I'm so sick of people says "just wait" or "haha" or "good luck" or "you'll see" or whatever other unsupportive, unhelpful thing that comes to their mind when I say I'm planning on laboring at home as long as possible and having a med free birth. It makes me want to prove them all wrong SO badly which irritates the hell out of me since while that is my plan if it doesn't go accordingly I am flexible. I want to do what is best for me and the baby. I don't know what kind of labor I will have! But with all these comments I feel like its going to make me super stubborn just so I don't have to hear "I told you so" etc after the fact. I solemnly swear that I will not say shit like that to other pregnant women.
THIS.
I'm going to the hospital but am opting out of the epidural. Mostly because I can't stand the thought of a needle going anywhere near my spine and I'm way to anxiety ridden to feel comfortable not feeling half of my body...no thanks. But I've gotten all these comments and it makes me so angry! I have a deep seeded desire to prove those people wrong. No matter what happens, epidural or not, it makes me want to go back and tell people that it was a walk in the park and I just sneezed and he came out.
I tested positive for Group B Strep via urine sample a long time ago when I went in thinking I had a UTI so they aren't even going to bother with the swab.
Its no wonder pregnant women want to punch people in their throat.....there was leftover dessert from my shower yesterday and I got some dirt to eat. I LOVE dirt, but never make it myself.
Coworker says to me : Eat it now while you can, cause after that baby is here, I will yell at you for that to get you back in line"
Fuck you..........leave me alone..........I will eat what I want, when I want. I mean, how the fuck am I supposed to respond to that ?? Oh goodie, a food nazi waiting for me when I come back from maternity leave! Yipeeee!!!!

@mommymeg143 If you are nervous about it and have no concerns or signs of labor, I wouldn't bother getting a cervical check. It doesn't really mean anything as you could be closed and quickly go into labor, or you could be like me and be 1 cm and 50% effaced for 2 months now.

Ughhhh...I hate that too!! I'll eat what I want, when I want, lady!!
I had an interview yesterday for a volunteer position at my local children's shelter. The executive director randomly said, my first child was a c-section, the second was VAGINAL. The way she emphasized the word, vaginal, freaked me out a little. I mean, I was so happy that she had a VBAC, but I had just met her and i'm in an interview.
For the Strep B testing....they told me they would give me a swab and let me do it myself in the bathroom. She said I have to swab my vaginal area, then rectal.
@misssnacholover I have thought about the poop thing too....and my preperation H usage......I need to have a clean bumhole for this test!!! I don't want to hand the lady a swab with a brown spot on it !

Why are nanny shares illegal in Maryland? What stupid representatives voted to make them illegal? You can only do it if the nanny lives with one of the families. Way too much government intrusion into my life.
Yesterday at my MW appointment I did the strep b test. (My MW allows you to perform the test on yourself) I was completely grossed out at what the swap looked like when I was done. (TMI, I know.) I had done a total scrub down and showered after I had gone to the bathroom, and it was still more disgusting than I had expected.
My MW has been using the EDD has shown with my u/s which is Nov 1st, and she said that I will considered full term on Saturday at 37 weeks! Which is awesome, since I will be can deliver at the birth centre for sure after Saturday!
Yesterday was also my first acupuncture appointment and I have to say that it was freaking amazing! So relaxing! I am doing it for birth prep. Basically they are getting everything aligned for a speedy recovery. She worked on my hips yesterday and I feel great today!
So...I know this has been discussed a MILLION times. It's a shame we can't just KNOW the exact day our baby will come because that would just be easier.
My question for all the moms whose baby came early...was there an indicator that you would deliver early? Or did labor just spontaneously start for you?
The reason I ask... a friend of mine is getting married on October 25th. She has to have an EXACT number of people attending so I can't say yes, and then not show up. On the flip side, I can't say no and then show up. I would just say no to save any complications but she really wants us to come. I feel great now but i'm not sure how I will feel come October 25th (I don't expect you to know how I will feel either )... My mom had my brother and I two weeks early. So, if I run the same course as my mom...Emmy would be two weeks early...which would be the weekend of the wedding and I would fo sho not be there.
So..my question is... for those of you who delivered early...was it expected or unexpected?

