I found it to be more of a pain in the ass than anything else to fill out DD's baby book. I'm so glad it doesn't have space for anything past the one year mark.
That said, I will still do one for DS. I'm the only one of my siblings that has a baby book and I always felt bad about that, so I refuse to do that to my son.
FFFC Toddler Edition: The other day DS was playing in his room while I was doing dishes. I heard him laughing so I sneaked down the hall so I couldpeak in on him to see what he was laughing at. Well he had turned one of his toys on to Spanish mode, and he was pushing buttons and it was speaking Spanish to him. And every time it would talk Spanish, he would crack up laughing.
#1 I totally put a shirt on today with a stain on it, saw it and shrugged. No one knows when I got that stain. It could be in the car on the way to work today, it could be from last week. The fact that I have a toddler makes it more easy to get random stains on the way to work so I use it to the fullest extent!
#2 I complain all the time about my lack of prep time and yet, here I am, posting my FFFC. I get my work done, it just doesn't happen during my prep time...
Since DD hasn't STTN since last December I'm pretty much in zombie mode 24/7. My H works a ton and is never home so all the household duties are on me.
I've been behind on laundry quite a bit lately and in the last two months I've folded up H's dirty socks 5 or 6 times and handed them to him in the morning when he's getting ready for work. I can't believe he hasn't noticed.
I automatically assume if you have fraternal twins, you did fertility treatments. And if you say you didn't, I'm skeptical.
I have no idea why I think that, because I know how stupid it is.
Same here! But I think we assume that because a) we both went through infertility treatments, and b) it is still pretty rare to have twins that weren't a result of treatments so we're just betting on the odds, right??
That's what I'm going with lol.
The chance of dropping 2 eggs at once, both fertilizing, and both implanting are just not high enough for the amount of fraternal twins out there lol.
But like I said, I dont really care how you get your baby, its just something I notice myself doing.

One of the reasons I'm nervous about getting ku again is because twins run in my family. My dad is a twin. His twin has twins. There are others in my family as well. I was 32 when I had g and I've heard the later you start, the higher the chance!
Are the twins in your dad's family fraternal or identical? Only fraternal is hereditary. But you probably know that.
I tend to assume the same thing, @Blueyed228, unless the mom is overweight or older. Dumb, I know.

You should be good... don't twins run on the mom's side ? Hyper ovulation is something that's passed down from your mom. Now identical twins, that's just fluke !
Edit: Never mind I just looked it up... the hyper ovulation gene can also be passed from a father to his daughters

I do this too. But I also live in a state with the highest rate of twin births because fertility treatments are covered by insurance here.
Hi neighbor.
I live near Arlington, which has the highest rate in the state/country. But I'll tell you,its not popular in my twin moms groups to talk about.

That's why they say it skips a generation. I'm in that generation (my aunt and uncle are twins). My DH is a twin (fraternal) so our daughter will have a higher chance too (but not our son).
FFFC - my DH is sweet about chores and says I stay home to take care of the baby and not to clean the house. But, I still feel bad about it a lot and blame my lack of doing some chores on this pregnancy or I exaggerate ds' behavior during the day more than I probably should!
Maybe it's an old wives tale, but "they" (whoever they are) say that twins are hereditary. So if your parents are twins and you are a male, then the hereditary part (hyper ovulation like pp mentioned? I'm not sure) would not apply to you, but to your daughter. Like I said, may be an old wives tale, but that's the saying in my family.
I organized a charity bake sale at work. I wasn't feeling today's offerings so I just bought a blueberry scone from the cafeteria and am sneaking it up to my desk in my purse.

