November 2014 Moms

Who is team green?

I'm curious how many mama's are still holding out to see if it's a boy or girl?

I'm jealous of all of you, dh can't stand a secret or surprise. But with a boy and now a girl, if we have one more I'm getting my way and becoming team green.

Re: Who is team green?

  • I'm the last of my close friends and family to have kids, I have watched 7 live births, and the coolest moment I have ever witnessed is when the baby arrived and the doctor said "it's a girl". It was so neat. I'm excited you get to experience that.

TTC since Sept 2011, Unexplained IF
    Oct 12 - Jan 14: 3 clomid/TI cycles, 2 hysteroscopies, 2 IUIs, 1 BFP (MMC @ 12w), 2 more IUIs
    Feb 14: Gonal-f + IUI #5 = BFP! (EDD 11/4/14)
    Baby boy arrived 11/13/14!

  • We are team green! I definitely wanted to wait and DH was okay either way. My mom was totally on board until the anatomy scan approached and then was all about trying to have them just tell her. I'm finding as we approach our due date the excitement of finding out soon is helping mitigate a tiny bit of the nerves about labor and delivery! Oh, and DH has been convinced for most of the pregnancy that LO is a girl :) I'm hoping boy...

  • Still Team Green! We already have a son and a daughter so we really don't have a preference this time. We've always been Team Green though and I swear it is getting harder to find unisex clothes and bedding as time goes on.
  • Team Green here too! I convinced my hubby to wait, because I thought it'd be an awesome surprise and I didn't feel like dealing with gender stereotypes while my baby was still in utero...I figure I'll have plenty of time to deal with that later. ;)

No one has really given us that much shit for waiting and we got tons of gender neutral gear from our showers, so that was another bonus for us, since we'd like to have more kids someday.

The only thing I really hate is when people say, "Oh I could never do that, I'm a planner!" I'm a huge planner and the queen of to-do lists and deadlines. I keep everyone in my department on task. It's not too hard to plan for a baby without knowing the sex. You just have to think beyond pink and blue. Some stores are the worst at making their clothes super gendered (Gymboree and Target), but we've found lots of cute stuff at Carter's, Baby Gap, Old Navy, H&M and second-hand. I love finding clothes in bright colors rather than pale yellow and light green. Our clothing stash is super colorful with lots of fun patterns.

We've been keeping mum on our name choices too, so it'll be really exciting for the big reveal. DH is now really excited about the surprise and wants to catch and announce our little one's sex at birth! I'm getting really anxious to find out though. DH and I have both had dreams that LO is a boy and everyone seems to think boy too, since I'm carrying low. I don't really believe in hunches, so we have a 50% chance of being right!

I get this sooooooo much!!!! I'm a HUGE planner, but it's easy to plan for a BABY when you think of it just as planning for a BABY, not a boy or a girl! My favorite color is green, and I love the way grey and yellow look together. As for patterns, girls like dinosaurs and jungle animals and boys can wear paisley and argyle, so what's the big deal???

As I get bigger and closer to my due date, I get more of a "OH MY GOD THAT'S SO EXCITING!!!" reaction when I tell people we're TG. I guess the closer it gets, the less they feel like there is to wait so it's like they're over it or something :-P

  • I did not want to find out with DS1 but my husband did.  I finally caved since he was putting an addition on the house just for the baby (and to make our master room bigger).  But I told him when we have another one I get my team green decision and he didn't believe I'd follow through with it.  Whelp I did and it's driving him and everyone in my family crazy that they don't know what I'm having this time :-)

  • We're team green! It's been easier than I thought it would be but I don't really like calling the little one "it", we've been trying to come up with cute little names. I am so beyond excited for the surprise though, I have thought it would be nice to know ahead of time but thinking of the moment they are born and having my DH and Midwife announce the sex makes me all emotional and excited for that moment! We have around 5 or 6 friends pregnant and all of them have found out what they are having already, we're the only ones waiting. I can't wait for the biggest surprise of our lives!
  • Still green here. Most everyone thinks it's a boy, but dh thinks it's a girl. I'm not sure, changes daily. The baby's nickname is kermit, so I say he a lot, but more just because the pronoun matches the nn!