So we are team green but at my last ultrasound at 30 weeks, after asking if we knew the baby's sex and us saying no, the tech at 2 separate times in the appointment referred to LO as 'he". I was kind of bummed that she had let it slip but then decided I wanted confirmation from my doc. Yesterday I explained to my doc what had happened and she explained to me that it's quite common for ultrasound techs and even OB's to refer to babies as "he" or "him" rather than "it" if the sex is unknown. Anyone else team green had a slip or something similar happen??

Did you explain the situation to her? If it were me getting married, I would tell you to RSVP yes and then if you go into labor, well, there isn't much that can be done about that. I get that it's nice to have numbers to plan, but in a situation like this there is literally nothing you can do... I suppose you could always offer her money to cover the cost of your meal if you end up going into labor that weekend?
Sorry I'm not answering the question you actually asked, but just trying to clarify the situation.
@lissydee..YES, i'm apparently obsessed too. I just was in a trance watching your siggy for at least 5 minutes. Haha
RE: Cervical checks. I'm glad you all brought that up. My OB said he would start this Tuesday if I wanted. I'll be 36 weeks. I'm not sure if I want them or not. I'm super curious as to what is going on down there but i'm terrified something will happen. I keep thinking about the person who posted on the "BIG" random thread about the doctor who accidently ruptured the amniotic sac during a cervical check. @-)
Someone make up my mind for me... I'll pay you in cake.
As I recall, that "accidental rupture" was reported by a third party regarding a woman that was past 41 weeks anyway...? Fishy. My personal hesitancy leaned more toward introduction of bacteria, discomfort to gain no exceptionally useful information, irritating the cervix, unnecessary ventures up my hoo ha in general, etc. I have a tilted uterus and was expecting some discomfort at the very least, but it wasn't bad at all. I think it helped that I was able to relax a lot after talking it out with my OB. She assured me that the checks were most problematic with placenta previa. I didn't get why checking dilation and effacement regularly would benefit anything since you could be just as likely walk around at 4 cm & 80% for weeks as go from tight & thick to holding a baby overnight... she said the benefit is in possibly changing the guidelines of when to head to L&D as even as a FTM, she'd be more likely to admit at 5-1-1 knowing (for example) 4 cm & 80% already/ history of progression instead of waiting until 3-1-1 with history of being tight & thick. I dunno. I chalked the check consent up to my personal curiosity more than anything ">
I had completely forgotten (or mentally blocked?) the GBS swab test until this thread.... ugh!
DS has had a high fever for FOUR days. I took him to the doc on day 2 and they couldn't find anything wrong, just one of his ears was a "little pink but not to worry", day 3 was hell and when I took him back this morning they were like "oh it's you again, he just has a fever, he's fine", treating me like a moron. I insisted they check his ears again, and sure enough he has a raging ear infection. HA! Screw you doctor!
Today was supposed to be DS' dayhome day though, so I had to cancel my chiro & massage appts this afternoon, which makes my very sore back (from carrying around a very whiny cranky toddler for 4 days) very very sad.

I just realized that I'm due right in the middle of NaNoWriMo. I really wanted to do it again, and am all of a sudden realizing that's probs not going to happen. Guess maybe I'll start and see how far I can get before baby interferes.
So...I know this has been discussed a MILLION times. It's a shame we can't just KNOW the exact day our baby will come because that would just be easier.

