TTC After a Loss

~~TTCAL Newbie check in 9/23/14~~

**Hi Ladies! Starting this week, I will be taking over for KT. I’m happy to be your new check in leader! I hope you’ll have me, and I look forward to getting to know you a little better. Feel free to PM me anytime about anything! I would love to hear from you :D Also, forgive me if my check-ins are out of date! I'm trying to play catch up with you all as I haven't been an active member of this board for about a month :D **

Welcome to TTC After Loss. I'm so sorry for your loss but am happy you have found us. ((hugs)) This board is full of brilliant and kind women who have experienced the hardship of losing that which is most precious, and I hope you find great comfort and support here in your journey!

For those of you so new that you don't know the routine, this is a check-in for newer members of the TTCAL Board. Please feel free to use this space to ask those "newbie" questions that feel intimidating to ask on the main board and I will try my best to get you an answer.

**Please don't feel that you have to provide individual feedback to all of the posters ahead of you. Many do and it's great, but it's most definitely not required to be a part of this check-in. I'd just hate to think people might feel intimidated and not post because of this. All posts and responses are welcomed!**

Please take the time to read the TTCAL blog to answer any questions you may have regarding our board etiquette, TTC, miscarriage & loss, and much more: https://ttcalblog.wordpress.com/ If you are a check-in regular and get a BFP, please PM me so that I can add it to the weekly check-in with a warning for other members. If I don't get a PM, I will not mention your BFP on the check-in.

Finally, if you haven't done so, please post your introduction on the main board including your story.

Weekly Update:  How are you doing?  Post an update including any news, thoughts, or questions - let me know how things are going for you! If you don’t see your name, it’s only because you didn’t check in last week. Feel free to join in this week!

Individual Updates:

@negritosmami How’s the 2ww going? Any testing plans?

@leloyd- Looks like you haven’t posted since you had your betas done again. What were your numbers? Any news on seeing an RE?

@LDubHawksFan- So glad you were able to get your CD3 bw done! Are you on vacation, or business “vacation”? Fx all your bw comes back great!

@petitchou1019- How are you feeling this week?

@Cheetara2- Are you still in the 2ww? I don’t know how far you were into it during the last newb check in.

@natalie115- Have you started poasOPK yet? I hope your cycle regulates itself this round!

@jms627 - I read that you got your first post-m/c AF! yay! How was your 5k?

@Pickles4Prez - I’m glad you got AF! Finally she does something right;) Did you get everything sorted out with your hospital bills/ FIL being the advocate for you? Also, I love the scarf you made!

@readinglove- I hope you’re feeling better from your Friday TP. You’ve been on my mind! ((Hugs)) When is FW? Also, do you have a link to your chart?

@PowerOfBacon - How’s the temping going? Do you feel like you’re getting to know your body again? I’m glad you were able to get your dogs surgery scheduled, and I hope it goes well.

@mkfish31- I have a very good friend that is a PA. We used to joke all the time about her working in the ER, so I loved your ecard in the wednesday TP thread! How are you this week? How was your FW?

@MBJune- Didn’t see an update from you last week. How did your IUI go?

@ctk181 - Any decision on the OB yet? What else is new this week?

@matiekae- Is your FW upon you yet? Try not to stress about the short-ish LP. Cycles after loss can potentially be uber crazy!

@belle0720 - I really like the furniture you’ve done so far. I hope you’re able to make some money off of it!

@26summer - Welcome to the check-in. I’m so glad to see that your D&C went well (but sorry you even had to have one!). How was your brothers wedding this weekend? Are you a baker? I read that you were finishing a grooms cake.

@SWMcFarland- Welcome to the check-in. I also had an ectopic, and MTX shot. One dose was enough, and my hcg went to 1 within 2 weeks. It was never higher than 277. I hope you’re feeling okay.

@stinybean- Of course we will take you back! How are you feeling? You had an IUI on Friday, so when are your betas scheduled?

QOTW - What is your all time favorite movie? Bonus points for memes, photos, or gifs!

  • @rslh - Thanks for the check-in! FX for you!

