I've never heard of Bexley or Bexlyn and they sound really made up to me. NMS.

Brooklyn is lovely. You can avoid people calling her Brooke by correcting them immediately, but when she gets into school then she is free to allow people to call her whatever she likes. My DS's name has a common nn that I didn't like and when anyone called him that I would politely correct them and it was never an issue after that. Now that he's a teenager and he also prefers his full name or a different nn (not the nn that I originally didn't like).

    Good luck.

This.  DS2's name has 2 common nn. I can't stand one and DH hates the other, but we have never had anyone call him anything other than his actual name because that's what we tell people his name is. If you really do not want to use Brooklyn, you could always make it her middle name.

  • If you're looking for unique names what about harlyn? That's what I've decided on and I don't mind sharing :)
  • Dont do it...just bc you want to be unique?? The poor girl in school or as an adult...... :|
  • Bexley and Bexlyn are NMS..I'm a Crystal from the 80's and am naming my lil guy Jackson. My 2 cents is that people are going to call your child whatever they want regardless of actual name. Also, ask yourself if you want to constantly correct the way people are pronouncing or spelling her name. I foresee this as being super annoying and it will never go away. I am in no way trying to be snarky so please don't take it that way. For added assurance..here's a smiley. :)

  • My friend's daughter's name is Brooklynn. And they call her either that, or Brooke Brooke. I'm actually from Brooklyn, Ny so personally I don't like the name. Bexlyn is different. And at the end of the day, if you like it, go for it. Just don't be mad when she can't find her name on keychains and magnets when she's older lol.
  • What about Brynn or Brennan?
  • Have you ever checked out behindthename.com? It's a really cool site and may help you and hubby find a happy medium if you decide to not use either of the names in your OP. I have a unique name and personally I hated it until I was an adult and my kids have standard names because of it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to name her :)

  • Just throwing it out there, Bexley is a town on the outskirt of Greater London in the SE, not that great a place. Prob that's why the name seems weird to me that someone would name their kid after it :-?

  • I am having a difficult time with naming our boy to be. If anyone has suggestions I would love to hear them!
  • Brooklyn is the only name I would consider from that list, the rest are not NMS.
