Babymoon

Anyone planning a baby moon? We are going to Disney world in January with my then three year old. I'm going to miss going on the roller coasters, but I love Disney nonetheless

Re: Babymoon

  • Is that a baby moon, or a vacation during pregnancy? I'm not a
big fan of Disney, and maybe that is coloring my reaction, but that does not sound like an R&R trip before baby. When I hear baby moon, I think of the mom and dad spending time together in an exotic locale before baby comes.

And no. We aren't taking one. I can't drink, so we don't really see the point. We will be going to Las Vegas, Tahoe (twice), Scottsdale Arizona, and to our cabin several times during the pregnancy, but we aren't counting those as baby moons. I want to save my PTO to use in conjunction with maternity leave.

  • We already had a Christmas trip planned to St Martin so I am calling that a babymoon.  Also I just booked a weekend trip to Boston since we have wanted to go for a long time and I figure now is the best time before baby and before we excitedly move our butts back to California from the East Cost.

Honestly if a saw another good deal pop up in the next few months I will probably jump on that too - we really like traveling :)

  • We're hoping to, probably after the New Year when DH can take some time off work. Who knows where we'll go, though. I'd like to really get away, but DH likes driving-distance trips and I feel like we've been to Charleston and Asheville and the like a million times.

  • Kind of... We are going to Mexico for 5 days in January. Going with some other couples (family & friends) for a surprise 40th birthday. I would've gone anyway if I wasn't pregnant, but would've enjoyed the all-inclusive bar a lot more! ;)

Will enjoy the last trip away before baby comes, especially without our 2 kids who we are leaving at home with my parents.

@JerseyAKL I am in the same boat. I'll take any vacation we can before this LO arrives (this is our first). We have been married for 2 years now and I still need to renew my passport with my married name. My passport expires in 2016 so I'm debating on just waiting til then to do it.

We're going to NYC in December to visit his sister and see the city during the Christmas season.  I'm not really sure if it's considered a baby moon because we booked this trip before we found out that I'm pregnant but it is our last vacation together before the baby arrives.

NYC is the besssst at Christmas Time. It's absolutely MAGICAL make sure you do Rockafeller and look at all the window displays. And take the carriage ride in the park. If you are here over Christmas, Gramercy Park is open Christmas Eve. Sorry for info overload but I love it when people get to experience it.
And dont forget Bryant park and grand central- my favorite Christmas shops in the city that time of year!
  • Based on where I live, I'm always in a tropical locale. But hubby will not be around much during my pregnancy so no baby moon for us.

  • We didn't take one when I was pregnant with DS and spent the money on a really nice camera instead. I would love to take one this pregnancy but it would probably be a long weekend vs a real vacation.

  • We took ours in May. Or just a vacation but we did it on purpose knowing we wouldn't be able to travel again soon. We knew we were going to start TTC#2. I wanted to do it while I could still drink. We went to the Netherlands.
  • We're probably going to Disney in December or January but DH's parents haven't started planning yet (because they are insane) and they need to take the lead because they're the vacation club members!

Otherwise our wedding had some issues and they gave us a free night at the hotel so there's that… Not exactly a baby moon but a night away with free breakfast at their restaurant is better than nothing!! We just had our honeymoon in May (to Disney as well!!) so I feel like we've had a recent enough vacation.

  • Going to Costa Rica over Christmas.  Can't wait to sit on the beach!
  • We haven't done a babymoon with either of my other 2 pregnancies, but we might try to get away for a few days just the 2 of us before this baby because once we have 3, I'm not sure my parents will be able to handle it for us to go away more than an overnight. H was looking at 4 day cruises...and I was reeeallly happy :)

Without giving away too much personal information here: we should just switch houses for Christmas.
  • We don't have anything planned beforehand, but I'm fantasizing about taking a month off and spending it at a cottage by the sea after the baby is three months old.
  • We have one "vacation while pregnant" and one "babymoon" in the works.
Every year in December, my husband's company takes the company and one SO to Mexico for 4 days. All expenses paid. Well we already booked our tickets when we found out, so I will be in Mexico, with 1,200 30-40yo men and water at 19 weeks pregnant! Its going to suck not drinking and enjoying all of the perks of a company trip in that sense but I won't complain about a free trip to GORGEOUS water and weather!

As for babymoon, we are going to try to head to Clearwater, FL in Feb for four days over Valentine's Day weekend. We have hotel points and airline points so it makes it affordable. I will be 27 weeks pregnant.

  • Living in SE Asia I'm lucky that I get to have long weekends on the beach fairly often. In Dec. we're doing Cambodia and Thai beaches with DH's brother and gf. In Feb DH's parents are coming and we're thinking Bali. Pretty excited for that one.
Trade off is that family won't get to meet the baby right away.

@jparaiso‌ Whistler is sooo much better than Vancouver in December. Vancouver rarely gets snow--it's just wet and rainy...basically Seattle. Vancouver in summer is much better!

Whistler is snowy and had a cute village (feels like Switzerland), lots of skiing, snowboarding.

While I have never been, I've heard Quebec City is quite beautiful at Christmas time. The Carnaval de Québec is Jan/Feb and there's an ice palace...

  • Since I'll be off most of the summer, we will def do a beach vacation once baby is here and my oldest is out of school.

I'm really hoping for a long weekend in NYC. That was going to be my 35th bday present but money is just tight. But I would love to go with just hubby and eat my way through the city.

  • We are going to Key West and Panama City Beach, Florida with DH's parents. We had planned that trip before we knew we were pregnant. DH and I will probably take a weekend trip over Spring Break to Gatlinburg as our baby moon. It's only a 5 hour drive from where we live.
  • We will be going going to Sarasota, FL in February. It was planned before we found out, but now I'm looking at it as out last vacation as a family of two.