AFM, I have an apt with a new OB on 10/13 for a pre-conception consultation. AF came on Saturday, so I have one cycle of the 2 cycle wait out of the way. We will be able to TTC after this next cycle. So hopefully I like this doctor and we will be good to go at the end of next month. Does anyone know how to link my FF chart in my sig? I keep trying and I can't get it to work!

QOTW - My favorite movie of all time is a hard choice. I think I have to separate them by genre, because my favorite comedy is Old School and my favorite drama is Good Fellas.image

  • Hi @rslh10‌ ! Thanks for the check in! I just have a quick question. I have been using the First Response OPK's for almost a year but I just switched to Wondfo OPKs. Last cycle the Wondfo's never gave me a positive but FF said I ovulated, according to my temp. Basically I just want confirmation that I'm not crazy. This is negative, not quite positive, right? This is the result I got right up until the day I ovulated last cycle. I'm just confused why I O'ed but never got a +OPK.

  • Hi Ladies!

CD12 here. I was going to start OPKs this morning but I guess I was too tired to remember this morning. Pretty sure I won't O until next week but I just want to have as much sex as possible until I get a +OPK.  Other than that, between our kitchen renovation and refurbishing furniture we are staying really busy. The kitchen already is looking awesome with the perimeter cabinets in and our new appliances are coming on Friday! I can't remember what I posted about our furniture *business* last week but we sold an ottoman on Etsy last week and the buyer already let me know that she got it and loved it! We also had another buyer request a custom order to look like that ottoman so we very luckily found a free ottoman in a similar style and have started working on it!

QOTW: I'm also going to have encompass the Harry Potter series as my favorite movie. There's no other movie world that I'd rather live in!(unless we're talking about a movie where Ben, Leo, Paul, or Ryan are romancing the hell out of me :x ) I NEED to plan a trip to the Wizarding World.

    Hi Lady,
I'm sorry if I missed you in the check in. I will add you for next week! As for the OPK, yes I would count that as negative. What cycle day are you? If you're close to your normal O date (and you feel like it) I would start testing 2x a day. Sometimes I catch my LH surge in the evening when I've had a negative that morning. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Soon you will be able to pee on all things! I agree with you that the Hobbit movies are amazing. My H is still trying to get me to watch all of the LOTR back to back...I just don't know if I can do it! :D I'm going to need a full weekend for that!

  • Hi @rslh10‌!!! Thanks for the checkin!! I'll miss @ktlovess‌ though too!! Good luck with your trigger!!!!!! I was able to get my BW done on CD2 while on vacation. It was just a quick weekend trip for a wedding. I couldn't believe how expensive even the copay was! Reality of how expensive this could be.... Maybe it's a good thing that my dr wants us to try on our own for a few more months before the bigger costs start coming! So now I just wait to o and hump a lot! Ha And then get my 7 dpo draw. QOTW: I really love 10 things I hate about you and a handful of other cheesy chick flicks!
TTC is so expensive! OPKS, Hpts, if you're on any meds, triggers, the prenatals, etc etc! Then add in the co-pays and it's just crazy what a cycle can cost! Sorry it was so expensive for you, and I hope that you had a great time at the wedding! I will be chart stalking you here soon! :) 10 things I hate about you is one of my favorite chick flicks too. Can you believe that movie is from 1999? Makes me feel so old.

  • @rslh10 Thanks for taking over! I hope everything works out and you have a great day!

@ctk181 That's so awesome that you only have to wait one more cycle. I hope you like the new OB!

As for me..its been one week since I had my D&C and I'm feeling pretty good. Emotionally, I finally feel unstuck in my grief. Still shaking my head that it took 12 weeks to get a D&C. I did get a YI from the damn antibiotics and after calling my OB twice yesterday and once today a prescription is finally being faxed over (apparently). Despite that annoyance, I am so excited to be recovering and hopefully trying next cycle! I'm trying to plan our 1 year anniversary getaway around when I may O but that's pretty much impossible because who knows when my first AF will really come. I guess we'll have to just do a lot of practicing ;)

My favorite movie of all time is T2 (terminator 2). It's not typically the genre of movie I like but it holds a lot of sentimental value and my stomach still flip flops from the suspense.

    image

I always have to watch if "Wanderlust" is on. That movie kills me.

    image

I'm so happy to hear that you're feeling better. I hate that it took so long for you to get that d&c. Man, and a YI? Hopefully you take a while to relax and watch your favorite movies this week. Sounds like it's been a little rough :( I have my fx for a quick AF return! What are your ideas for your anniversary get away?

