Friday Randomness

It is officially Friday, I know I'm not the only one awake and lurking around and some of you around the world are like, uh yea it's halfway to Saturday already!

  • I am awake! Between the 7-8 times I have been up to use the bathroom and the waterfall of rain that just started outside my window I doubt I will be getting much more sleep tonight. I see a nap in my future...

I could use a light rain shower in my life!
  • Crawford411 - I wouldn't worry about your mil (easier said than done) just focus on what you need to take care of your LO. Especially in those first few weeks!

Wasn't planning to be up so early but DS had other ideas. Just wish it wasn't today of all days because I have to be ready and coherent enough to get myself ready to attend a wedding.

It's 2 hours away so hopefully this baby doesn't decide to make a grand early entrance!

After work, I'm planning to have a conversation with MIL about her not staying in our house overnight for the first 10 days.  She's welcome to come to town and stay with my parents for a night or I am even willing to put her up in a hotel.  She is the kind of person who will just sit and stare at me all day expecting me to entertain her.  I can't do all that while also trying to recover and learn to breastfeed.  Plus, if she stays with us, she'll want to bring her dogs, which is absolutely NOT happening.  I can already tell you that she's going to throw a huge fit and cry about how she's never going to see her granddaughter, then start posting awkward angry rants all over FB about how tortured she is.  I would just let DH deal with it, but he's not great at standing up to his mom since he gets so annoyed that he just ends the conversation without resolving anything.

I'm emotionally exhausted and the day hasn't even started yet.

I am sorry you have to deal with your MIL. I am really nervous for our Inlaws to come visit, too. They come stay for the weekend every once in a while and just them being here Friday night-Sunday morning is exhausting for me. They are going to come stay with us the Thursday after we get out of the hospital through Sunday once our LO arrives. It's hard because I want to find the right balance of them being involved with LO but still keeping my sanity.

They are nice people, and I know will help us out and not expect to be entertained, but it is still exhausting to have guests in your home while trying to adjust to such a big change in your life plus heal from delivery.

Im up.. getting ready for my third to last 12 hour shift at work (woohoo!!) And thinking about stopping at meijer for a frosted cookie (also woohoo!!).. have a lovely friday lady's- cant wait to see how many babies make their appearance today!! :)
  • Ok I have a random question that maybe our more experienced BFing ladies can help with. It is kind of weird ...

So my right nipple is small and round, I guess what I would consider to be normal looking? But my left is tall and skinny, not round at all. Maybe like an inch and a half tall. I feel like it is huge!

I never succesdfully BF DD for a number of reasons, and really just gave up, although this really had almost nothing to do with me quitting. But It seemed like DD never could latch well because it was so big. She could barely get it in her mouth. She was a tiny baby, getting down to 6 lbs after her jaundice so I dont know if a bigger baby could have handled it better.

I mentioned it to our pedi at the time (who was some sort of certified LC, but a little too far out there for me. She wanted us to pump and feed DD out of teeny tiny little CUP so my nipples could heal. :-/ ) anyway, she said to have the baby feed at different angles and then this would help my nipple become more round. I never tried this because it seemed too weird and by this point I was starting to not care about trying to BF anymore. I eventually EPed.

Anyone have any thoughts or advice for this time? I really want to BF but will this be a problem for me? Would my crazy pedi's advice actually have worked?

Sorry so long and for any typos. My phone is making my typing all slow and delayed.
  • Still pregnant and still annoyed from yesterday.

    My attitude sucks.
  • I dreamt last night that this little girl ended up being a little boy. DH was not amused when I told him this morning though luckily we do still have clothes from the boys.

Also started freaking out a little about trying to breast feed again. DS couldn't latch on but I think it was due to his tiny size and well probably being intimidated by the size of my boobs. ;)
  • I slept terrible last night, maybe 4 hours of sleep total. I've got to work tonight which means I won't be back in bed for 25 hours. I'm desperately hoping DS takes a good nap so that I can maybe get an hour or two of sleep before work.

  • I'm in a ton of pain right now and it's radiating from the right side of my bump. It feels like really deep pulling; it's also extremely hard, but I know LO is over there so that could be from him. I have a NST and BPP this morning, but I'm considering throwing my hospital bag in the trunk incase it's actually my placenta that's acting up.

  • @crawford411‌ that does sound mentally exhausting. I hope she takes it well. @golfingdarwinfish‌ I'd say hospital bag in the car sounds like a good plan. @knittymeggy‌ nooooooo!!!!! Happy Due Date to me! As of yesterday I'm a fingertip dilated. I got for an NST tomorrow, and have tentative appointments for a clinic visit next Thursday, BPP next Friday and then induction on the following Monday, aka, Canadian Thanksgiving. I really hope I don't need those appointment.

I'm sitting in the waiting room for my NST and some notch has McDonalds. I'm super jealous.

It's not McDonalds, but you can always ask the nurses for some juice during your NST. I skipped breakfast before my last appt and they wanted me to drink some juice to wake baby up. ;)

  • @golfingdarwinfish keep us updated! hope all is ok and just baby being silly!

DD has to get her tongue tie reversed next week...I am glad that the LC, pedi and maxofacial surgeon all think it's necessary even though the tie is not classed as 'severe'...but why is the soonest appointment a week away?! I feel sad for my baby, and my nipples, that this is going to take some time to get fixed...
    :-S
Ugh! I am so sorry! :( DS is tongue and lip tied, and I didn't find out until he was over a year old. We had a very painful/traumatic start to breastfeeding, and no one ever looked in his mouth to figure out the cause of our trouble - the LCs just told me his latch was shallow. Well duh! Now we're having to have them revised as a 3yr old because of dental/oral issues they've caused.

Was the LC able to recommend some positioning tips to help get you through until the revision appt?

Yes, we've got some things to try and the appointment is probably on Weds (maybe Thurs) so only a few days...but I know at 3am it's going to seem like ages until the actual appt day! (I think I can I think I can I think I can, is going to have to be my new mantra for the next few days!)

    ----------
I already told DH that as soon as this baby is born, first thing after "hello, baby" will be to look in his mouth for ties, and to have DH call the dentist to make us a revision appt before even alerting family to the new arrival. Only half-joking... The pain is no picnic.

((Hugs)) Hang in there. You can do it!

  • I went to bed after ranting about my mother, but I wanted everyone to know I appreciate everyone's thoughts as usual! I didn't want to bump the thread for that. I'm trying to get caught up.

And, @MissMandyD, you KNOW it's in my birth plan that my husband is the ONLY one in the room with me, and ANY other visitors at ANY time must be cleared with me. Period.

@knittymeggy, the Jailspitol is Wheeling Hospital. (WV) I've shared enough personal information on this site for anyone to stalk me. I don't care if that happens. Come on over. I mean, people can look up where I'm from on the FB page anyway.

  • @spurp13 I don't want to stalk you lol I was just curious how far away jailspitol was from me. I only go to wheeling for gambling lol
I've actually never been over there to that casino (well once I had to go in to pee while we were at a football game on the island). I'm from an hour north of Wheeling originally, and I worked for 4 summers in college at  Mountaineer Race Track.

I know there are a few lady's on the board from Pittsburgh. I forget who, though. If you're familiar with the skyline, my husband works in the big pointy building.

  • @sngsoprano1‌ Happy birthday! Mine is tomorrow. <:-P

@golfingdarwinfish‌ T&P's to you! FX everything is okay.

Congrats again @theresat858! Hope you get a nurse in there to help you out soon. And you're sweet for not waking your DH! Not sure I'd be that thoughtful if I were in your position. :))

So what was the final count of babies born yesterday? I voted 3 in the clickii pole.
