeps it up for a couple of minutes after I climb back in bed, and then she settles back down. It's fascinating. Unna's never been like that before. Jean-Luc is still just going Jean-Luc things. In fact, he's abandoned sleeping with us half the time in favor of sleeping under the Christmas tree. He spends the majority of his time there now.

  • My dog has been super cuddly since I found out I was pregnant, now that I have a big ole baby bump, he loves to lay his head on it. My other dog constantly bumps my belly with his nose or will nuzzle against it for a second or two. I've read a lot that dogs know that you're pregnant, they just don't know how many puppies you're having. I've also noticed my two dogs have become a lot more protective and won't let me go anywhere alone, which is nice because my basement gives me the creeps!
  • Before I knew for sure I was pregnant my dog would come to the couch and put her paw on my belly. I thought at the time it was wishful thinking on my part, buy at 14 weeks she still does the same thing.
  • My dog keeps staring at me funny, and HAS to sleep by my tummy! :)

  • My pit/lab has been super clingy. Also he used to sleep at the foot of the bed when bf leaves for work, now he straight up spoons with me. My cat is just as cold as ever though..
  • My dog has always favored me over my husband (I'm the one who feeds him more haha!) but since we've been pregnant he hasn't been able to get close enough or leave me alone for more than 2 minutes. The cats have also decided they are no longer afraid of the dog and climb over him to lie on my belly. I feel like Ace Ventura