Oh no worries @rslh10‌ I took a bit of a bump break while we were doing house stuff so you didn't miss me, it's just been a bit since I've posted! Thanks for the advice and the confirmation that I'm not crazy. I'll start testing 2x a day like you and @LDubHawksFan‌ suggested. <:-P yay for AF, and being 1 cycle deep! I'm so glad you have an appt with the OB.  Here is a way to link your chart to your account (thanks @cfearsy and @greeneyes842)

Sharing FF chart when mobile is really easy!
    1. Go to "More" in the top left corner
    2. Click "Share/Email Chart and Data"
    3. Click "Create/Preview Home Page"
    4. Under "Preview Your Home Page:" there's a blue link. Copy and paste that here (or in your case, your signature settings page on the bump!)

There is always tomorrow for OPKS! I really love the stuff you posted last week. I refinish furniture in my spare time. I have about 10 different pieces in my house, and have done about 20. I also worked for and painted for a small boutique for a while. Sold all the pieces I worked on. I really enjoy it, and it takes my mind off things! I hope you get to do this and make some money off of it :) Whats your etsy store? (I don't know if you're allowed to link it here or not? Is it against the rules? @ktlovessl)

Also, I would live in your world too :D LOL!

  • ^^^^this exactly. I test in the am, but always get my first positive when I wait until about 2 pm at work when holding it for awhile. Just a little more awkward to be discrete at work! ;)

Yeah I nanny so privacy is nonexistent haha. I'll make it work! Also am I replying correctly? I've never mobile bumped and it's not looking right to me.

  • @pickles4prez I loved tank girl! I've been saying that we're headed toward a tank girl-like society with our drought! H has never seen it so I was telling him all about it just the other day.

  • Thanks for the check-in, @rslh10‌!

@belle0720 awesome you got a second order off the sale!

Sounds like my FIL is on top of the bills now, hopefully they won't be calling me anytime soon.

I'm so glad your FIL is handling it. When is your trip? How's it looking for FW?

  • @rslh10 That's awesome that you refinish furniture too! What style furniture do you do? I started off wanting to just do shabby chic/Parisian-inspired pieces but now I'm kinda all over the place and just get inspired piece by piece. It's a super fun side job for us and I definitely kept busy with it to help keep my mind off of things when I had my m/c. I started trying to sell our stuff toward the end of July I think. We've sold 6 pieces, just finished a custom upholstery job for my neighbor, and are working on the new ottoman. We have a few pieces sitting waiting to be sold and then a ton of furniture in the garage waiting to be started on. We're keeping all of our earnings in a envelope and I figure we can probably use it for Christmas presents this year!

  • Hey ladies! Thanks for the check in @rslh10‌ . Good luck with the trigger!

I had a positive opk early Monday am. It is still positive today. Hubby and I have had good timing, so I'm more hopeful than last month. I have my first appt with a RE this Thursday morning. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. DH isn't super excited about me going. He wants to try "natural" one more time. I think he and my Obgyn are chalking my two miscarriages up to bad luck. My Obgyn did do multiple blood tests a month ago - all of which came back normal. DH thinks the RE is going to push for ivf. I guess I want to go to see if he has any other thoughts about what might be going on. I want someone to be proactive with me, as I don't feel like my current obgyn is. She kind of sits back and says " well I could put you on progesterone, but it might not work... We"ll just have to see." I read about so many others who get their progesterone checked at certain times and their hcg checked to see if it is doubling properly or coming down properly after their miscarriage. My obgyn did not request any of that. Anyways, who knows what the RE will say. Hoping for the best.

I have 3 more than I've done that are in my house, but I can't find pics of them :) I'll just have to take a few and mobile bump post them later!

