Like @absolutelymaybe, I too am a Canon girl!! Nikons are good too, though. I've heard Nikon focuses more on vibrant, colorful pictures where Canon focuses on better resolution and quality. I could be totes wrong about that though .
@emw87 - I'm a Canon girl, myself. But the Nikon D3200 is a good camera, too. I guess. :-)
@mander82 - I don't have any experience with that, but I'm sitting here chuckling in a 12-year-old boy fashion because you talked about massaging something and it getting "rock hard." I'm sorry. I'm clearly to immature for polite conversation.
Ba ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Thats hysterical! I didn't even think of that when I was typing it !! Thanks for pointing that out, that is some funny shit! )

@mommymeg143 My first born was completely unexpected 2 weeks early (my water broke)! And I have a hard time truly believing the whole "how your mother labored stories" because my labor was nothing like my mother's three...
I guess a lot of us are getting to the cervical check time. Today I am 35w5d. I had mine this morning and maybe I wasn't relaxed enough but that fn hurt. Good to know I am thick and closed still lol. Not looking forward to more of those.
The rest of the apt was just as awesome lol I got the flu shot, the GBS swab and even my first cath Too much protein in the cup this morning so it was either that or take home a bucket to pee in for 24 hours :-& Cath collected pee came back perfectly normal though so no worries. But it still stings a bit when I go to pee today. Talk about a hell of a way to kick off today hahaha

I just got my first one yesterday. Was so worried because everyone says how much it hurts. It didn't hurt me at all. I commented to my doctor (who is incredibly cocky and I love it) and he gave some cocky response about how it only hurts if the OB does it wrong (something about following the natural angle of the vagina). (I also giggled inside by mention of vagina angle...)
The catheter sounds terrible. Glad it came back ok!
@bethas - I would talk to him about your concerns and ask if you can skip it. I mean, it's not like you're just barely pregnant and trying to pull the pregnancy card to get out of something -- you're clearly almost due and that training sounds like a lot for anyone to handle. He probably wasn't even thinking about the psychological aspect or potential stress to someone who is about to give birth when he was making sure you'd be there.

@bethas Fellow teacher advice coming :-) I would talk to your principal and see if there's any way you can still participate without participating. Does that make sense? Like you could be there, learn the strategies (I know the Alice method is pretty different from traditional lockdown), but not be expected to actually run, climb through windows, and actively do the drill.
@clarasmomma I'm currently taking 90mg of procardia once a day for contractions that started 2 weeks ago. It hasn't stopped them but they have lessened in pain/severity/frequency. I know @JamieK1882 was/is also taking it. I'm sure there are a few others as well that are or have taken it.

Yeah I just got prescribed the 10mg capsule to take every 6 hours. Got the shot as well. Hoping it has slowed things down (I'm only at 33 weeks. LO is measuring at 4lbs. 15 oz.) And have only felt one small contraction today. I go back in to L&D in two hours to get my other steroid shot and hooked up again. I'm hoping for good news. Just want a healthy little girl.
I've been to L&D twice. I got a terbutaline shot both times. It worked great the first time but not so great the second. Some days my contractions are worse than others but I'm not dilated at all so they aren't too concerned. My past visit (this past Sunday) I got a steroid shot for LOs lungs and then went to my dr the next night and got another one just in case he comes early.
It sounds like they know what they're doing with you and that you're in good hands Good luck!
So DH had another talk with his boss and is holding off on leaving for now. But would bet money this is the last time a talk will fix things. His boss needs to actually follow through now. Breathing a little easier but it is still scary thinking that if he does leave the only real/best option is for him to make a game on his own...
And ouch! Finally sucked it up and got my flu shot and TDAP shot and they hurt going in and my arm is already sore
Random friend vent...
I often chat on instant messenger with a friend during the day. She has a kid 6 months younger than DD. It seems like EVERY time I mention something about DD (which isn't very often) this friend sends me a link to an article suggesting that I am parenting her "wrong". It's getting on my last nerve.
Example: DD is potty training. I tell friend "DD hasn't had any accidents in a week!" Friend responds with an article about why it's bad to potty train children too early. Seriously?
Yes, I know there are good and bad potty training methods and yes, I know you can do too much too soon but... DD wanted to start using the potty (she would rip off her diaper and run to the bathroom) so I made the potty available to her. Back off crazy friend lady, u don't know my lyfe!!!
ETA: This is a local friend I see quite frequently... she really should know my lyfe
This would make me ragey @KUinCBUS. Unless you are asking her for advice, sending you articles and information is completely unnecessary and rude IMO. Gah! Some people say don't do it too early, others say you can do it too late. There is no wrong way and what works for one person will not work for the next. Right now DD is sitting on her potty, in the living room watching Daniel Tiger and wearing her bicycle helmet. Will I be winning Mother of the Year for this? No. Would someone sending me an article (in a condescending fashion) about how I'm doing it wrong make me change my ways? Doubtful.
@WildFlower810 So frustrating! Big hugs and hopefully he can start actually helping.
@Emnob28 He started out just designing and developing cards for trading card games (Magic the Gathering TCG, World of Warcraft TCG). With this latest position he has also basically been heading up the design and development of the entire game in addition to the cards.
He would have other opportunities open to him, but they'd all have less responsibility and control than he already has. Which means the best option for him would be to start making a game on his own.