If your parents are twins and you are female you can have twins. Which is why it doesn't "skip". Twins can be hereditary for lots of families, it just doesnt skip. Its just like passing on any other hereditary trait.
I think Tee18 is saying it "skips" generations on the father's side. As a man can't cause his own twins, but he can (sort of) "cause" his twin grandkids.
Its semantics, but a man can't inherit the ability to ovulate 2 eggs since he has no eggs. Which is why it doesn't "skip" him. Because if he has a sister, she can have twins. Since she is of his generation, it didn't "skip" a generation.
But yes. We are all saying the same thing. Sort of.
"The greatest officially recorded number of children born to one mother is 69, to the wife of Feodor Vassilyev (b. 1707–c.1782), a peasant from Shuya, Russia. In 27 confinements she gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, seven sets of triplets and four sets of quadruplets."
I think this lady is the leading authority on multiple birth chances.
But "if" he doesn't have a sister, than it could "skip" a generation.
We are saying the same thing, unless you're saying twins can not be passed on through a man's genes.
No I absolutely know it can be passed down from dad. That used to be the old wives tale I heard floating. "Twins come from dads side".
But the saying" twins skip a generation" is saying an absolute and that is false. It technically could, but not because the gene goes dormant every other generation. You see some families with twins every generation, every other, every third, etc.
My Dad had a set of fraternal twins, as did my cousin ( my dad's nephew). Consecutive generations. No skipping. So now I catching up and seeing that it's all on the Mom? So was it just huge coincidence that they both had fraternal twins?
It looks like they both married women who had the ability to drop 2 eggs. I don't know the statistics on that, but I would say that yeah, sounds like a big coincidence.
However. I have a second cousin who has fraternal twins too. But we both did IVF.
As a kid, I had neighbors with 10 kids in their family (the first 2 births were singletons, and the next 4 births were all twins). Her OB told her she'd probably start having triplets, so she tied her tubes. Therefore, I can believe the Russian lady thing.
My FFFC is that I haven't been brushing LO's teeth regularly. I know most of them will fall out anyway, am busy with the other kids, and always forget.
Not a shocking confession but I too am scared of having twins in the future. (Twin mamas, you guys are my heroes!) My younger sisters are fraternal twins. My parents had 2 girls, tried for one more, and my mom went ahead and dropped 2 eggs that time around for 2 more girls. She was in her mid-30s and no fertility treatments. I will be in my late 30s if/when we TTC again.
Maybe this is a UO/FFFC.... but I never really understood those people who said "well if you have twins then you could be done..." for some reason when I said I wanted two kids, I think in my mind I meant I want two kids of different ages. If I had twins first, I think I would still try for another just because I want to have kids of different ages. Not to say that twins are not two children... Am I weird?

This just happened to my sil. She's due in beginning of year. She will have a 3.5 and 15 mon old. I get overwhelmed thinking about it. My FFFC is I'd have full on panic attack if I had twins the third time around, when we start trying again soon. Having a 3 yo is kicking my ass. I can imagine having twins with a 3 yo to parent all day long.
I admit when I meet fraternal twins I always assume fertility treatments too. This year I have 3 sets of fraternal twins in my classes and one set of identical. That's a lot out of 95 students.
However I shouldn't think that because we have friends who have "natural" fraternal twins. And a guy I used to work with's wife has 3 sets of fraternal twins. No freaking joke. 10 kids all together. Don't get me started.

No, you're not weird. We attract a lot of attention in public and get all sorts of corny comments ("Double trouble!" or "You have your hands full!") I take most of it well. There are only two things that make me want to clobber people. One is if they ask if they're natural, and the other is when they say something like "You're done!" or "Must be nice to have it done in one shot!" Thank you for making that decision for me. What if I wanted three boys? What if I have two other kids at home? Ugggh.
I know having 2 close in age is not the same as having twins but I get the same comments whenever I go out in public. The "wow you have your hands full" and "you must be done because you have a boy and a girl". My parents and in laws are bad about saying those things too. It's really annoying and no I don't feel done thanks.

Honestly, I'd love twins next time and preferably a boy and girl then I'd be done. We want 3 kids, and in my mind, I think I'd like 2 boys and 1 girl ideally because I could reuse all R's baby boy stuff and get to pick out all the cute girly things. I also was not a fan of being pregnant so I'm all about efficiency here.

OMG for your SIL! At least I was 7 and my sister was 4 when the twins came along. I imagine that's a little better. Though at that time there was no routine US and amnio so my parents didn't know they were having twins until very late, like a month before they were born. The twins just turned 30 and my parents are still married so we all survived!
Yeah, you can totally handle it, its just different than most people think. Saying you "want" them is bizarre to me. They say it the same way you say how want a puppy or something.
Like a puppy, it sounds like a good idea in theory, but its a lot of work and a lot of piss and shit.
A friend of mine had a 2.5 year old, a 1 year old and found out she was pregnant with twins. She now has 4 under 4. The twins just turned 1 and they are trying for a 5th baby because she got "cheated out of a 4th pregnancy". I think she needs her head checked. Ditto pp's that after having 1 baby I can't imagine twins. Newborns are a lot of work.