ETA: I sand them, paint them, distress them, and then antique glaze them. I finish with a polyurethane coating! :)

I don't blame you one bit for wanting to see an RE. I had the same thoughts towards my OB. I went to the RE appt and he actually said that he thinks my OB was doing too much for me. So, I chose to stick with my OB. I like her, and I feel like if I ask her to do things for me testing-wise, she will. She's young, and current with the infertility area (she herself has unexplained IF). I am on progesterone always in my LP, because why not? My OB says it's just to cover our bases. I would rather be on it, than not. If I test at the designated time, and it's negative, I quit my progesterone, and AF shows within two days. I really really hope that your RE gives you some hope, and doesn't god straight to IVF. Have you had any medicated cycles before? <3 big hugs your way, lady. It's such a rough place to be in.

  • @rslh10, thanks for posting this!

Just from the way I'm feeling and how my chart is looking, I think CD 1 is right around the corner - probably in the next day or two.  Then we can burn the bench!  I mentioned that to MH yesterday, and he was like, we can burn the what?  What are you talking about?   8->

I really have to figure out how to link my chart though, every time I've tried my siggy goes nuts.  Maybe I'll try again at home tonight.

I'm going to be so happy when he has had his surgery.  Poor guy can barely get around right now, and it is heartbreaking to watch.  I'm definitely going to be a lot happier once he is past it, and starting to get mobile again.

I just posted how to mobile link your chart earlier in the check in! I don't know if anyone has told you how to do so yet, but that might help! Also, so funny about your husband. Come on, guy! THE BENCH! you know! lol

Thanks @rslh10 for doing this. I have been sick and also don't know how much time I'll have left to do it once my fellowship starts. Miss you all!

ETA - you ladies are sharing crafty things! I finished this today... it has 250 corks from wine that mostly my husband and I had. Ooops. I swear I'm not an alcoholic so please don't think that :)

Oh that is so crafty! I love it. Is it just to hang on the wall, or will you be putting something else on it? We will miss you too, Lady! But, I think the fellowship is more important ;) I hope you're feeling better. It seems like my household can kick this stinkin cold, so I know the feeling! Get well <3

  • Hi @rslh10! Thanks for taking over the check-in! :) We're lucky to have you, that's for sure. Glad that your follies are looking good - sending you lots of good vibes!

AFM, AF arrived Friday, but it has been the shortest, lightest one I have ever had, which tells me my body is still figuring its shit out. I am feeling better from Friday. :) Hubs came home from work last night, and he was pretty emotional about everything. He cried, we talked about a lot, and realized that we're both having hard days and that we need to share those with each other. Definitely a good talk - productive. He's been doing tons of reading and research, and wants to do something on 10/15.

FW is the end of next week (supposedly). We're both of the mind right now to BD as much as possible from the time AF ends until she starts again. :) I linked my chart in my siggy (finally! I've been meaning to do that for awhile!) - feel free to stalk. Missed my first morning yesterday due to a giant clusterfuck with electricity going out/phone not charging/alarm clock dying resulting in oversleeping. Whoops. Great way to start the week!

Favorite movie? Oh man. I'm the worst at picking favorites.
    image
I love Snow White, 10 Things I Hate About You, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Shakespeare in Love...I could go on!
I am so glad to hear you and your H had a good talk. Those always make me feel better. I'm glad you realize that your body is still sorting itself out. I know with my post mc cycles it was fine the first one, and the second one was all jacked up. I'm glad you linked your chart! I am now off to add you, and stalk you :D

  • Hi Everybody!

This is my first check-in and I look forward to getting to know you all better! I just posted my intro, but my basic background is two back-to-back miscarriages in the last 6 months. I requested bloodwork from my OB/GYN which includes progesterone levels, thyroid, anti-coagulant, and anti-cardio lipin. I am almost certain I O'd on CD 17 and am waiting for the appropriate time to go get the bloodwork. The nurse advised to go between 7-10 days post ovulation. To those of you that have done the progesterone check, do you feel it is better to go right at 7 days, or later?

QOTW: Picking a favorite movie is so hard for me, but the movie that always pops in my mind is The Little Mermaid. It takes me to my happy place. :)

Why does DH think that the RE will push for IVF? I've been going
to my RE since April and he has not once even suggested IVF for me. In fact I did TI every cycle until now, where I upgraded myself to IUI. The RE will run lots of BT and probably give you an U/S this will help determine what the plan should be for you. Also make DH aware that he'll probably have to do a SA. I wish you lots of luck with your appt and if you have any questions feel free to PM me.