I'm also on team "RSVP Yes" and then if you can't go, you can't go. Not much either of you could do about it at that point and I would think it would be pretty hard for anyone to get mad at you for going into labor! I'm a FTM so no experience but from what I understand there's really just no way to know about the timing in most cases.
I feel terrible, absolute Mom of the Year, but I am done with pregnancy. I mean *done*, get this baby out of now, let my water break at my desk, I'll even skip the drugs if he would just come now, but he's already the size of a 38 week old at least, my shirts no longer cover my belly so I'm flashing stomach to everyone at work, and i just can't do it any longer... I guess its safe to say it's the same shit that we're all feeling. But I'm only 35+1, and every time I see a new birth announcement, baby has had to go to NICU, and i don't want Noob to require that! And I think about how scary it must be for all the early moms. So then I cry and cry because I'm such a horrible mamma for wishing my baby to be a preemie just because I am miserable. But I still want him OUT! And the cycle starts again.
@terberell We are also team green and my US tech did warn that she often uses "he" as a default and she did on a couple of occasions (I also tend to use he...maybe because I have a son). She told me she didn't know at the end boy vs. girl, so who knows.
@mommymeg143 FWIW I delivered DS at 38 weeks. A few days before I was in my OB office and on cervical check was 4 cm dilated and fully effaced, but I didn't have any noted contractions up to that point or BH that I could feel. I did know that and wasn't suprised when I went into labor a few days later.
I hate when people expect children to act like adults. Even md DH does it sometimes.
For example we were at a FAMILY restaurant the other day and DS was in the booth with DH on a booster. He learned that if he wiggled his butt that the booster would move and he would laugh when he did it. LAUGH. DH was getting all upset that he was laughing and making fun noises in a restaurant!!! THE HORROR! People might get annoyed at LAUGHTER!
I told him to drop it and that he was having fun and not hurting anything. The alternative would be screaming, would he prefer that?!
Now I KNOW that there are parents that let their kids run wild but it sound like they were just being kids!

Wut? lol Had to google that. From my limited knowledge and a glance at the website - I say do it! Is there a cost associated? If not then you should do it for sure. Good luck!!
Random: Can someone please explain to me why I would rather finish eating this delicious cup of ice instead of the lunch that is sitting in front of me? I have never liked ice! I can't get enough lately and its weird.

Does it count if I completed NaNoWriMo once about 5 years ago? I've had something going on nearly every November since then that I haven't even attempted it again. I hold onto hope for the future though!
Random friend vent...
I often chat on instant messenger with a friend during the day. She has a kid 6 months younger than DD. It seems like EVERY time I mention something about DD (which isn't very often) this friend sends me a link to an article suggesting that I am parenting her "wrong". It's getting on my last nerve.
Example: DD is potty training. I tell friend "DD hasn't had any accidents in a week!" Friend responds with an article about why it's bad to potty train children too early. Seriously?
Yes, I know there are good and bad potty training methods and yes, I know you can do too much too soon but... DD wanted to start using the potty (she would rip off her diaper and run to the bathroom) so I made the potty available to her. Back off crazy friend lady, u don't know my lyfe!!!
ETA: This is a local friend I see quite frequently... she really should know my lyfe
Does she work for Pampers or Huggies?
Ugh. This makes me so mad!! She would probably burn me at the stake because my daughter was in underwear during the day and accident-free at 6 months and at night just after she turned a year old. (No I am not crazy, no it's not hard. No, my daughter is not scarred nor does she have a messed up bladder or bowels.) X(
IDK if anyone follows Prayers for Shane on FB or not. It was a pretty popular news story that circulated about a mother carrying to term with a terminal diagnosis but I'm not sure if that's just because I'm so involved in the loss community. Anyway their baby was born this morning and I literally have not been able to compose myself. I've been crying all morning about this sweet little baby and I don't even know them. I feel ridiculous and it's also tied up with my own shit but I cried my makeup off before I even got to work.
I first read the story a few weeks ago. Sobbed my way through all their pictures. I saw an article this morning that the baby was born and I couldn't wait to click on it. Once I did, I lost it. Sobbed like a baby for a long time. Showed it to the girl I'm training and it broke her heart, too...and she's not even pregnant.
I can only imagine how it felt for you if I felt so sad about it. Big hugs. >:D<
@KUinCBUS you need to get your own links together about passive aggressive behaviour and send those back. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. It's beyond rude!
@hiketheworld and @Kllopez1221 - yes! I am so tired of people who tell me I'll want an epidural, or give me birthing advice. Especially MEN! Like, what do they really know? Please, keep your mouth shut about my labor and delivery unless you are a close friend who is going to be positive and honest. @MrsG1019 - adorable football costume!!
And WHAT??? What is this I hear about a rectal and cervical swab for Strep B? Third tri checkups are sounding less and less exciting.
@FhSTAR81 and @sweetbabyrahe - Thanks for the feedback! My husband is so pumped for the delivery day surprise that I felt so bad for him finding out early if it was an actual slip.
@lizgrace03 and @ejpetey..thank you, girls. I am going to RSVP yes and will reimburse her if I happen to not make it. That's a fantastic idea!
@nunyabennis...Thank you! That information helps alot in making my decision. I'm so curious as to what's down there. I haven't had contractions so i'm sure it's tight and thick but what if it's not!! Haha
@sweetbabyrahe..My doc keeps saying my mom's history holds more clues than I think as to when I would deliver but I haven't had ANY contractions so I keep second guessing that she could come early. I don't want her to come too early but I would much rather have her here mid 38/39 weeks then at 41 weeks 1 day which is the average for FTM. Your experience makes me think that the first choice is actually possible.
@hiketheworld@Kllopez1221 & @joshua+rebecca11 You guys can totally do it! My MIL went med free for all 3 of her deliveries and talks about it like it was no biggy haha! She is so nonchalant I wish I could have her talk to you haha So seriously, ignore those people. And best of luck to you guys