We are a mix...I am team green, but DH knows what it is! :) Which drives everyone around us insane and they can't believe he hasn't told me yet. :)
I to get the "how do you plan?" Question, or more often "How are you going I know what to buy?!!" Like I can't possibly buy ANYTHING without knowing. Lol, it does get irritating, but oh well. 6 more weeks and it's over!!

@JustJainey - yes to having a hard time finding gender neutral... They're all this outdated yellow duck print! :) So...I've just bought both!! :)
  • We're also still team green. The wait hasn't been as bad as I thought! 98% of people who know me are predicting a girl though. We shall soon see :)

  • Team green here also! I am getting super anxious to know what baby will be this time around :) I have no idea or feeling one way or the other.
  • We are team green as well! I am so looking forward to finding out on the birth day, but picking double lists of names is tougher than I thought! I'm glad we are waiting, but still get guesses all the time from random people.
  • We're still team green! Originally I wanted to find out and not MH. Baby kept they're legs crossed the entire 45 minute anatomy scan at 20 weeks. So then I was super annoyed and he was excited for a surprise. A month ago he started talking about paying for a 3D ultrasound so we could find out. I'm excited for a surprise now, no way we're finding out! We've waited this long and have less than 4 weeks till our due date. My mom was (and probably still is) uber annoyed that we don't know. I gave a few light hearted-ish comments about unnecessary gender norms and she's kept any annoyance to herself since.
  • Still green here!

The only one obsessed with the sex seems to be my mil.
I am so glad I don't have to see her again until after the baby is born. I am tired of her trying to 'figure it out'.

  • @joshua+rebecca11‌ -- I am so impressed that your husband hasn't let it slip. He should work for the Secret Service if he doesn't already!!
  • Team Green over here too! It's been soooooo fun! Everyone hates it, but Hubby and I love it! :)
Can't wait until the Doc says "it's a ___!!" And I cannot WAIT until Hubby goes to the waiting room full of our family, to tell them that "it's a ___!!!"
What's the point of knowing? SO we can get a bunch of Pink or Blue stuff? We'll get it after we have the baby! I have done all my planning, just like every one who is Team Pink and Team Blue. I did the nursery with a Giraffe "theme". It turned out so cute! That last thing I want is a Pepto Bismol colored wall. SO tacky! ALSO, everything I got at our Baby Shower, I'll be able to keep and reuse for our next baby. It's all neutral, so I won't have to feel bad about having a pink swing, high chair, rocker, etc... if we have a boy! It's awesome!

Way to go Team Green!!! I've gone 35 weeks not knowing, so I am getting so anxious and excited to finally find out! Only a few more weeks!!
  • Team green here!! I had to have a second anatomy scan because of not being able to get measurements and the gender. At that scan i had the tech put it in an envelope for the baby book but i havent looked! I did let it slip that i had the envelope last week to my aunt and sister who are dying to know. They made me cave with ds.
  • Oh and 80% say its a girl, including ds whos 4. Ive had 2 boy deams. Trying not to get my girl hopes up.
  • Team green x2 over here

I loved the "announcement" when DD was born. I am DYING to know what these babies are. Only 3 - 4 more weeks!

    image
  • We're team green! H felt very strongly about it, and I thought it sounded like fun, so we haven't found out. About 90% of the people in our acquaintance think it's a boy. H thinks it's a girl. Almost everyone has been really supportive of our decision not to find out. I heard through the grapevine that my parents were a little confused by our decision not to find out, but they haven't said anything discouraging to my face (which I appreciate).

Honestly, I wonder if that one element of surprise is going to be the motivating factor to get me through the hell that is labor. "If you want to find out if it's a boy or a girl, push!"

    image      image

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • It was for me. I hated the pushing part.
  • We were Team Green with DD because DH really wanted it that way. It was pretty awesome when she was born because DH was the one who got to announce she was a girl. I wanted to find out this time so I could have both experiences. Don't tell DH, but I think I liked being Team Green better. There's just something extra special about the suspense. If we have a third we'll be Team Green again! Stay strong Team Green, it's totally worth it in the end!
