Ok, I have a random for you ladies. I've found that I get oddly stressed come nighttime. With this baby coming any minute now, for some reason I've been getting nervous at the idea of going into labor in the middle of the night (like I have any choice). Something about driving to the hospital in the middle of the night stresses me out. Maybe it's about being ripped out of my comfort zone at an uncomfortable hour only to have to go to an even more uncomfortable place in the darkness of the night. Ehhh, who knows.

Alright, there's my piece for the day.
For some reason, my favorite experience of going into labor and getting checked into the hospital was when it occurred at night...

Maybe because I was at home comfortable and we weren't in the midst of a busy day trying to entertain the toddlers, DH at work, etc. The hospital was peaceful when we got there. The roads were peaceful along the way.

Where as this time Dh was getting ready to leave for work, it was lunchtime and kids were begging for food, a guy on a motorcycle got hit by a car on the rather busy street towards the hospital, our labor babysitter happened to be out running errands and didn't hear her phone for quite a while - it was overall a semi-stressful afternoon.

This sounds like something I would say. But why were you in the parking lot of a halfway house in this scenario?

I work at said halfway house. I teach GED, remedial reading and math, and job search skills as a way to help felons transition back into the community more successfully (as in lower the chances of them becoming repeat offenders).

Then there is indeed more of a chance of you being in a parking lot of a halfway house than me being in a parking lot of a halfway house. Doesn't mean I still wouldn't say it. I feel like I remember this about you now that we are talking about it.

Mine's actual diagnosed anxiety, but it's worse in the evening and at night. It makes it worse that I'm so uncomfortable in bed. That used to be a nice relaxing time for me, but now it's like...I don't want bedtime to even come.

  • @MirsSinner402 - I'm sorry you are having a hard time with breastfeeding! I hope you can find whatever will work best for the two of you. I know with DS I was so super ready to quit at 10 days. I didn't and we made it to 4 months but I almost regretted going for so long. You do whatever will work for you and your baby girl.

  • @pnwlover12 - I wasn't around this weekend, so I missed the details of your epic Costco trip.  Most importantly, DID YOU BUY THE FROZEN BELGIAN WAFFLES?!?!

Also for everyone else, there's a whole truckload of BSC still going on in M15.  One of their mods just quit because everyone is getting pissed off at them for not helping stem the tide of drama.  And because I'm so extra, all I could think was "Oh good, we're not the only BMB that had mod issues!  We aren't crazy!"
There were no frozen belgian waffles at my costco!! I specifically looked! All they had was bullshit eggos! :((

  • So I don't really get bothered by people asking when baby is coming... that is up until now that DH is asking All. The. TIme. TP!! Seriously?!? Asking me when I think baby will come 5 times a day is not going to change when she actually comes and I'm no closer at knowing right now than I was 2 hours ago!

    @trisharenee0316

That makes me sad because from what I understand their mod is actually fine, but the board has skewed expectations of what a mod is actually capable of doing.  But, I haven't been following the entire thing, so I could very well be wrong.

Also, I'm so curious what your friend is crowdfunding to buy!

  • @SPurp13

You're such a crazy good friend to all the cats I can't even put it into words.  I'm familiar with fecal transplants in humans (Crohn's Disease has been added to my therapeutic focus), but never in animals.  I love hearing about vets who are willing to borrow therapies for humans and try them in animals!  We need more vets and owners like you guys.
I love cats. People, I could do without most of the time.

Yeah, it's the first time she'd ever done it. We love our vet. She called OSU to consult, and they walked her through it. The procedure was like $50. Because. It's poop. And that included a two-night stay, because they didn't charge me for the second night, since--true story--the donor cat, Smitty, took TWO DAYS to poop, so we were just waiting on his poop, since it had to be fresh.

I did a lot of reading about it, and it seems like they use it for a lot (Crohn's like you said, and maybe IBS? I think? Anything that causes you to not have the "good" bacteria in the gut, basically.), and in humans, they can actually do a sort of pill. And they say not to be discouraged if it doesn't work for a few months, and it did take a while for us to see a difference.

My husband was thisclose to starting to make our own cat food to give that a try to see if she had allergies. Like, buying a grinder strong enough to grind bone and all. I'm maybe relieved it didn't come to that or the steroids.

Now when we go to the vet, they're like "It's Lola! Smitty's here, Lola, do you want to see him?" Lola's like, "Bitch, no."

