@syllessa no advice, but I hope you feel better soon!

So I'm drinking my first cup of red raspberry leaf tea. And it tastes terrible. Anyone have suggestions for making me like it? lol...I'm not much of a tea drinker, but I do like earl grey. This is NOT earl grey. :P

Hoping the tea and some evening primrose oil will be a good start toward having this baby before his due date. Next week, stripping membranes (maybe. I might chicken out - does this hurt?!) and getting the chiropractor to try some acupressure. I really don't want to be induced! :)

My OB stripped my membranes yesterday and it HURT!! So far I've just having some cramping, a few contractions, and lots of pressure. Hoping labor is imminent.

How dilated were you? I've heard from friends that if you're 2+cm, it doesn't really hurt, but if you're less than 2cm, it hurts a lot.

  • Has anyone used the Earth Angel Baby Bottom spray? It's supposed to be a natural version of Dermoplast, which I wasn't really a fan of.

@Emerald27‌ Add honey to the tea, makes it better! And re stripping membranes, I haven't had it done but my OB said it's painful, and that they only do it if the patient asks (and are dilated at least past 1), because they find that it only leads to cramping and bleeding, and doesn't really help speed up labor. :/

Sounds fun, right? I can't decide if it's worth it. Lol

A friend went into labor the evening after she had her membranes stripped, but she was already 4cm and was 41 weeks. I've heard that all of my natural induction methods only "work" if your body and baby are ready...so I'm hesitant to have the sweep at 38+3. Debating asking them to do it Thurs or Fri (38+6 or 39) when I go in for my 2nd weekly AFI/NST/BPP.

  • We went toCostco tonight. We now have enough toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, fabric softener, meat, cheese, and many other things to last until the New Year. What we don't have is pumpkin pie. I saw the pie, picked it up, smelled it, and decided it was too big and we would never eat it all. WTF me?? Bad, bad, bad decision making. Now all I want is pumpkin pie. :((

You are fucking crazy! I could eat that all by myself in a day or two.

Thanks for making me feel better about my terrible decision. I am trying to convince H to go back tomorrow for pie.

Haha. Sorry. Pumpkin pie sounds delish right now, so I may have been a bit over-zealous with my reply.

Lady's, can I get some Ts and Ps for my brother? He had a seizure at work today and hit his head on concrete as he fell and until the seizure was over. He's at the hospital with my mom. Neither one of them has cell service and I'm 1000 miles away. :(

Also, my H doesn't have phone service at his location for work right now (in the Gulf off the coast of Mexico). I'm convinced labor is imminent because of all of this.

@golfingdarwinfish shave! What if labour is imminent?! ;-)

I think labor becomes imminent if you shave.  It's like the highest level of nesting possible: nesting your own body.
Only if your shaving your vajay, that would be a damn miracle right now and extreme dedication. It would be like the olympics of shaving.
I really haven't had any issues shaving. I can't see whats going on so I am sure I have missed spots around my bikini line but I have been tending that area for so long that I can do it without seeing it.

I thought this also... I've been doing it for ages, I don't need to see it! So... shaved one morning and when DH joined me in the shower he sat down for a minute. When he looked up he said "Oh My God!!! Did you try to shave!?!" (Yes, that many exclamation points.) Apparently it didn't look anywhere near as good as I thought it did...

This is why I've given up and decided to just go natural for L&D. I know the nurses/midwives have seen it all. Not like we're going to be best friends. Far better IMO to look natural than obviously bad attempt at shaving. :P

  • Lol Emerald who are you right now? Your posts are throwing me for a loop!

But in other news, I just made a pitcher of peach red raspberry leaf tea, and I'll be popping some primrose in the hot pocket tonight.

    I am really not myself the last few days. I swear, I'm losing it! Lol This rushing of baby combined with DH's broken ankle is making me batty, and I'm simultaneously not caring about much at the moment and freaking out about everything. 8-}

My MW says to just take the primrose oil orally. I forgot to ask why she didn't recommend it vaginally, because I know a lot of moms do that. Peach red raspberry leaf tea sounds good! I really am not a fan of the regular tea.

  • I'm a little late (as usual), but my belly is numb. Yep, numb, right around my belly button. It's an incredibly uncomfortable sensation. Oh, but don't worry, doc says it's normal and should only take 3-4 months postpartum to go back to normal.

@apk4 I'm so sorry that is really scary. Sending positive thoughts your way.

Today was my last day of work until mid Jan. On Monday I felt as if I would never make it through this week. Last weekend before baby comes. Life as I know it is about to really change. Gonna spend some quality date time with DH and finish last minute cleaning before Tuesday. Can't wait to see this little girl!

  • I think I might take some orally in the mornings and still stuff myself with capsules at night...

I'm curious about the oral route rec from your MW @Emerald27‌

  • It's pissing me off that all the movies I just bought are airing on cable tv.

Thank you! I'm eating Oreos and milk to calm my nerves.
  • @apk4 - sending positive thoughts for your brother!

With regard to shaving, I'm much more likely to shave my lady friend than I am to shave my legs in terms of labor prep/grooming.  My legs won't be the star of the show.  Then again, even if I didn't, I KNOW OBs see a lot of graphic, horrific shit and I'm sure mine won't be among the worst of it.  So I'm content either way.
Oh yeah I totally don't give two cents about how my lady bits look for the doctor. I honestly just get uncomfortable personally (like itchy and just don't feel as clean) when I let things get too wild and crazy down there! I figure it's going to be a while before I feel like tending the lady plume after I push a baby out so for my own comfort I would prefer she be freshly groomed before delivery!

  • That's pretty much my attitude. If I go in with it nice and tidy, by the time all hell breaks loose down there I'll be in a position to tend to it again....

Totally my reasoning.  I want to at least pretend that I'm fresh and clean, even if I'm actually pretty gross.

Just accidentally dropped my knee pillow onto the floor, crashing into my bedside table which hit the wall loudly...the shared wall between our room and DS'. Thankfully, he slept through it. Made DH and I really jump!

And since then I've had 3 contractions (I think). Pain comes on strong, feels like a mixture of gas pain and menstrual cramp, lasts for 30 seconds or so and then fades. That's a contraction, right? :P Anyway, can't decide whether I want this to turn into something or I want to go back to sleep...

ETA: Tried to go downstairs to sit on the ball for a while (these suckers hurt and are every 5 minutes!) but as I crept past DS' room he woke up and cried for me. So now I'm laying in his bed, trying to decide whether it's worth waking DH to tend to DS or if I'm just making all this contraction stuff up in my head. I mean, what if I just need to poop? No need to make my family lose sleep over that. Ugh!

    @Emerald27‌ so was it labor?
