I would love to start some kind of foundation that provides grants to families dealing with this sort of bullshit. I would have no idea where to start though. Surly there something like that out there already?
@mystererae I guess I've never felt that we are in a bad enough situation to want that kind of thing. I would love to do something like that if it could benefit us and a bunch of other families like I was saying ^^, but that would take tons of money.
@jennipalmer could you PM me with details? I'm not sure I completely know the difference, or where to start with that.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
>:D< @gutsymama I'm really sorry. We have gone through much smaller insurance idioticy and I most recent time I was thinking of you as I went around in circles. >:D<
Oh, and since he's not drinking WCM anymore (strict orders for Pediasure Peptide *only*, no other fluids) and we were away for almost 2 weeks, I have 1.5 gallons of WCM in the fridge that need to be used in the next 24 hours or so.
I'm already planning on ice cream and maybe some mac 'n' cheese made with the noodles boiled in milk - any other suggestions?

@gutsymama my DH has Medicaid due to a disability and it's only based on his income. For children it's based on the individual, not their parent's income (at least that's how they do it where we live). He gets over 80 hours of attendant care a week. I'll PM you the details I know when I have a minute.
For some reason I thought about them yesterday and I really wanted to play them. I found a few places where I can play some online, but my MacBook is being poop and says my security settings won't authorize the site even though I've changed the settings.
@gutsymama I'm sorry for all the suck you are dealing with. If I lived closer I'd totally become your RN Mary Poppins I hope you guys catch a break soon. >:D<
My kid chose broccoli for dinner. Like willingly ate it. I didn't have to smother it with cheese or hide it in eggs or a smoothie. And between each bite he leaned over to give me a kiss.
Tomorrow is picture day for LO at daycare. I got seriously way too excited about picking his outfit. I think I need help.
I ordered a dress off zulily and it came today. It fits perfectly. I'm shocked. I just need some black tights and I can wear it to work! I've always been afraid to order clothes for me online before.
eTA: F Off bump for eating my paragraphs!
Broccoli is one of the only things I can get Maggie to eat. Tonight, no pasta, no chicken, but ALL the broccoli.
@gutsymama I'm super sorry about everything...you should be only thinking about L, and what he needs to be happy and as comfy as possible, not administrative red tape bs.

I know the stories from Houston about Ebola are getting more press, but the stories out of Sierra Leone are just heart wrenching. I cried reading about preschool kids being left to die and completely overwhelmed health workers.
We should be able to do better than this by our kids, whether super Luke or in W Africa.
@gutsymama, I'm so sorry! Eff the whole stupid insurance world. Eff them!
What insurance would work with this daycare?
@Stina2012 Apparently only certain forms of Medicaid insurance will cover it, and our income is well over the limit for those types. She told me pretty much all private insurances will deny it.

This. She ate all the broccoli. 4rhs and 5ths. Pasta - eh. She also loves cauliflower and brussel sprouts.

Seriously. Babies should always be cared for. No matter the money situation.
Dh and I just had this funny convo.... Dh is in bed already and he's got a pillow over his eyes, I go into the bathroom and brush my teeth and while doing so I look over and dh is waving at me (eyes still covered).
Me: what are you doing?
Dh: I can feel you looking at me. I have msp.
Me: you have what??
Dh: Msp.
Me: *laughing* it's esp. Extrasensory perception. What did you think msp stood for?
Dh (totally dead serious): magical super powers.
Me: *dying laughing*