They similarly like Butters because he has a long history at the vet, too, but that's a story for another day, children. It includes snot, not poop, so I have to wait for the proper segue. The other two cats are not Special Needs, so I guess that means they don't get discussed that often?

@MrsSinner402 you feed that baby any way you can and don't feel bad about it. I didn't bf DS very long and people comment all the time how much he clearly loves his momma. You will bond with your child, it will be okay, and your sanity will be saved.  Don't let anyone make you feel bad.

@Crawford411 FX that that baby falls out soon!

@savegek7 Please have your baby soon. I feel like no one else should be allowed to have a baby until you do.

@Jennifer18131 I am sending you labor vibes. Have that baby before the wedding and that solves all the hair problems. I know that in theory a low bun is easy to accomplish, but no matter how many times I try to do it myself I fail. So I feel your pain.

@golfingdarwinfish Did you get pumpkin pie at Costco? Cause I still regret not buying it almost a week ago.  Enjoy all those pastries, they are the best part of Costco.

@SPurp13 Lola is beautiful.  I feel like Butters gets all the love.  Give us more Lola.

I would, but bitch clearly can't even.

For the medical/science nerds on the board, when we adopted Lola, they said she had some diarrhea and it cleared up before we brought her home. She had been adopted or at least once and returned before us. So it soon became clear why. Bitch pooped her pants. She could not make it to the box. And all her poops were liquid. Sometimes, she would start to throw up and poop AT THE SAME TIME. Because we don't believe in giving up on pets, and we knew she would be put down if we took her back to the shelter, we saw a vet many, many times, tried so many foods and supplements... all while she had around one accident a week (so it did lessen with time).

    Here comes science.

My vet finally suggested a fecal transplant last February. They took healthy poop from their resident cat and gave it to her via enema. By the way, they do this with humans (this is the CDIFF strain earlier discussed). It took about 2 months, but she rarely has any accidents anymore. I think the last time was july. Her poor little poops still aren't solid, but she can control herself now. That was our last option before pouring her on steroids, which would have shortened her life, and she will only be two in November, so we really didn't like that option for such a young cat.

    So. Anyway. That's Lola's story. You're welcome.

Listen, I've been feeling like maybe I'm leaking for at least 3 weeks. That's impossible, and I have to be wrong, right? I am so bad at being pregnant.

In either case, go lay down on your left side for 30 minutes and report back. Isn't that what you are supposed to do? See? I have no idea.

I don't know either. When I was pregnant with Layla it gushed out like a popped water balloon. Also, I've yet to pee myself with either of my pregnancies so I have no idea if that's what's happening here. Only my friends in the computer know about this for now. ;)

Haha, thanks! That used to be a fireplace, and where that was, is where a wall used to be separating the kitchen and dining room. We knocked it out and redid everything. It finally was finished in March this year (we started around THANKSGIVING last year). It took FOUR MONTHS. I was going BSC and I don't even cook.

  • So... I think we've decided to exclusively pump. DD can latch on alright most of the time, but when she does, it hurts me a lot. Especially when she clamps down to let me know she's done. I feel so sad that it isn't working out. But I know it's not her fault or mine. And I catch myself getting frustrated when she's on the boob because it hurts me so bad, and I refuse to be frustrated with her over something like that. It breaks my heart. :( I know that EP'ing is a lot of work, but I feel like my situation is ideal to do so. I'm off work for 6 months, so I will be spending 99.999% of my time here at home with DD. Feeding her, changing her, burping her, getting her back to sleep, then pumping - repeat. If I were going back to work, then EP'ing would be really difficult. If I need to supplement with formula from time to time I'm going to. Formula is not a poison. Pumping still hurts a bit but I'm getting used to it. The place it hurts worst is right above my nipple on the shield. Like, the outer/upper edge of the areola. Its a bit pinchy feeling. But at least my actual nips don't hurt quite as bad anymore. Tell me I can do this? That yes, it'll be hard, but I'll be alright at it? I'm just sad that I can't whip out my boob and feed LO like I had originally planned. I guess I'll just have to find other ways to bond with her.  :-<

I'm going through this, too, with my baby and her pinching when I nurse. Was your baby ever evaluated for a tongue tie? Chloe had one that needed to get clipped because it kept her tongue rooted to the floor of her mouth and it pinched my nipples when she nursed (no matter how good the latch). Now it's a 100x better but her mouth is still tight. We are seeing a craniosacral therapist to fix it.
