let down and ptl?

Ds1 was born at 35 weeks and this time around im on 17p shots. Everything was perfect until this past sunday when i starting leaking fluid. I have now been to l and d twice this week due to contractions that i couldnt stop...most recently last night. I still have contractions, but much less frequently. Anyhow, this week ive also noticed that my breasts are pretty full and i feel my milk let down every few hours...not as painful as with the newborn, but still uncomfortable. I figure theres some correlation between my breasts and my contractions. Im not really even sure what my question is, but has anyone else had this? At what point did you end of delivering?

  • Just a question, have you asked how long they are going to let you with leaking fluids?  Reading this I get the feeling your body is telling you it's ready for baby.

  • Agree with PP, find out why they are ok with you leaking fluid. Your risk for infection increases every day. When I started leaking AF at 37 weeks I was delivered that day, no questions asked
  • The window is usually 24-72 hours depending on how strict the hospital rules are and the ob groups rules are. To be honest I wouldn't wait too long if your leaking like PP said for risk of infection.

  • I guess i should clarify. I 'sprung a leak' according to the nurse in the hospital. When they checked my cervix tho, everything was in good shape, long and closed. The FFN was positive for AF but i guess since my cervix was closed, no one was worried? Ive not had any additional leakage since that one gush...as far as i know. It seemedlike it made sense at the time, but after reading your replies, im a little uneasy...esp since im continuing to have contractions. Should i be panicking here?

  • Your bag of waters may have closed back up.  It's not unheard of for it to do so, but not all that common either. As long as your cervix is closed and long don't stress yourself out to much.  I would worry about the constant contractions, combined with the fact that you've already experienced leaking.  Personally I'm the type that would be in there every day if this was going on.

    However, strict hospital bed rest SUCKS, but it's worth it if it's needed.  It's better to be safer than sorry when it comes to your LO. So if you're worried get to L&D and tell them what's going on. If they look at you cross eyed tell them to F off!
