Totally agree! I'm a Heather, (I'm surprised there aren't more of me on this board given that terribly campy 80's movie!) and I always HATED not having a nn I could shorten mine too. DD will have a name that we will shorten, and when she's an adult she will have a name she can feel confident (I hope) putting on a resume as well!

I'm Janette and sometimes go by the nn Netty.

My mother wanted to name me after my grandmother, but didn't want to go with Janet. It's an uncommon spelling of the name, as most are Jeanette or Jeannette. I much prefer the spelling my parents chose, even if I can't find anything with my name on it. I was the only kid in my school with the name and have only ever met a few others with the name(not the same spelling) when I was a kid, but they were in their forties and up. I absolutely hate when people think it's pronounced Janet and call me as such. Though, my hubby's favorite thing to do when I do something silly/frustrating/etc is go 'Dammit, Janet.'

I'm Elena! It's a pretty common Spanish name. It's been in my family for a while. Basically everyone except my daughter is Elena Maria or Maria Elena. I always hated not being able to get cheesy souvenirs so I named my daughter Lily. Little did I know everyone would misspell it for Lilly! Ugh. Vicious cycle. Nice to meet everyone!

I have no idea! And you wouldn't believe how often it happens! Nichole isn't even the predominant spelling of Nicole!

Weirdly enough, my name (which I love) isn't often printed on souvineer stuff. Or, at least, wasn't in the 90's.

I'm Ashley too. I'm an 80's baby and it wasn't that popular when I was in grade school. But I do meet a lot of younger people with the name.

a guy in maintenance told some new people that my name was shanaynay. well they believed him! so i had a bunch of grown men calling me that until finally i was like why do you keep calling me that. I had to explain to th the guy was messing with them.

I'm Jessica. #1 name of my birth year, so there were always a ton of us, but I don't remember it ever really bothering me. I like my name now even though I suppose it's pretty dated.

Once in a blue moon someone will ask me how to spell it and it totally throws me off. Like, really? You know how to spell it.

I'm not one to share my real name on TB as well (although I have done it in the past). I will say that iy's a 9 letter name and when people spell half my name as a NN, they always leave out the most important letter. It changes my name to a thing and it's so annoying.
