Haunted Houses

Ok, this is sort of random, but with Halloween coming up, I mentioned to DH that we should go to one of the haunted houses in our area.  As soon as I started looking at them though, I remembered the feeling of going through them, that surge of adrenaline when a scare pops up, and the constant state of hyperawareness.
Now, knowing that stress can be bad for a baby in utero, what are your thoughts on haunted houses while pregnant?

Yes it is sort of silly, but I am curious!

Re: Haunted Houses

  • I will not be going. I don't think the stress and changing center of balance would be good.

  • I've never been a fan, pregnant or not, so I don't go to Haunted Houses. However, I really don't see how it could be bad for you or baby. I suppose it depends how much movement is involved - like a bumpy hayride probably wouldn't be good for you, but if it was just walking I think it might be OK. I think it depends on the type of Haunted House.
  • I'm talking to my dr on Thursday about this very thing!! Halloween is one of my fav times and I am not sure if it would be ok or not! Even the baby rides at Disneyland! Will let you know what she says.
  • I would go. I doubt a few scares would do anything... then again, I have a stressful job in the news business and visit murder scenes, stand-offs and hostage situations.. so a haunted house wouldn't scare me so much.

  • If it were me? Big no. I am so accident prone, I'd probably fall over if someone jumped out at me. lol

But if you're an adrenaline junky who likes that sort of thing, seems like it would be okay. I'd check with your doc and see what s/he says!

  • I spent 5 hours going through 5 attractions, four of them twice, last Saturday and had a great time! I love that stuff though and wasn't ever really scared. If I was farther along I might hold off, afraid of falling or being bumped into, but the baby is the size of like a pea and pretty well protected in there. If you are concerned though definitely ask your doctor. I'm planning a trip to Disney in December and I'll be asking his opinion on what I can and can't do there.
  • Yeah, I think I will go.  I wasn't majorly concerned about it, just curious as to what others were thinking.  I loooove stuff like this, can't wait!