Sending good thoughts your way for baby to stay put a little longer!!
@wildflower810 I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Your whole pregnancy has been one stress after another. I really hope that your husband gets his shit together and helps you out!
I posted earlier about my new bed being delivered today. I'm sitting at work (where I've been since 7:30am and will be til 9pm) thinking about how I can't wait to sleep in my new bed tonight.
All of a sudden, I get this pang of guilt for being happy about my new bed and I instantly shed a tear of sadness for my old bed. Like legit felt like a part of me was missing all of a sudden. Started thinking that last night was the last night I'll ever sleep on it and thinking of all the "memories" we've had.
I keep remembering that the baby is coming soon and freaking out. One minute I'm excited and can't wait and the next I freak out and feel totally unprepared.
@WildFlower810 Sending you huge hugs. Moving while 8 months pregnant absolutely sucks. My DH's pack rat ways are driving me nuts too! I threw a bunch of his random junk out while he was at work today... shh!
Hang in there mama - at least we'll have a "good" story to share w/ our LOs someday!

@clarasmomma I take 20 mg every 6 hours. It is okay. Stops a lot of the contractions but I still have a few. The first few days were a little rough on it. I have lower BP, so it affected me a little more in terms of light headedness and such. But now it is much better.
@megbanachek He started playing the game when it came out, won a ProTour in the early 2000's and then got to start working for them. It's been a pretty amazing dream/ride for him. He LOVES games Right now he is working with three rather famous Magic players and it's fun to see people react when they meet the guys at a local store. It's a great game with some good people

I have gotten carpel tunnel in the past few weeks. I know some of you ladies mentioned you had it as well! It's so annoying! Night time is the worst and I hate the wrists brace. Lately during the day when I talk on the phone and hold the phone with my right hand, the tip of my middle finger goes numb! I dislike this very much!
Had an appointment yesterday and baby is head down, but posterior. I've been advised not to do any deep squatting, reclining, or anything that might make the baby descend deeper into my pelvis. I am just happy as hell that LO isn't kicking my cervix through the night and that I don't have to worry about a breech baby.
I have been having a lot of Braxton-Hicks lately, so they did my first cervical check yesterday and I was expecting it to hurt like hell, but it wasn't that bad at all and I've been known to shed a tear sometimes during paps. Just take in deep breaths and make sure you are in a position where gravity helps them out to reach your cervix. Hopefully you'll have a painless experience too @catlady22@mander82!
New plan... I'm going to a Mom's meet up on Saturday and leaving H to work through his stuff without me breathing down his neck. This plan is not only approved by H, but strongly voted for by him. A minute ago he says "you know, we could probably get this all done this weekend." We shall see. I told him we can use half of Munchkin's closet for storage. I honestly don't have any other use for it in the foreseeable future and I don't mind H's childhood toys in the kids room. FX that Saturday is the day my living room reappears.
Every husband is different, but I found something interesting during our unpacking process. One day he was quiet and I went upstairs and he was unpacking the master bedroom. I started to help him and he nicely said that he didn't tell me he was doing it because he gets more done without me. I need him to put the boxes on the bed or a higher surface so I can reach things.
Soooooo, maybe he'll be super productive while you're gone!
I'm seriously so angry at that girl for her post on the newbie thread that after responding to her, I can't even go back in to see what she responded with. I'm going to put it off until Tali goes to bed.
I'm such a control freak I wouldn't let DH help unpack when we moved in June. I gave him little jobs instead, like cutting shelf paper haha. It went ok. I hate moving. Good luck getting unpacked @wildflower810!
Ok, I'd like some perspective and to vent. At my appt today my doc asked if my first labor was short. I laughed and said no. She seemed optimistic though that this one could be. Fine, cool. So I was relaying this story to DH later and he was just like "well your labor wasn't really that long."
I was in early labor for 48 hours with contractions 15 min apart and then in active labor with pitocin for 14 hours. Maybe that's average for FTM, but I wouldn't call it short. And couldn't he just humor me? I mean, really.
Anyway, I just want some opinions. Would you call that a short labor?
I don't know why it even bugged me, but it did.
@kakicloud Nuuuuuu. I wouldn't say that's short at /all/. The 14 hours active is maybe average, but being worn out my 48 hrs of early labor beforehand? That's marathon. Of course, I'm coming from the perspective that my first labor was about 7 hrs (which I do consider short) and my second was about 3 hrs (which is just ridiculous).
And also, sympathetic rage face at your DH - they should know to never, in any way, belittle what we've done and only express awe at our ability to endure something they will never be able to truly experience. Psh. "not that long." You try it sometime, mister.

I read it and was all
But she quickly saw she was wrong. Whenever you decide to go back.
Tonight my DH pulled out that long thoughtful look at my belly and the "You know... I don't think you'll make it to your due date."
Thanks, fella. Thanks. Yes I'm enormous and she's dropped so much that I can feel her familiarizing herself with the exit route, but please do not join the coy "Any day now!" crowd that seems to accost me whenever I venture out into the world.
