  • @SPurp13‌ I think her gift to the bridal party is the makeup. I'd be paying do the hair, which is fine by me. It's nice to be pampered for something special like that. Bride just emailed me back saying she's waiting to see what the stylists say about fitting me in and if not "I'm sure with all the girls around we can get your hair fixed." Uggggghhhhhhhh

Yeah, you're a better person than I, because I would not be cool with that.

But, then again, I think a gift should like, be a gift. Not something to be used in the wedding. I got all my girls different things. Like, one got a gift card for Toms. One got a gift card for a spa. One got a gift card for Sundance. One got a subscription for Birchbox. And I also think that if I required something special for them to wear, I would have paid for it.

I am with you. I hate when brides require makeup or hair to be done a certain way. When I got married, I just asked that my bridesmaids not choose my exact same hair style. Outside of that, how they wanted to wear their hair and makeup was what made them comfortable.

I was supposed to be in a wedding 5 days after my due date. Obviously that wasn't going to work, so I stepped down...but does it make me a bad friend that I was pretty happy I didn't have to deal with all of the little annoyances with being a bridesmaid? I am kind of over the wedding scene at

During pregnancy, I washed my hair 2 times a week TOPS. It was extra dry all the time (plus, I didn't wash it more than 3x a week before that anyway).

Now, I feel the need to wash it every single day, just in case Labor Happens. I want clean hair. I even straightened it yesterday...just in case.
I just scheduled an appointment with my hairdresser for Friday afternoon, so it'll be done before my induction Saturday (if I do it).  She relaxes and straightens it, which means I won't have to wash it for a good 4-5 days.  Can't think of a better baby gift for myself in case I do decide to induce Saturday!

ETA. I said induction tomorrow, ha. Wishful thinking.
    @crawford411

This is a fantastic idea!!!  I never thought of scheduling a blow out right before induction.

How are you feeling about induction?  (or did you discuss that somewhere else and I totally missed it?

  • @Jennifer18131 The low bun is my go-to hairstyle and I used to do it for all of my dance team members every week.  I have perfected the low bun.  Anyone can do it.

Easy instructions:  Side part hair right after washing.  Comb out.  Put a little mousse on your hands and run it through your hair.  Put in low pony tail while wet. Twist hair as you wrap it around the pony tail. Hold it with non-dominate hand.  Secure with second hair tie using dominate hand.  Tuck in any stray pieces with bobby pins.  Spray the shit out of it with hairspray!

Boom. Done. You got this. And you will not look bad in the purple dress. You will look awesome.
This is true. It's not difficult. But I have layers in my hair, so I'd have a million pieces to secure, I think. I have, though, used one of those "sock bun" cheater things. No shame.

  • I just got back from costco, and I went without a plan, unlike @pnwlover12, which means that I spent way too much money on baked goods that will certainly expire before anyone has the opportunity to consume them.

I should not have gone to costco unsupervised.

Oh, then I went to Target and bought 50 containers of Fage.  To add to the 30 or so in the fridge.

I nest in muffins, greek yogurt, and paper products.
You are awesome GDF. Too bad you live across the country from me, we could totally do costco trips together and then stuff ourselves full of baked goods afterwards. That sounds like a delightful day to me.

Thanks! But I think you're overestimating my hair ability ;) I'll try it tomorrow to see if I can get it to work.

@MrsSinner402‌ What PP said about the gel soothies. I keep mine in the freezer before using them. They are a God send.

Also, lanolin cream is my best friend.

  • Weight check results: zero change from 2 days ago. Maybe half an ounce transferred in feeding.
I feel like she is nursing really well and my milk seems to be in, but no gain in 2 days is discouraging to me. Pedi thinks it is ok and to just keep up what we are doing. Next check in a week.

Keep up the good work! FX for weight gain!!!

  • @Jennifer18131  As an AD military member, believe me, the sock bun is your friend. And it's so EASY. Not to mention DH's reaction when he finds out you used one of his socks to do it...

  • OMFG I've truly seen it all now.  A friend of mine who lives in a house they bought for over a million dollars, and who is frequently on vacation, just started a Gofundme page for a relatively minor personal expense.

I want to TP the person who came up with crowdfunding sites now.
    How annoying! People are ridiculous.

  • Ok, I have a random for you ladies. I've found that I get oddly stressed come nighttime. With this baby coming any minute now, for some reason I've been getting nervous at the idea of going into labor in the middle of the night (like I have any choice). Something about driving to the hospital in the middle of the night stresses me out. Maybe it's about being ripped out of my comfort zone at an uncomfortable hour only to have to go to an even more uncomfortable place in the darkness of the night. Ehhh, who knows.

Alright, there's my piece for the day.
