I was thinking it would be good to start of thread where we can talk about when we are going in to our first trimester u/s (whether it's scan #1 or scan #2), our experiences, our fears, and even post pics!

I'll start:

11/5- 1st sono **loss mentioned in the next paragraph**

My first U/S will be on November 5th, when I will be exactly 8 weeks. This seems like it is so far away.. but on the other hand, last May I had a sono done at 5 weeks 5 days which was normal, and then on about 8 weeks and it showed that the fetus had stopped developing at 6 weeks 5 days.. so I felt like that first sono was false reassurance to me, so with that in mind, I think I would prefer to wait. I have actually performed numerous sonos on preggo women and when I had my first transvag one, I was surprised at how firmly we press and manipulate the probe at various angles against the cervix. It was moderately uncomfortable, though when you get to see your little peanut for the first time, you tend to not focus on the discomfort. My fear for this sono is that I will have a repeat of the last sono, though I know that statistically things should be fine.

I had mine today! 6w6d and I was so anxious/excited! She classified me as high risk because I told her about my recent Factor V Leiden diagnosis but she said with the proper measures, it shouldn't cause any problems! And seeing that little blip and flutter of a heartbeat was so incredible! It was mildly uncomfortable and of course I had to pee so terribly. Had some spotting afterward but doc said that's normal and no cause for worry. I have my first OB appt/next appt on Halloween so I'm excited!

Hello! I go to an RE so I had my first sono on Monday at 5 weeks, 3 days. We got to see the gestational sac & the yolk sac

I go back next week for another sono, I hope to hear the heartbeat, but as long as everything is looking good I'm okay with that.

I had my second ultrasound today. my nugget grew alot bigger than last week. Since we saw the heartbeat and the yolk sac last week, I asked my RE if we saw the fetal pole this week? And he said even better we saw an embryo!

I go tomorrow for my first one! We will be exactly 6 weeks. We lost our twin sons at 19 weeks in early July so we are going on early to make sure everything is on track and to ease our nerves.

My first one is 10/29 and I can hardly wait! I had a miscarriage in August and never made it to that appointment, so sad. I'm really looking forward to it and I hope this baby sticks around.

Had my first yesterday at 6w2d. We did the one on the outside of the belly although she said we would get a better photo if we did a vaginal US. So, photo is a little tiny dot.

I dont have mine until im 10 weeks. Nov 13 Im 7w on friday. Why do you think i have to wait so long

I have my first ultrasound around 9 weeks. I think that unless you're high risk or have had fertility issues, it's not uncommon to wait until 8-10 weeks along. For a healthy woman without any history of medical complications an ultrasound before 8 weeks isn't usually deemed medically necessary.

Had my first one at 4 +2and could only see the sac. Went back 2 weeks later and saw the bubby!! Getting excited. I have a history if ectopic pregnancy with a herniated tube so I always worry until I know bubs is in the uterus. Good luck all!

I go Monday 10/20 for my first and I should be about 7w1d if my calculations are right. Nervous but excited.

I don't have mine until November 24th - doesn't that seem crazy far away? By then I'll be 12 weeks... is that normal?

Since mine is so far out, would anyone recommend going to a pregnancy resource center to get an ultrasound done just to ease my mind? Any thoughts?

@scorpio2124 I think that's normal. And, if you wait until then you'll get to see more instead of just a tiny dot!

@gaylew5 I am in the same boat. My last ultrasounds were first normal, then showed growth had stopped and resulted in my D&C. Thoughts and prayers that your first u/s goes well! It is most certainly nervewracking after losses.

Went to the doc today I was feeling sick been taking Motrin and benedry found out I'm 6 weeks 5 days pregnant. I'm still in shock

My first US is scheduled for 10/29. I will be 7w3d. My last pregnancy ended at around 7w3d bc it was a cervical ectopic. I'm confident that everything is ok this time.

I really needed that as I am stressing every single day until my u/s!

Had my first yesterday, based off my lmp I'm 6w3d. We saw a fluttering heartbeat at a rate of 116/min, a gestational sac, and yolk sac, but based off us I'm 6w0d. I'm soo excited, my us looked like a little sparkling diamond ring in my uterus .. I'm nervous but excited too!! Next us in 4weeks

Had my first US yesterday!! Measured exactly at 7w which was what I calculated from my LMP.

Saw the little bean, heard and saw the heartbeat.. it was amazing!!!! It I so much more real now (especially for DH.. it's so cute to see him amazed by this).

The tech said the heart rate was 175 or maybe she said 165 I could hardly focus on what she was saying. Is that too high?? From what I've read, 7w heart rates are more around 120-140...but I know absolutely nothing about this stuff.

i don't know, but if your doctor isn't worried, then you should't be. how exciting! i can't wait for my first. my husband is an emotional guy, so we will probably both be bawling.

@dirtymartini My heart rate read was 160 bpm and my doctor said that was normal and could go up to 170/180 and go back down which is also normal.

I don't get to go for first US until 10/27 - so anxious. This wait is almost as bad as the TWW! Praying we can see a little heart fluttering.

First u/s scheduled for oct 29 which is 6w 5d by my LMP. I am so nervous also because with my first miscarriage this year we went in and it was a blighted ovum at a little over 6 weeks although I had felt something wasnt right because it just didn't feel real? And then I started spotting and progesterone levels were like a 3. This time I feel confident and no spotting so that is a win in my book! Can't wait!

I don't have my first appointment until Nov 19, when I'll be 8w5d. That's a whole month from now. Sigh. I'm really working on keeping the worries at bay and the joy front & center! Congrats to everyone who has already seen their LOs! I love reading your experiences.

Had my first US on 10/20 (6w 4d) and I cried! It hadn't felt real until that moment for some reason. And, seeing DH's face light up the second he saw our little sweet pea (he could see before I could) made it that much better. This is our first baby, and was a moment I'll never forget. I go back in about 4 weeks! So, I'll be around 10.5/11 weeks

Mine is an IVF pregnancy, so they monitor closely early on. First ultrasound was at 6w5d; we saw the yolk sac and fetal pole with a heartbeat of 127 bpm. It was such a relief to hear that everything was measuring on track! 2nd ultrasound was yesterday at 8w1d and I was measuring 1 day ahead. It's really starting to look like a baby now, with a head, body, and nubby arms and legs; it was incredible to see! Heartbeat was at 168 bpm, and we saw where the brain is developing, even got to see the umbilical cord. One more ultrasound with my RE at 10w5d before he releases me to the OB.

I had mine yesterday at 6 weeks 5 days and it was wonderful! Saw the beautiful fluttering of the heart beating at 122 beats per minute ❤️

Had our first this morning! Heartbeat was 138, due date was changed from June 11 to June 9, and doc said everything looked perfect.
