selfish???

I have my first appt. tomorrow. I just found out that my doctors will only do an u/s at 20 wks (unless of course there are complications or there is a question about the date of the last period) but I really don't want to wait that long (selfish right?)

My friend, who also just found out shes pregnant, suggested I tell my dr. that I am unsure of the date of last period. What do you girls think?

how far along are you. If its still early, there probably wont really be much to see.

I personally wouldn't do it. I'd just wait.

I'd say anything to get an earlier u/s, that's just me though. 20 weeks seems like a really long time to wait...

I waited 20 weeks with DS and I am amazed by how many people on here that will lie just to get an earlier one.

I personally would not lie. Just wait the 20 weeks, it is not a big deal

Actually, I could have had an early u/s with DS because I am AMA. But since it wasn't medically necessary, I refused it

I'm not saying try to get 1 at 5 weeks, but before 20 weeks for sure...

I would personally lie. Yes it's true you won't see much if it's to early. I had my first ultrasound at almost 7 weeks. I could see a little round gray thing with something blinking in it. The thing that was blinking was the heartbeat. No I didn't see much but what little I did see made me very happy and they gave me a picture.

Well i am really unsure of the date of the first day... i just kinda have a time frame.

I'm guessing I am a 6 wks 3 days.

I don't see how that's being selfish. You're not hogging the ultrasound machine and preventing all the other mommas from seeing their babies!

I was truly unsure about my LMP, so I'm having an US tomorrow, at 7 weeks. (Or 11, but probably 7).

id wait a bit longer, but i wouldnt wait until 20 weeks!!! i had us at 5 weeks and didt see anything, and barely saw anything at 6 weeks...so sometime after that

It sounds like you are unsure of how far along you are... If you aren't sure and don't know when the first day of your last period was or if your cycles are irregular, they will probably do one to verify how long you are and give you an EDD. When I had my first appointment at 8 weeks, I was unsure and was irregular, so I was lucky enough to have them do one! I was able to see and hear the heart beat. Hopefully, this is the case for you...can't imagine waiting until 20 weeks!!!

I don't think it makes you selfish, but I wouldn't do it if I were you. I'm with a PP in wondering how so many girls can lie or go to the er to get u/s pics. If you need an u/s, the doc will order one.
