  • I'm sad I can't use my grandmother's name. With my last name it becomes a homage to someone else entirely. It would be like naming your kid Anne when your last name is Frank.

Samuel is my all time favorite boys name. We already have a Sam in the family so we didn't use it.
    :((

Elizabeth is my girl name. A boy would probably be Graham.

DD's name would have been Samuel.

  • I like Nathan, Jameson and Jacob for boys names. H likes none of these. I like Lily and Ava for girls names but I dont think they would "go" with the girls names I'm already using (Ella and Amelia)

  • Another trend I've seen with name spellings.... any name with "ana/anna" in it, getting an "h" thrown in.

    Briahna

    Liliahnna

Can someone please explain?  It makes my eyeballs itch.

  • Graham was my top boy name choice.

I really wanted Piper's middle name to be Eleanor, but H shot it down.

I also almost wanted to name her Tallulah, that was shot down as well. I love the "old lady" names.

  • I feel bad for whining about my day. DH is having a really shitty time right now. I need to figure out something to make him smile.

  • oooh! I missed name discussions. Great stuff.

MH's rule was that a girl's name had to look good on a business card. He felt that coworkers were not taken as seriously in part because of what he thought were "diminutive" names. Luckily, I always liked the surname trend in girl names, so we found common ground. But I managed to add in two literary references that mean something to me, so I was pleased.

The name I loved that we never used was Wren. I love it as a FN or MN.
Same, except with resumes.  It's why we rejected Maisie, even though I think that name is completely adorable.

  • I love the nn of Charlie fir Charlotte. DH hates it so that is why he wants to veto Charlotte. Also, I never liked Gilmore Girls.

We had to reject Charlotte because it's awful with our last name, but I love the name.  Alice too!

MH wanted G's middle name to be Fox. Yes, Fox. I told him that was a male stripper name. He vetoed my maiden name as a middle name since he doesn't think surnames work for first or middle names. But naming your kid after a woodland creature is completely acceptable.

Fox Mulder, though! He was a respected FBI agent!

  • I don't have to wonder what people think of my name. They straight up tell me everyday. My favorite is "oh... That's interesting"
