I would give anything in the world to poop!

Ladies, how are you dealing with this constipation!?!?! I am on Zofran and taking 2-3 colace per day and nothing! I even ate half a piece of pumpkin cheesecake (I am SEVERELY lactose intolerant) to try and help things along.... NOTHING. What to do!?!?! I am so bloated and uncomfortable :(

I stopped the zofran and took benefiber three times a day and finally I was able to go and get rid of the gas. Hope things get moving for you soon. :)

  • Last year I ate a bag of satsumas and it worked. My OB suggested citrus fruit because it helps and boy did it ever. I started eating satsumas every day after that, along with the 3 colace.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • If you can stomach broccoli, squash, zucchini, etc. Really fiber rich veggies.

  • Dried apricots and prunes. Also, if you eat yogurt or oatmeal or something like that, you can stir in a few teaspoons of flax seeds and let them soak, then eat. It really helps.
Favorite fall activity: roasting pumpkin seeds!

  • I have extreme lifelong bowel issues . I only say this to validate my "expertise" in this matter... Phillips milk of magnesia. Not joking. Dealt with this my entire life. People thank me profusely for introducing them to it. One dose before bed every night and you're golden in the morning! OB started me on it when I had a diverticulitis scare during first pregnancy.
  • Have you thought about switching prenatal vitamins without iron? I've never tried it but I've heard others talk about it.
    Fucking bump!!!!

I'm having the opposite. Ugh. 30 minutes after I eat, diarrhea. I don't want to trade Ya but I'd love to meet in the middle.

Edited: auto correct got me again.
  • I'm in the same boat and nothing is working. Fiber, prunes, nada. I keep getting false alarms and rabbit pellets but no relief. Good luck!
Rabbit pellets!  Hahaha!  Love it.  That is the perfect word to describe it.  Right now, I'd rather be constipated than puking, but I'm going to try some extra remedies this weekend to hopefully get a decent poop tomorrow.

  • I was on Zofran and the same thing happened. Drink a glass of prune juice everyday and you will get your system back on track.
  • At first I couldn't stop going. Now I can't go. I have my first appointment on Monday so I am going to ask the doctor about switching to a prenatal that has less or no iron in it. I really think after about a week of taking those is when I stopped going.

  • I couldn't stand the taste of prunes or prune juice so I bought plum organics prune purée and add about three pouches to my smoothies. There is no added sugar and it works wonders!! :)
  • I've relied about this to almost every poop post....I am happy to spread the news!
This tea is fantastic.  I started taking it before I ever got pregnant, 4 years ago, and never had any problems during pregnancy either.  It is super gentle, all natural, and helps me stay extremely regular...like, within the same 15 minutes each day.  You have got to try it!

  • It says right on the item that it should not be taken by pregnant or nursing women!
  • Apple cider (yummy!) and fiber supplements = relief.

  • I just eats hole bag of baby carrots, lol, but it works, and I have a craving for carrots.
  • Colace and yogart daily do the trick for me. Fiber one cereal or oatmeal for breakfast can help keep things moving too. Overall I drink a lot of water and try to be active. Both water and activity help, a little.
  • Probiotics help- stay away from processed foods and exercise.
  • I had the same problem and switched my prenatals to a gummy without iron and it's helped me so much!
  • Unsweetened applesauce while I'm on the toilet has been the only thing to work for me !! Good luck !
  • If you are severely lactose intolerant I would stop eating dairy because what may happen is all the diarrhea is getting blocked by the impacted stool and you will just get severe cramps until you have a decent bm. I actually thought I was having a miscarriage the pain was so bad from that happening to me. What solved everything was ground flax 2-ish times a day, 1 T of psyllium , 3 figs or prunes, plus (and this is the magic potion) warm water with lemon.... 3 sips in and I'm running to go. :) also check your iron and make sure you aren't getting too much or switch types. I switched to a liquid form and it helpe too

  • Increase your water intake, regardless of whatever method you're adding. Fiber (Miralax or Metamucil or prunes or apricots or whatever) is only helpful if it has the water necessary to move through you. You might need a stool softener like Dulcolax if there's no movement at all.

  • I hate to say this, but if you have tried colace and fiber rich foods, along with upping your water, you may want to look into taking a glycerin suppository.  They work, it doesn't hurt and within 15-30 minutes, you'll get rid of whatever is blocking you so you an continue to go.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one not able to take a crap! Sheesh. I'd give my left kidney on the black market to be able to poo! I have been on zofran, and am usually constipated in general. Now I know what kinda relief my patients felt in the nursing home after getting a "bomb" its milk of mag, mixed with a couple other things... its magic, but prob not every thing in there is ok for pregnancy lol

  • Buy a stool softener, they're okd by the dr and will help you go. Take that with the zofran once you've been able to go finally so that you don't end up constipated like this again.
  • Thanks for all the tips! It's been 12 days of pooplessness. I have tried a lot of the tips on this thread and no luck yet. I'm going to the dr. tomorrow so I will ask while I am there.
  • I ate some raisin bran and it helped a lot!
  • Magnesium powder mixed into water.. Or magnesium supplements. Cal/mag vitamins as well will help. Vitamin d from the sun will help u absorb it all. Good luck!
  • I drink a glass of prune juice every morning and it seems to keep things moving along :) I still have some bloating and don't feel like I am going as much as I should, but I think it is helping.

I also have found that juicing with apples and celery in the morning has helped as well. Hope things get moving for you!

  • @T1green‌ I have been taking the stool softeners but no luck OB directed me to have an enema today so that should be fun.
  • I had to start using Miralax once I started taking Zofran. It doesn't work right away but it does help move things along.

  • @murrayd83‌ after praying, taking fiber, and many other recommended things I finally ate buffalo wings yesterday and it cleared things up. It was a small spicy miracle lol
  • So after work this past week I thought it was getting better. Whatever I ate gave me the runs for 2 days, but since nothing.
  • My first pregnancy I use to take shots of prune juice - it was the only way to get it down!  It was uncomfortable after that but did the trick for sure!!!

When I was in the hospital getting ready to deliver my SB son, I got an enema because I was so backed up.  If your that backed up, ask your doctor about one.

    This.

My stool literally got stuck, it was the most uncomfortable feeling ever. The suppository helped, but my stuff was still as hard as a rock. I think I need to do a stool softer as well because I've already tried upping all of my fiber foods. hang in there