This means you're going into labour for sure. I know this from how many movies and tv shows I've seen where women in labour eat ice chips. It's true.
My legs are so sore. Yesturday morning I got a major cramp and both legs feel like they are on a verge of cramping up. When DH got home I asked him to please massage my legs so they would feel better. "I will after dinner." " I will after my show" "I will when we go to bed" Well bed time comes and he finally does, but its so half assed because he is tired that I just end up crying my self to sleep.
Seriously a 5 minute decent leg rub is too much to ask? Apparently tonight he'll give me a real one. He better or I'm taking the cash he makes at a side job this week and blowing it on an actual massage instead of it being his fun money. He can suck it up.
Also making me upset today : The bank just called. DH turned 26 last week and I turn 26 in January. According to the bank that means we are no longer "Young Adults" and need to update our chequing accounts. Way to make feel good bank
@Scarlet3egonias - craving ice can be a sign of low iron, just fyi.
I really hope that's not the case. My iron has been fine so far and my dr puts ALL of his patients on iron supplements during the 3rd tri so I'm taking those too!

Remember how I mentioned that I'm obsessed with smells?? Well...I'm currently headed to Macy's because I'm addicted to the way their store smells. It's like I need to smell it...right now.
I also stopped into Bath and Body works today which was random because I usually don't like to pay $12 for my lotions and soaps. While there, I found the most amazing scent ever called Pumpkin Apple, which they had in candle form. Turns out they only sell it as a "wall scent" so no lotion, soap, nothing and they were sold out. I couldn't even buy the candle!! I almost cried in the store. So, now I'm stopping by another bath and body works after my smell through at Macy's to see if they have it.
@venussapphire Could be that your bank has a special account for those 25 and under. Like a started account with some freebee's attached to it.
Now they wanna get you in and sit down to talk about adult stuff, like loans you don't need, and special accounts to accumulate money you don't have.
I used to work as a teller for a bank and we would always have to try and get the recent college grads out of their college checking accounts because we made more moeny off of them is they were in an adult one. For example in a college account, 1-2 overdraft fee's could be waved each month if the situation warranted it not so much in a adult one.
Random question.....just wondering if I am alone here.
Lately when I am massaging oil onto my belly, it gets rock hard.....is that baby pushing back on me, or does massaging the belly cause a BH contraction ?
I don't expect anyone to really know.....lol....just curious if anyone else has had this happen.

Wut? lol Had to google that.
I can only imagine how it felt for you if I felt so sad about it. Big hugs. >:D<
@MrsG1019 - adorable football costume!!
And WHAT??? What is this I hear about a rectal and cervical swab for Strep B? Third tri checkups are sounding less and less exciting.
Also, the same mailman listening to opera on his headphones the other day was also listening to hip hop today. Such a varied musical interest.
You guys can totally do it!
It's true.
I really hope that's not the case. My iron has been fine so far and my dr puts ALL of his patients on iron supplements during the 3rd tri so I'm taking those too!
Not gonna lie - I lol'd.I also stopped into Bath and Body works today which was random because I usually don't like to pay $12 for my lotions and soaps.
I'm so weird.

@mander82 - I don't have any experience with that, but I'm sitting here chuckling in a 12-year-old boy fashion because you talked about massaging something and it getting "rock hard." I'm sorry. I'm clearly too immature for polite conversation.
