MOTN Check-In

Re: MOTN Check-In

  • All five of us have colds. The baby is sleeping in the bouncy seat in the pnp so she is on an incline. So far no one seems too cranky but I feel like our whole house is covered in boogers.

  • I just dream fed LO. I want to die now. I could hear her crying and kept thinking, she just finished eating this doesn't make sense! Waking up was the single worst moment of my life!! :((
  • I just got two 3 hour stretches of sleep!!!! Man, if I could get her to bed before midnight I would feel like a rock star. Poor girl has gas now and is grunting and groaning.

  • LO just woke me up from my dream about eating snickers. Not cool Ryland.
  • Last night went amazingly smooth. LO ate at 2 and 5 and went right back to sleep afterwards. I'm kind of scared of what that means for tonight. I am not expecting a repeat that's for sure.

  • 5 hour stretch last night. 5 minute stretch tonight. Awesome. This is not cool B, go to sleep and quit eating. I swear my baby has been eating for two hours, give my boobs a break baby.
  • Holy projectile vomit! That's a first. My DS never even did that. Guess I will be hunting down some new pajamas as soon as he goes to sleep... Also what's up with the suddenly gagging on bottles he did so well for a week I finally ordered more. He must know. Gah!

  • @ambershaw512‌ my DS just did this from 7:30-10pm. I try to start bedtime early, but I rarely get into Bed before 9pm. He just slept a rare 4-5 hours, though, so I'll probably be up an hour or so after he feeds this time :/
  • And again I am not in bed while the babe sleeps. Dh and I watched AHS and lo ate right at the end for what felt like forever so he should be out for a while I hope. But I know that in reality it's likely only going to be 90 or so minutes because he's been waking up every hour.
  • LO slept 4.5 hours. I feel worse than if I had slept the normal 3 hours. Also it takes forever for me to type in the MOTN. Everything is spelled so wrong autocorrect can't even fix it. Then my eyes start crossing because I'm trying so hard to get it right.
  • She nurses and nurses and nurses and is up two hours later wide awake wanting to eat again..
  • And he is up again, I knew that 4/5 hour stretch was a one time thing :/
  • Tonight would have been decent if I could just fall asleep. LO is grunting and groaning and I've been up for almost three hours. WTF.
  • I'm fixing to just fall over dead from lack of sleep. Every time I lay LO down she wakes up, I get it that she likes me sitting up holding her, but it's a little hard for me to feel comfortable sleeping holding a newborn in my arms like that!! DD1 will be up soon. And then I really will be dead.

I keep thinking those with longer stretches are older because that is all that gets me through right now. He will not go back to sleep after a feeding, it takes hours. I just don't know what to do. He is 3.5w, I want to cry. 4w it will be better right?

It will get better. Every baby is different but my LO is 6 weeks tomorrow and gave me a 7.5 hour stretch the last two nights. Of course, I had to get up and pump a couple of times and check to see if she was still breathing... ;)
OMG yes please. Yes yes yes please. That sounds beautiful. I know that theoretically it probably does have to get better, but my heart doesn't really believe that.
  • I'm so jealous of you guys with the loooong stretches. LO took like a four hour nap from which she would not be woken from 2-6, then was little miss cranky pants and I suspect tonight isn't going to be a good one.

  • Bath done. Baby properly bundled and nursing. Hoping she goes down easy since she spent most the day awake. Fingers crossed?

@SEK1114‌ and @PintoBean77‌ ... Share your baby sleep secrets, please! Are they up all day during the day? Do you have some sort of routine established?

I wish I knew! However I have attempted to repeat yesterday in hopes of similar results. No, he naps throughout the day, but does have a few long awake stretches during the day. I was talking to a friend yesterday who had her 2nd DD same day as I had DS. I told her about DS and his multiple MOTN feedings. She told me she makes sure her baby gets at least 3 oz (pumped BM) between 10 and 11 pm and then she sleeps until 4 am usually, feeds then asleep until 8 am. So I did the same last night starting at 10 pm (my guy takes about 4oz), he stayed awake after, I played with him for a bit, swaddled him then put him on the boob at 11:10 and he snacked then was out. Next thing I know DH's alarm is going off.
    Oh, plus wizardry.
My DS is 6w5d and I am lucky to get 4 hour stretches D:. He's so unpredictable. Yesterday wide awake for two three hour chucks during the day ... Today slept all day. Tonight is gonna be a nightmare.
  • We woke LO up to eat and I pray we didn't make a mistake, but I was dripping and needed relief. Plan is to be in bed by midnight and sleep for at least 4 hours. Fx this works.

  • I'm so sleepy, and I need to get up early tomorrow. Come on baby! Lets get some sleep, puh-lease!!
  • She keeps using me as a pluggy.. Them playing possum but within a minute of me putting her down she's wide awake crying. Cmon kid.. Knock it off

Are you sure out babies aren't related??
  • @JustCricket‌ we have our 1 month checkup this morning, and, because LO is gaining but seems to be gaining on the lower end, my biggest dear is the pedi will tell me to wake him to eat more often. He doesn't really go more than a few hours in between feedings anyways, but when he does sleep for 4 hours straight it's amazing.
