Just had my first ultrasound. Only saw a gestational sac and yolk sac. Thought I was 8 weeks but ob said I am more like 6 weeks. I am going back in another week for a 2nd ultrasound. Praying to see a heartbeat next Friday!
I had first US on 10-17. Sonographer said she was dating at 6 weeks exactly (I noticed on US pic it said 6w4d after I got home) I got to hear and see heartbeat. She said it was 110, but again pic said 115? She said everything was right on for being so early. I'm excited and I was still in shock and didn't hardly ask any questions. Next ultrasound is 11-13 at around 10 weeks. I'm still nervous!
Had my first U/S this afternoon for dating purposes (my periods have been random lengths since having my DS). Based on my LMP I would be 7w4d, but the u/s put me at 6w3d, I got to see the heart beat and my tiny little bean. HR was 115. I'm excited all is well so far My next app is Nov 17, but my next ultrasound won't be until between 11-13 weeks (part of the genetic screening)
But now, after seeing everyone elses pics Im a little worried that my gestational sac is funny shaped?? My RE didnt mention anything.... should I be concerned?!
PCOS- finally pregnant after 3 years of IF treatment, including 4 failed IUI.
First US was at 5w6d - saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac. Had an early US due to conceiving on clomid and a vast family history of twins. 2nd US was on Friday at 8w3d - heartbeat of 168 and perfect size for dates.
Totally normal to not have your first US until 10 to 12 weeks. My doctor wouldn't even see me until at least 8 weeks and my appointment is on my 10th week. Usually if there is low risk, they won't do an ultrasound so early unless they have a medical need.
This is mine, went in 10-22 for an 8 week appointment (Kaiser Permanente insurance) turned out to be 7 weeks so I have to go back in for an "official" US on 11-3, but they still gave me a printout of my little McNugget! Seeing the heartbeat on the screen was my light bulb; I suffer from a chronic illness that makes me experience constant nausea, stomach pain and exhaustion (basically preggo without the fun prize in 9 months) so I didn't "feel" pregnant. Watching that flutter, it finally sank in.
I'll have my first at 12 ish weeks so somewhere beginning of December. It feels so far away! My first appointment is next Monday but I know I won't find out much then. I've had some spotting this time around and although it can be normal, it's worrying me. I really can't wait to see my doc!
I am in the same boat. Since I am not high risk I don't see doc until 8-12 weeks (appt scheduled for almost 9 wks - nov 13 I think). And that is only the appointment we have to discuss then about an ultrasound. So I don't know if we will even get one with my first pregnancy we did one about 8wks to estimate dates and they put my date out by 10 days I think (I wasn't as far along as expected) Thinking that will happen again with #2 so hoping for an ultrasound.
Had my first last night @ 6+1, too small to see anything, but definitely in the uterus and no cause for my spotting seen. OB said I looked more like 5 weeks. Spotting has since stopped (yay!) will repeat it November 3. Beta went from 4100 on Tues to 7100 yesterday, so I feel a bit of reassurance but will certainly feel better when I can see a heartbeat and fetus
That's kind of what happened to me last week...they said that I might be earlier than I thought... Saw the sac where it was supposed to be, but not much else to see. I'm going in again next Friday... And trying very hard not to stress.
It's not really working... But I keep reminding myself that if my dr isn't worried, I probably shouldn't be either.
Just a PSA ladies, when sharing ultrasound pictures, make sure you cover up your name/age/other identifying information about yourselves. This is a very public forum and there could be some creepers among us!
Oops, I should have posted here instead of starting a new thread! We had our first ultrasound today! After the MC in July, it was such a miracle to see the baby and hear a heartbeat!!! I cried happy tears the whole time!

@knwilliams01 - If you don't mind sharing, was your first US transvaginal or transabdominal? And at that US, did they date the sac based on its size? (E.g., did they tell you it was 5w2d, 3d, 4d or anything?)
I ask because my transvaginal US at 5w6d did not pick up a fetal pole either, which I thought was unusual/worrisome -- mainly because I'm pretty sure my dates are right. Thanks!
I had a missed miscarriage in June after seeing a low heart rate at 6 weeks. Waited this time to go in at 8 weeks according to my LMP, and was so happy to see a heart rate of 184 and actually measuring at 8 weeks. In June I thought I was six weeks when I went in but was only measuring five, and then went back a week later and the low heart rate, then back two weeks later and no heart rate and was measuring five weeks. So even though my ultrasound this time was awesome at 8 weeks I am still cautiously optimistic. Go back next Tuesday at 10 weeks and hoping the little one is measuring ten weeks. I feel more pregnant this time around than last. Last time just had a little fatigue and a metallic taste. This time having full blown fatigue, nausea, acne, and overall feel like crap. But so worth it for a happy healthy baby in June! Sorry for the long post : )
Finally made the U/S milestone yesterday! Measured right on track 8+1 and a heartbeat of 169. We just saw the HB this time, but she said next time we will hear it.
Re: FIRST (or SECOND) Ultrasound, Share *here*

Thoughts and prayers to you!
